Were you on the Sunset Safari? If so, what did you think?

I hadn't read that the new savannah was going to be a rainforest environment. I imagine that will be beautiful! Any details?

I think that is the new pool area.

I am hoping for an okapi! I know they live in the African Rainforst area! Awsome animal. I know there is going to be some new animals, but the new savanna, seems to be on the smaller side, just from looking at the pictures!
Did they start the pool or lobby yet?

We took the Sunset Safari Saturday night ( Jan 19 ) it was fantastic. We were the only dvc'ers on the tour out of 8, so our guide spoke to us for about 10 minutes. She told us they wanted something new and just as exciting when it came to bringing in new animals. She said they were going to create a rain forest for the new DVC building with the appropriate animals that would go with that . She did not specify what kind or type of animals.

We were out on the savanna for 1 hour and 50 minutes on tour with another 30 minutes out there to eat, which we were parked for in the middle of it all. Then we moved into Jiko's for our multi course dinner with wine pairings. It was incredible. I won't do this every trip because of the cost , but I will do it for special occasions. ( it was $210.00 each )

What do you mean by RainForest Savanna?

They are supposed to be installing a new savanna area that is only visisble from Kidani Village. I hadn't heard a name for it yet though.

Exactly what I was thinking!! I can't wait to stay in Kidani!!!! Bring on the 1 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms and dedicated 2 bedrooms!

We were also there last sat. Thanks for sharing the pics. I do have a few but they are not as good as yours as we were not in a room since dh and I were just there for a day touring the DVC.

They are moving right along although it is all just the structural aspects- no savannah, no pool etc. They told us they might be done soon with the structure but the interiors, landscaping and finishes could take a while. So fingers crossed they stay on schedule. The models were so HUGE! the rooms were much bigger than the rooms we stayed in at the BWV last summer and they are just stunning in person no photos i have seen do them justice!

I just hope kidani is up an running for our Jan 2009 trip since I am not even sure were will get a ressie for our June 2008 trip since we have not booked it yet!

Great pics - thanks for taking the time to post. I'm waitlisted for the AKL for my upcoming April trip and my DSis and DNeph (4), his first trip, are coming so I'd love to have a Savanna room where he could gaze at the animals every morning. It would be so magical for him and maybe just what it would take for him to remember it.
