On the phone with Member Services now, our one bedroom standard that we've had booked since the 11 month window for the second week of December is now unavailable and they need to move us. This is a big birthday trip and I know things happen but I'm not thrilled right now. The only offer they have is Kidani and I am not a fan. :( Not sure what we are going to do now.

Yeah, I would not be pleased either. Is there anyway they can upgrade the room to leave you in Jambo? Their poor planning shouldn’t affect your well-planned vacation.

Also, what is the nature of this unavailability? Is it “maintenance” or do they simply want more stock for cash reservations when the new SW ride opens? Timing seems odd.

They can't bump someone for cash 5 months out. It has to be maintenance.

They are saying it's the refurbishment. They offered a couple of FP's and $100 credit. I'm almost ready to cancel. I will say the supervisor I'm working with "seems" to be trying. I've already borrowed almost all my 2020 points (lol) so that is a small hinderance. Although she won't look at anything but DVC rooms.

Nothing available anywhere but Kidani, which makes me think they knew about this. Gotta talk to DH and see if he wants to pay cash for a one bedroom at Boulder Creek or Boardwalk as those are available on the WDW site. I'm really really disappointed.

I’m sorry! I can’t even imagine how disappointed you are. I would be absolutely livid. It’s also completely unacceptable that after you played by the rules and made your reservation 11 months ahead of time, they will not make cash dvc rooms available for you. It might be “legal” but it just doesn’t show good faith on their part.

I've heard something about because of the renovations going on at JH in the hotel rooms some of the corridors are being closed. So that affects the DVC villas on that corridor.

See if they can at least bump you up to savanna view at Kidani. I don’t mind standard view at Jambo since you’ll either have pool or partial savanna view, but w/ Kidani I wouldn’t book standard as there’s a real risk of getting a parking lot/road view.

Thanks, I am beyond livid right now the more I think about this. I know refurbishments happen (hence no value studios at 11 months for Dec) but to do this five months out where there are almost no rooms on property, DVC or regular due to the time of year, Pop Warner and GE being fully open is insane to me.

That may be more points than I have left (I live in perpetual borrowment). Yep, they screwed up and I'm being penalized. I know I could only waitlist if I had enough points to borrow for places. I'm sure I will eventually calm down, but now all I can hope for is to be in the "bead" that is semi close to the pool.

This.

I knew about the values being affected, but had not heard about the standard rooms. Wonder if all standard rooms were (as I know some are way far out) or if I just got "lucky" and they chose my reservation. I would think we would be hearing more about this in that case as some of the savannah view rooms have standards mixed in (those that overlook people pens).

What is so bad with Kidani? Seems a reasonable offer to me.
Jambo has far fewer villas than Kidani, thus the need to book Jambo earlier. There are pluses and minuses, Jambo standard views are better, IMO & you have a decent chance of overlooking a savanna in one v. Kidani standard views. Jambo has 2 restaurants, the quick service, the lively Victoria falls bar, a grand soaring lobby, a larger more ‘adult’ pool, a bigger gift store and it abuts 3 large savannas. Kidani has larger villas & an extra bathroom in the 1 br.s & up, but it also has a dinky lobby, one restaurant, and really long hallways. It abuts one large savanna and one very small savanna and the standard views are likely to be out the front of the building where you’ll be seeing vehicles rather than the giraffes or foliage around the pool you’d see in a standard at Jambo.
OP I’d ask for them to give you the savanna view (request Sunset savanna) w/out charging you more points - it’s the least they can do under the circumstances.

I agree with previous posters - ask for savanna view at no increase in points cost.
