Make it cheaper and easier to get to the U.S. legally and the number of Illigals will go down. Make it harder for Illegals to get here and stay here, easier for Legals. Is that too hard to understand.

While I understand your logic of making it easier for immigration therefore reducing the illegal immigration, I think in the long run this will accomplish that goal. From what I understand from the article, they are upping the fees to cover the expenses of upgrading the agency so they can process the applications faster. This makes sense, as long as those fees are used for immigration purposes. I'm all for agencies being "self supporting" by the user fees.

That's insane. Absolutely insane. What they don't tell you here is that there are actually about 5 different forms you have to file, each with a hefty fee. So while your adjustment to residency status will cost $905 now, you're still going to be shelling out about $500 in additional fees to cover the additional paperwork.

My husband and I paid about $1200 to get his green card last year, and that's before the price increase.

See this is what I want: People who want to come to this country able to afford it (I think that is what you said ). We are a nation of Immigrants, many that where here first helped those that came latter. I don't mind paying the court costs for Legal Immigrants to get here. I feel this is passing on the legacy that has made this country what it is.

This makes me so mad. I cannot understand this. Its a difficult path to get down as it is to come here legally...now they are going to make it even worse. I just dont understand. I feel like I am never going to be able to come back here with DH.
