We are going to try to get a 2 bedroom at HH for August, there will be 8 of us, 4 adults, 2 13 year olds and a 5 and 6 year old. I know it will be tight, all kids may be in the bedroom and adults in the living room, or all adults in the 2 bedrooms and all the kids in the living room with an air bed. (I am sure we can make it work), I just don't want to max out my points or spend too much cash, and my sis refuses to let me pay the bulk, even though I said my treat, just pay one cash night!

Should we bring our bikes with us as we are driving.

Is it safe for the 13 year olds to ride down to the beach area without adults, or is it a main road type of thing.

I have daily activity sheets from Vero, is HH the same type of activities?

How packed do the pool areas get in August?

Thanks

You will definitely want bikes -- whether you bring your own or rent them there. They usually have a "special", like $50 for two bikes for length of stay and $10 or $15 for each additional bike. If you're there for a while, it might be worth it to rent them instead of schlepping them. ;)

Yes, it is definitely safe for the 13-year-olds to ride down to the beach. There is an underpass for crossing the highway and bike paths door-to-door. As long as they use common sense and stick together, I would see no problem in letting them go by themselves.

Haven't been to Vero in years, so I can't answer on how the activities compare, but I can tell you that the HH activities are awesome, as are the Cast Members. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Surprisingly, the pools never seem to be too bad. I think it's because the resort is pretty small and there are two pools (resort and beach house) as well as the beach. Yes, there are people who go out early and reserve chairs, but I think the resort is trying to crack down on that. They're also doing more room key checks to make sure that non-guests aren't crashing the beach house pool.

Good luck on getting your reservation. Be prepared to fall in love with the resort! :sunny:

Bring the bikes!! Hilton Head is awesome for bike riders. There is a separate path off the main road for bikers and walkers. You can also ride bikes on the beach. It is a great place for vacation. Have a great time. Patsy

Our 4 year old easily managed to ride his bike to and from the beach (although not alone ;) ) but it's not a bad ride at all. The path does go underneath the main road. When riding along the road, the bike path area is well marked and fairly wide. By 13, I think most kids should be able to make the trip without any problems.

We have never been in August, but July many times. The pools never really seemed overly crowded. We did have a problem parking at the beach house a couple of days later in the morning. We solved this when DH & the kids rode their bikes and I drove, met them there, dropped off all the stuff, then drove back to the resort and hopped on the shuttle. It worked for us.

In the second bedroom, there is an area which would be used if the second bedroom was a studio for the kitchenette section (I hope that makes sense), which would work well for an air mattress. Being 2 of the 4 kids are smaller, I think you'll fit fine in a 2 bedroom.

Good luck with your reservations!
