Very likely issues with International Banking Security procedures between US banks and French banks. EU have changed and implemented very strong security measures over the last 2 years, which American banks have not reciprocated. This is now causing issues as you have experienced.

I have issues the other way, when buying Disneyland California tickets as my Irish bank card was being rejected by the American system.

when we use our BofA cards we usually get the 2fa prompts and it works well. The other cards not so much.

however, it's very hit and miss. I was able to book musee D'Orsay last night so it worked out.

being Disney folks and knowing what day x number of days in advance has helped us out, I knew I needed to be on at 1 am Tuesday to get Ann Frank House booked.
