Our first day with Poohshoney (Carol) was spent in the German city of Mannheim. We toured some of the churches, walked through downtown and then hit the Christmas markets. Mannheim is not a pretty city like Heidelberg, but we did see some nice things.

My memory is not what it used to be, so Carol, if you are reading this, feel free to correct me.

Mannheim Market Square. If memory serves me correct this used to be the town hall but is now a church.

DS standing by a statue in the square, however I don't remember the significance of the statue.

This is DS standing on one of the main shopping streets. He was fascinated with the trolley lines.

This church is dedicated to Mozart who played there whenever he was in Mannheim.

This concludes the day in Mannheim, apparently by the time we got to the Christmas market we were too busy shopping as the only picture I have from there is this one of my DS.

The final day I will be posting is Heidelberg and I hope to get to that tomorrow as there are a lot of pictures to sort through.

Maybe not as pretty, but still neat. German (well, pretty much all European) churches are so beautiful!!

Debbi thanks so much for sharing this visit with us, and the lovely pic's. I love the old world style's of Europe.

Thank you for the photos. :)

I'm looking forward to the Heidelberg post!

I just love Europe! Thanks for the pictures. As an organist, I love seeing those German organs! As my ancestry is German, I love seeing Mannheim.

You are all very welcome. Just bumping this up for the early morning crowd.

Have a great day everyone. And I know I keep saying it, but the Heidelberg pictures are coming!

Hi Debbi! The photos turned out well considering the weather! Mannheim was very badly bombed in the Second World War so there's not a lot of pretty things.

The university used to be the Residence of the local princes - not bad, huh! The first statue depicts the four seasons, the second is the one Tyler insisted on having a photo of, a memorial to those who fell in 19th century wars. And the church tower was from the Concordian Church, the one we didn't like. The one where the personnel completely ignored us - how are you supposed to attract parishioners if you're unfriendly?!

Jeannie - no, but it does have a knock-off!

MsKanga - you've been to Mannheim? Wow!!! Come again! Soon!!

I wanna go to Europe! Mom! I wanna go to Europe. Those pictures were great!

You did a great job, as usual, on the photography, Debbi!

I thought the town was pretty! The Churches were just outstanding.

Pam
