I'm sorry. I've read through the fast pass + faqs, read through unofficial guide, chatted with an thoroughly unhelpful cast member throug wdw's chat, and googled. I still can't figure out how to do something that seems like it should be relatively common.

We have 5 of us going. There are some rides I want us to have fastpasses together for, and some that we split up for.

For example, the day we go to Hollywood Studios I want the 5 of us to ride on Toy Story Mania together. We'll all get fastpasses for Tower of Terror even though my youngest can't ride because both my husband and I want to ride. But, we only want Star Tours fast passes for my husband and two older kids. My youngest and I will get fast passes for something else.

But I can't figure out how to do this. If I try to select two options (Toy Story & Tower of Terror) for all 5 of us, then it automatically selects a 3rd option for us all (an option we don't want.)

If I do the 3 who have all 3 fastpass attractions the same together, then when I try to get my youngest and I 2 of the same attractions (plus one different) we aren't on Toy Story and Tower of terror at the same time.

If I try to delete Star Tours for two of us to replace it with something different, it replaces all of our fastpasses.

My brain was ready to explode trying to do this last night! I can't imagine other families don't split up and ride together in a similar was, so it seems like it should be relatively common.

DO NOT "CANCEL" any FP+, that will cause you the need to start over.

Make ALL FP+ the same for everyone.

Then go back and Change an attraction.
When you DO get ready to make the change, you will be given a choice as to WHCH GUESTS for whom you want to select to make those changes.
It is one of the automatic steps that comes up in the changing process.

1. Log into MDE
2. "My Plans, Enjoy FastPass+" > Make Selections
3. "Need to change a FastPass+ experience or time?" > Update FastPass+
4. Please select date > (choose date) > Continue
5. (pick one of your 3 FastPass+ choices) > Change Experience
6. Click the button for the NEW attraction wanted (for the child, in this case)
7. THEN you will see the names of everyone in your party.
8. DESELECT the name(s) for whom you do NOT want to make this change.
(Leave the button(s) lit next to the name(s) of any guest for which you want to make the change.)
9. Click Update.
Done.

When I tried to do that I got a warning that it would modify all of our fastpasses (not just Star Tours.) So I stopped. I guess I'll forge ahead and see what happens.

Thanks! I was not that critical of fast pass +, but now that I'm try to use it I'm quickly getting very frustrated with it!

I book them all together.

Then I go back and CHANGE selections, not delete for those who don't want or can't do a certain ride. I do this on my phone and every action requires me to select the members of my party to do this for. So I check my short person and me--and then say change selection and then pick star tours. It should come up with what is available during the same time period and then I select a replacement accordingly.

So I just went in...(using my MDE app in my phone).
I think your error is you are choosing maybe "make a new" which does change them all. You need to select "modify existing", select you and your son, select CHANGe a FP selection or time, pick the experience you need to change, then pick change attraction or change time and change it. It should not delete your other selections at all.

So key is change--not cancel/delete/replace.

I suspect you are choosing REPLACE. And that does do that.

Is the system clunky, confusing and nearly inadequate for guest use?

You BET it is!

Again, these are the steps for making an individual change AFTER making all three FP+ choices the same for everyone in your party-

1. Log into MDE
2. "My Plans, Enjoy FastPass+" > Make Selections
3. "Need to change a FastPass+ experience or time?" > Update FastPass+
4. Please select date > (choose date) > Continue
5. (pick one of your 3 FastPass+ choices) > Change Experience

Can anyone tell me if this is still the best strategy when you are doing a split group for the hard to get Magic Kingdom attractions of A&E and 7DMT? Here is what we are hoping to get for mid-March with 60 day booking:

5 people in group with ultimately this distribution:

3 for A&E
4 for 7DMT
3 for Speedway
5 for Buzz Lightyear.

Because of popularity, is it better to try for only the three that want to do A&E or still do the whole group? Any tips on strategy would be most appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

It's so cumbersome. We Might be my parents for a day or two down there (they winter in Fl.) My dad would flip his lid to learn what all they need to do to be able to go on rides with the grandkids!
