So, for those of us who couldn't take advantage of today's deals...are we still holding out hope for more discounts to come? Do you think the 4/3 offer is out of the question?
We're a family of 5 booked for 2/22-3/1, right in the middle of free dining blackout dates. We're limited to Presidents week (with a couple days give or take on either end), so I thought about changing to 2/17-2/24 to get free dining - but the rates on flights to go Thursday instead of Tuesday were outrageous! It almost ate up all the savings from free dining.
Still not too sure what to do - are there fellow DISers out there still praying for further February discounts?!

I'm still praying. I'm a teacher, so we're limited to Pres. week with no leeway at all on either end. Last year, I did get a pin code that covered all of Feb. (much to my surprise!) but they did not have all this free dining going on for the other weeks, so I'm hoping this doesn't change things. Keeping my fingers crossed as the prices are always jacked up at that time of year!

I was hoping for May as this will be my second trip and were taking my little brother. This trip we wanted to focus on the water parks because we didn't do it last time. My mom is letting me take my bro out of school for a week but just noticed the only week with FD is the week of finals.

I have two choices now go in May and hope for a promo if not downgrade to a mod from a deluxe. I wouldn't mind but I fell in love with WL and we know my bro would love it to. My other choice is to go in Feb.

Well I'm off to go make many fake email accts and act like I'm interested in a Trip and hope for a pin code. Hows Feb weather guys at the world

we just moved our trip to two days earlier to take advantage of the free dining so we are now leaving on 2/17 which is a thursday. I am a SLP in a school as well, hopefully the school won't complain too much. Also we are goingto be saving on flights flyin gon a thursday instead of on a saturday like we orginally planned.

I'm just holding out and hoping that those of us who were blacked out will receive something eventually.

I think if Disney sales are down, they will continue to offer these type of discounts. At least that's what I'm hoping!!

Inconsistent. This year, it was mostly in the 50's/60's during Pres. week. The same week in 2006 it was 70's/80's. I remember a trip in Feb. when I was a little girl that was so cold that we had to wear hats/ mittens etc... and the campground we were supposed to stay at closed because of the cold. Brrr!

Really bummed out that the discount did not include President's week.:sad1:
Southwest opens up their schedule tomorrow and I do not know if I should book flights. If there is no discount, we will not be going this February.
What to do, what to do???

I'm hoping for more discounts for the end of Feb and into March. We'll be there after presidents day, but the day we're supposed to arrive is a blackout day... Might just mean a split stay

I have doubts about the 4/3 deal happening. I think we may see 25-40% being released along with free dining maybe for more dates but I don't know if we will see the 4/3 - especially since they didn't initially release that for Jan/Feb (the slowest, coldest months at WDW).

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for some type of deal. We're going the first week of April,so I know my chances are slim, lol!!!

Arghh - booking such a fun vacation shouldn't be so stressful! Southwest extended their schedule today with some good rates ($99 each way) - better than any other carrier around here. I'm hesitant to change my dates to arrive the Thursday before Presidents Day due to the crowds - I'm thinking arriving the day after Presidents Day and staying until the following Tuesday, maybe the crowds will thin out as my week goes along. BUT, will the crowds be lower enough to make the extra $$ worth it?? Keeping fingers crossed for some other offer - any other offer. What about Disney Visa? I have that - I wonder if they'll be offering anything?

Exactly.

Our family is planning on going in May (16-25th) for our first visit to WDW and for our 7th anniversary. It feels like Santa came, gave all the OTHER kids presents and forgot us. We chose our dates months ago in order to miss out on larger events that we don't participate in such as cheerleading/dance tourneys and such. Our dates are pretty set due to work schedules and whatnot, and of course fall right in the blackout days.

My TA keeps telling me to keep my head up and said there's a chance other discounts will surface. After yesterday's disappointment, I'm less than optimistic about Disney and their decisions right now. Our family is really bummed - while we budgeted for rack rates, it stinks to see 85% of the year receive a discount and being part of the 15% which got no love. We're even looking at other options, like a cruise, campout or another theme park instead.

I want to keep the family motivated and hanging on until January, which will still give us time to change our minds if we need to. I'm trying to see the good spin on this, such as, "Guess what? No discount means that there will be less people in the park (because only suckers like me pay rack rates, I guess) and we'll have less crowds! Think how fast the lines will move!"

I thought vacation planning and vacations were supposed to be fun and exciting, not depressing. This is definitely not the way I envisioned my first visit to WDW to begin.

Let's both keep our fingers crossed. The week we're going (March 7) is also blacked out. I was extremely disappointed about that, but my TA said she was "sure there will be something else come out down the road" for our dates. Every time she's hinted like that in the past, it was true. ;)

I was also hoping for 4/3 the end of March. Free dining would be ok too. BUT, I now have to keep waiting since we are in the 'black out zone'. Maybe if people don't book their vacations Disney will have to extend their black out dates. Or......maybe they will start to send out PIN codes soon........

I was surprised to see 2011 discounts come out this soon, given the 4/3 deal came out Sept 28thish last year. I wasn't even trolling the boards this early, so feel lucky to have snatched it up.

I think whether more discounts come out will depend on their business and how well people respond to these discounts. For us, we scooped up the 40% and it happened to fit the dates we already had booked (early Jan). Last year's 4/3 was a touch better (43% discount overall) but there were only upgraded rooms available last year, so it was kind of a wash in terms of overall cost. For two people to go to WDW for a week, stay in a great hotel and have all our meals paid for $2500 seems like a bargain. Not stressing over details or getting the "best" discount? Priceless!

I am hoping for some kind of deal for June...room only discount or free dining or something. We can't go until around the 14th... am I crazy to think there will be anything for early summer?? We are going in November and thinking of upgrading to APs then staying off property to save money but if they offer a good discount we would stay on property and not do AP's...Anyone ever got a discount for mid June???
