More driving questions - Anaheim, LA and then SD

So we are flying in on a Thursday. Going to be in Anaheim at DL/DCA until Sunday morning. We have an LA tour booked at 10 am Sunday morning. How long should we typically plan for travel from DL to Hollywood (I think our tour leaves from the Roosevelt Hotel)?

After the Hollywood tour we are driving up to Miramar in SD to spend the rest of the week. We aren't on a time schedule to get there but it seems traffic on Sundays sounds really bad from the other threads.

We are from Atlanta so heavy, fast traffic we are used too. Any thoughts are appreciated!

Google Maps is saying about 40-55 minutes if you leave around 8:30 AM this Sunday. There's no accounting for accidents though. I'd leave two hours early, which should leave enough time for a wrong turn and to find parking.

Also - Miramar is way south; Most people would say you're "going down" to there from LA.

Thanks - Lol - thank goodness DH is driving as you can clearly see I have no sense of direction whatsoever!

I'd eat dinner in Hollywood and drive down to Miramar/San Diego after 7 PM. Not sure when you are actually driving down. Summers means more traffic all around. It also means Fair/Racing Season in Del Mar which you will need to pass - which adds to your driving time. I have in-laws in Bel Air and we usually leave their house around 7 PM on Sundays with a 9:30 arrival time in San Diego (Miramar is about 15 minutes north of me).

I dunno. I was thinking maybe you might be using different slang. I think of north as "up" and south as "down" based on how maps are oriented, but maybe there's a different use in your region.

Years ago I had a work assignment in San Diego that was right on the edge of Miramar. It occasionally got loud due to military aircraft operations.

Anything can happen on these freeways and side streets. There are plenty of car chases, which can delay traffic horribly. Have seen it many times. Just watched one this morning. Always leave enough room for time just in case. I would always want to be early than worrying about the time.

Nope we classify north as up and south as down here too! I am definitely directionally challenged :-/ We got a great rate for the week at the lodge on the base so we had to take it since DH splurged and got All Star tickets......he is a huge Padres fan so he is very excited. Cheap accomodations had to happen though hence our stay on Miramar....

Thank you - this is very helpful advice! What time is it getting dark out there these days?

It's kind of a far away location, but if you can get it cheap it's not bad.
