taken from this micechat post:

The Princess Fantasy Faire staff has been informed that all the non-revenue generators will be eliminated, including most of the support staff as of January 5th, 2009. Most of the events in the stage area will no longer be offered.

Of course, the Meet and Greet with the PhotoPass photographers will remain, as will the merchandise area with the face painting, and the Enchanted Cottage food stand also will remain open.

I agree, Molly. SIGH! I wasn't a fan before, but at least the entertainment was free and without lines. I can't believe they would do away with storytime with the princeses. That's just wrong. Guess we'll only go back to that area of the park for IASW now.

Yep.

You know, they have the food there, but as HydroGuy said, it's all bratwursts. Guy food! And I don't think a brat is going to convince a hubby or sons, who might not be interested in meeting princesses, to go back and wait with NOTHING to do and nothing to watch. So they'll lose the guys who go back there, and then the mothers and daughters, who might spend scads in the shop since they aren't worried about meeting their guys, won't buy as much.

Bad decision, IMO. Companies really should hire me to think these things through for them.

Molly, you are so right about this! I wonder what else is getting ready to be cut? I hope nothing...

this makes me so nervous! everything is so built up for us right now, i wonder if some of our favs will be cut by april!

my DS is dying to do jedi training. he will be SO let down if it's not there anymore. :( and my dd loves the princesses. one of her favorite things when we were there was snow white coming out and telling a story.

How sad - that's my daughters favorite.

It may not be an immediate revenue generator - but judging by amount of Princess cr@p at my house - the princesses do generate a lot of revenue...

So whats going to happen to the stage area?

Nothing. Much like the stage area at Aladdin's Oasis, the stage area at Big Thunder BBQ area (used to be Hunchback's Festival of Fools), and the stage area on Pirate's Lair that was for the Bootstrapper pirates and Capt'n Jack. DLR is getting good at wasting space lately. :sad2:

Wow. I wonder how bad they are hurting to cut the Fantasy Faire like that. You would think that they could do a scaled down version or something. We didn't even see the story telling while we were there and we were there long enough to go through the princess 'class' twice.

Awww my DD and I went there after someone commented that she had a "sweet mullet" in one of the lines. We got her hair done at a nice cost of $32 :scared1: but she felt so good afterwards, she cried when I took her hair out back at the hotel. We had a great experience there and the boys went to get a pretzel and YUMMY cherry coke while we browsed the little princess wares that were by the hair salon. If they close any of the princess faire, I know it wont only be my princess that will be disappointed! :confused3

Did they take away the Bootstrapper pirates too? I am so behind on things. My family loved that live entertainment they did there.

Keeping fingers crossed Jedi Academy doesn't get the ax too.

Sometime next year they're going to turn the Princess store that's at the castle into Bibbity Boppity Boutique, so I'm sure what's at PFF right now where they do your hair/makeup will be gone. I bet they'll just make it a bigger store area.

So besides the meet and greet that's all that will be there? And the big waste of now space stage?

I am sooooooooooooo sad about this. DD9's favorite Princess is Cinderella, last year she didn't once get to see Cindy tell her story. :( She's going to be so sad when she finds out they won't be there anymore. :( The more I hear about cut backs the more I think I should just take the kids with us next month. :(

They should work on more princess features. Perhaps packages to buy with special time with a princess to give you styling tips or something for your hair..i don't know but there is money to be made there disney..look into it:thumbsup2

we never went down into the theater area.

just went to see the princesses got our photos and then left.:goodvibes

What I don't understand is that at the World they have the different live shows like Ariel and Beauty and the Beast etc. why do they feel at the Land that this isn't as important? They just have the photo ops with the different princesses. The stage area could be used for more shows.

Oh, wait. Of course, It doesn't make money!!!

But in all honesty, the thing that I remember the most(and loved) from my trip to the World 16(almost 17) years ago was the Ariel show.

They talk about cutbacks, but are spending millions on redoing DCA.:confused3 I liked DCA the way it was, but that is my opinion. I would like to see DCA stay the same and keep the stage shows, but again, MHO.

How about they skip the wait to meet only 3 princesses ( and you don't know who you will get) and have them ALL be in the stage area mingling about for people to meet.
