More crowded on a EE day

We are going when the park opens at 8 am. We'll have a hard enough time getting there for the 8 am opening and I doubt we'll make the EE day. I think I read EE is on Sat, Sun, Tues, Thurs...so will it be more crowded on those days in the morning that it would be on a non-EE day? I'm trying to decide what day to schedule the Segway tour at DCA for my DH.

Thanks for any advice you can give!

FL rides will have lines already when you come in, but the rest of the park is just opening up to even those who went to MM. so all those rides are fair game.

It's just best to not plan on doing the FL rides (and Nemo!) on an MM day, that you don't attend. If you can attend one, I'd really try to though. It's very worth it.

Only in Fantasyland and the Tomorrowland rides open for MM (Nemo, Space, Buzz). Otherwise, the other parts of the park won't be that crowded (Adventureland, NOS, Frontierland, Critter Country)

Since you'll have a hard time getting to DL for the 8am opening, I wanted to make sure you know that the Segway tour starts at 7:30am...

Yes, I know. It's just hard getting all 4 of us up and ready before 7. Since my kids are not yet old enough to stay on their own, it's just my DH going on the tour. He is the quickest one of us all to get ready. He's always been interested in the Segway's and I thought, what better place than Disney to take the tour :).

Thanks to everyone for your advice!

Another thing to consider is that you dont have to do the whole hour of MM/EE to benefit from it. If you find you are all ready and can get to the park at 7:30, go for it! A 1/2 hour is better then no MM at all. Of course, save it for another day if there is a day that isnt so early.

We did EE on a Sunday in May. We were there about 7:40 for a 7 am EE. We were able to ride both sides of the matterhorn, Peter Pan and Alice all before the park started to see any non-mm guests.

I enthusiastically agree.

& one other thing to consider Chicagolander.....the time zone change is your friend. PLAN ON GOING TO MM ON YOUR FIRST MM morning. Getting up at 5:15am (for a 7am MM) is like getting up at 7:15am in Chicago.

hound <-----lives in Texas & loves the fact that the time zone change is his friend. :cool2:

Well, we are going to be in San Diego for 5 days before DLR, so by then we might not be on Chicago time any more. :) I think after reading all these replies, I'll schedule the Segway tour on the NON-EE/MM day, so that we can TRY to get there for EE/MM. Wish me luck getting ready before 7!

Thanks again for all the advice.

That is what I keep thinking too! For once, the time change works in our favor unlike WDW.

Rats. :rotfl:

Well at least you'll be up early for the zoo. :hippie:

I do wish you luck.....but if you can't get there by 6:30-6:40am, it's still VERY much worth doing EE....even if you stroll in at 7:15am (basically after the folks who were in line have gone thru).

Every ride in FL (except Peter Pan) & Buzz & SM are all doable. (& you could possibly ride Buzz & the Matterhorn multiple times).

BUT....if you're not near the front of the line, i'd skip PP & Nemo & do those another time (or day).

Yes, we will be up early for the zoo and maybe even for day 2 at Sea World. After that who knows :confused3 .

As far as Nemo, I was thinking of trying to go during the parade (or fireworks) one day - is that a good strategy?

I feel your pain, getting up early for EE. And we are in Washington state, so the time is our time! Last time we went was 2006. We had gone in 2005, and we didn't use our EE. I hadn't researched anything, and we didn't really know anything about it. So glad I found this site before our 2006 trip!

Everyone complained about getting up early, especially dh. We are not morning people at all. I don't know why dh complained, as he takes 15 minutes to get himself ready, and I take 30 minutes to me and 3 kids ready. (It was just 2 kids in 2006) Get them dressed as they are half asleep, and then throw doughnuts and cheerios as you herd them to the gates. Anyone who protests gets spun extra fast on the teacups. LOL Just kidding. Really, once you get moving, it really isn't bad. Tell everyone it's a race to see if you can be the first family on Dumbo, or Peter Pan, or the carousel.

:rotfl2:

I'm just picturing you tossing doughnuts and pelting your grumpy kids with cheerios as you walk!

Agreed-- it was kinda tough for a Washington same-time-zone family to drag themselves out for MM, but soooo worth it for the quiet park that first hour! Loved it.
