Just looked at the park hours for our trip (June 17-24) and now along with POC, F!,BB, now TSI is closed the entire week and some days both ships are closed. Whats up with that????? TSI has something to do with the movie opening now???

I said it before I really hate the week we are going, but it is the only one we can all go as a family!!

This is our 1st trip to DLR after many trips to WDW I hope I don't regret not going back to WDW this summer!!

I know we will still have a great time, I just hope they don't close anymore attractions for that week!!!!!!
Sorry for the rant
Tracie :rolleyes2

They will be showing the movie on the Rivers of America. TSI will be staging for it. The boats will be docked to be used as staging or kept out of the way.

We will be there 6/24 - 7/2 and figure it will be a crazy week with the movie premier and 4th of July. We're attending a dance competition at DLH, luckily you'll miss it!!

I am so confused as to what everything is that I am almost wishing I went back to where I know everything, WDW. I know that when I read about DW I can ignore all the comments and negitivitey (sp) because I am so used to it. Life has changes so I just live with it, no I don't luke it but change happens throughout life no matter what it is.

The MK at DL is similar to the MK at WDW, so you will feel comfortable. There are some differences, but you will be fine. They do have park maps there, just like we have here in FL. You won't regret your trip.

To the OP who unfortunately planned their trip during the POTC:DMC movie opening - I feel for you. You will have a great time just the same!

Tracie, I originally looked at that same week, but the hotel prices and premier scared me away. I am going to miss seeing POTC, but that will just give me another excuse to go back next year. I hope you will still have a good time. Try not to think about what you don't have, but all the good things you will be able to do. Walk from park to park with ease, no busses, Downtown Disney just steps away!

Tracie

I believe that those closings have been planned all along. Just try to focus on the things that are open and not worry about what you are going to miss.

You will not regret your choice if you stay focus on the positive, but if you are not careful you will have a miserable trip. Just remember that POC is also closed during the same time at WDW, so it does not matter. We personally do not like the BB and feel that it is over rated. F! is not always showing and so it is easy to miss any time you go. TSI is not that exciting at DL. If you have kids that need to run around and climb on things then just take them over to Redwood Creek Challenge Trail over at DCA.

I know that I have been guilty of talking a lot about POC on this board, but it really is not the end of the world. Just relax and go with the flow. Again try not to focus on anything, but the positive and you will be fine. Have a great trip!

Gail-you are going to have a great time! Just try to avoid the negative on the board and have a great time. :cool1: :thumbsup2

Well, not a trick, exactly. But I was there the night before the premier of the first POC movie. After the fireworks, I went over for one last ride on Splash - and was treated to the first 10 seconds of the movie (without sound) as I headed towards the park exit. They started testing the screen to make sure the clarity would work. I know, I didn't see any movie, but it was still pretty cool - especially because it was that ship coming out of the fog part.

Don't forget, one bonus for going that week - on the 24th, MK opens at 6:30am! From what I understand about last time, for those willing to get up, the park is pretty empty for a couple of hours!

I just noticed the extra closings also. I want to cry. I would cancel our whole trip if we could. We booked the week before the pirates closing was announced. My 6 yo son, a huge pirate fan, was all excited to go on TSI. It was my favorite place as a kid and couldn't wait to share it with him.

We live in Philadelphia and can't change our dates because of our flight. I seriously feel sick to my stomach. I grew up going to Disneyland because I lived in California. These were things I wanted to share with my boys on their first trip to Disneyland. We should have just gone to WDW. We would have saved $2000.

sorry, for being negitive I guess I typed too soon after looking at the DLR website. We planned our trip before all the movie stuff was anounced. It really is the only week we can go on vacation together.

I'm sure all the closings were planned, but I wish they would have all been listed from the start, then I could have got over it all at the same time.

When I found out POC was down,at that time until the 24, I thought "our flight is later in the day, so we can go to DL at 6:30am to ride it before we have to leave." Then it changed to the 26th, "Oh well we can live without POC." Then I contacted DLR about Fantasmic, during our stay and they told me the dates would be listed later, then found out, here by the way, no Fantasmic. So I guess seeing more closed just set me off!! I'm the one who talked my boys into trying DLR instead of WDW.

I will not regret the trip and I know we will have a great time, I'm just a little worried the park will be nuts. I have ridemax and have read Hydrguys reports
(Thanks by the way).

To Gail T I am sorry for being negitive.

Sorry so long and again for the Rant.

Feeling your pain, Tracie! We arrive on the 17th as well and leave very early on the 25th. Like you, it was manageable to deal with POTC being closed. It's not a favorite of ours at WDW anyway, although we were excited to ride it on our last day at the park and see why everyone says the DL version is better. No cigar--it won't be open until after we leave.

Then comes the news about Fantasmic...my DH's favorite show at WDW. This one is a major dissapointment to both of us, as again, we wanted to see why the DL version is supposed to be better.

Last week my DH called two days early to book our "Discover the Magic" tour...something my DS6 REALLY wanted to do. Two days later when DH called back he was told all tours that week are "inactive". GRRRRRRRRR!

I love Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom just as much as the next girl, but geez...the park is already small enough without closing all this stuff down just for a bunch of celebs to walk the red carpet.

I feel so bad for all of you who had looked forward to specific things that won't be open during your trip. Normally, summer is a safe bet for fewer closings for rides and attractions but I guess not this June! We are there at that time as well (15th-21st) and Fantasmic I think is going our second night only. On the bright side, many things like Space Mountain and the Remember fireworks are incredible and much better than the counterparts at WDW. Also Disneyland has some incredibly good shows like Bill Hill, Aladdin and my favorite, Snow White (which nobody else likes and is ending after Labor Day). So there should still be plenty of fun, new, different things to do. But still a bummer and still rantable! Also, my hope is that maybe that week will be good crowdwise since so many people will be coming the next week. In any case, I hope we all have great trips even with all the closures!
