More Car Club (emerald/insiders/) q? (CC)

I am trying to fill out the Emerald Club online enrolment form, and it wants Credit Card Info. Is this typical for all the car rental clubs or are there any that don't ask for this until you actually rent?

I don't like giving my CC card info online (I usually use single-use numbers when I do online shopping) so I am having 2nd thoughts about signing up.

From the enrollment form:
You must complete the following section by indicating which credit card you would like us to keep on your file.
Credit cards on this profile must be in the same name as the Emerald Club member.
National Car Rental does not accept debit cards at the time of rental. Saving debit card information in your profile may cause your rental to be cancelled or voided.
National Car Rental will perform a $1.00 USD authorization for verification purposes. This is not a charge. This authorization will be reversed in due course (typically takes 10 business days).
After you've successfully completed your enrollment and created your login and password, if you like you can add more credit cards by going to the profile update section.

National requires it. Furthermore, when making a reservation, you are generally required to show the same credit card you used to make a reservation, so a one-time use number would not work.

It's up to you whether the convenience of a frequent-renter program is more important than your current policy about not using a credit card online.

For what it is worth, I have replaced 2-3 compromised cards over the past 4-5 years. Having a compromised card is, at worst, a little bit of a hassle, but other than a bit of lost time has cost me nothing. So, my free advice is just go ahead and sign up.

Yes, it is required by National, we do not allow single use cards or debit cards. The only parts of the credit card that we see is the last 4 digits.
