I survived another weekend with Sammie & Dana!
We had a rainy Friday & Sunday, but since I was prepared for Friday, and their parents came home yesterday, we did OK. It was chilly but clear on Saturday.
Friday night, they were picked up from school by a neighbor, they got home at 2:45. Sammie was supposed to have soccer practice, but she checked emails & found out it was cancelled. We ordered pizza, some penne ala vodka & some pasta alfredo at 5:30, and were enjoying it by 6. (If you're wondering why so much food, I found a coupon for $5 off if you spent $30. Plus I knew we'd need some lunch, and this place charges a delivery fee, so 1 delivery made sense). We watched the Hannah Montana movie with our pizza (their choice), but it wasn't bad. They went off to bed at 10 with instructions to not wake me up before 8 since we had a free day (no soccer, no softball, no practice) on Saturday.
I heard them (I slept in Sammie's room) at 7:45, I stayed in bed. At 8:05, the 2 of them were in the room, jumping on me to wake me up--they waited until "after 8" to wake me up, the stinkers! Went downstairs to make breakfast--Mickey waffles. I have one of the new 5-in-1 bakers, it makes mini Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald waffles or whatever. I was very disappointed in the waffle maker--the waffles got stuck, so I had to keep spraying with cooking spray, and they never got really brown. So if you've been thinking about buying this product, I really don't recommend it. I prefer my old one Mickey waffle maker. (unfortunaly, they don't make those anymore, you can only find them on ebay.)
The girls showed me their newest collection--these Japanese erasers.

Being a good aunt, I told them I would buy them some, so we decided to take advantage of the clear day & walk to the store. They were so freaking cute I ended up spending $20 on them--they were $1 each. The girls were totally excited by all their new erasers. I of course was the best aunt ever!
We heated up some pizza & some pasta when we got home--and watched Apollo 13. I just love that movie & now they do too. They were absolutey fascinated with the idea that I was alive when that happened (I was 1 month shy of my 9th birthday) and their mom wasn't born yet.
We had a 5:30 reservation at the German restaurant, Grandpa & his girlfriend arrived at 5. We had a fantastic time, the food there is amazing. But I wouldn't want to eat there every day--the bill for 5 people was $105 --and we didn't have alcohol! But we all got to bring food home, so it was worth it.
Then we went off to Carvel & enjoyed some ice cream. Got back to the house about 7:30. Grandpa & his girlfriend left, we watched Harry Potter 3. Sent them off to bed at 10, but at this point we thought Sammie had a softball game at 10 AM.
But the rains came, the games got cancelled. Mom & Dad left the bed & breakfast at 7 rather than at 9, so they were home by 11:30. We were in the middle of a game of Harry Potter Scene It, but that was forgotten when mom & dad came in the door. I was home by 12:30, and I spent a good part of the day watching bad football (both the Giants & Jets lost & looked bad doing it.)
All in all, a great weekend. I had 3 rules at the start of the weekend:
1. no blood
2. no tears
3. no hitting
and all three were obeyed. A good time was had by all, and some nice new memories were made!
