For my DD's birthday she is going to be asking for donations to the local food pantry instead of gifts. How do I word this on the invitation?

My brother had a birthday party where everyone brought a gift to donate to charity instead of a gift for him. Here is the poem that we put on the invitation. Maybe you could modify it to work for your party. Good Luck!!!!

Please join this party with a birthday twist
By helping Santa fill out his Christmas list

Please bring a gift, but not for me
Unwrapped would be perfect you see

The Santa Fund will collect these new clothes & toys
And deliver these gifts to needy girls and boys!

Please join me in helping Santa out
The gift of giving is what it’s all about

Therefore I ask
You to join me at last
For my special charity birthday bash!!!

So come join the fun …
And do some crafts
It will be a blast at my bounce house bash!!

I'd probably just include a simple, to-the-point request on the invitation, like:

"In lieu of gifts, Jane requests that donations of non-perishable foods be brought to the party."

Depending on how much you want to say, you could follow that with: "Please help her realize her birthday wish of stocking the Food Pantry's shelves with some much-needed items."

Or add to the beginning: "Jane has more toys than she knows what to do with, so this year, in lieu of gifts, she requests..."

Good luck!
