Looks like the death knell has been sounded for the Back To The Future ride at US. Shame, as this was one of the first rides I ever went on in Florida and remains a firm favourite to this day. Hoping against hope that the rumours are only that, but it doesn't look good from here;

(Ps; can someone tell me how to shorten a link to just one word, like 'here' for example???)

Sad. Pity they can't revive it rather than replace it.

This is how you label a link. Replace my {} brackets with [] brackets

There was alot of talk of this at the universal parks last week - so me thinks it will happen. We made sure that we did Millionaire a couple more times before it closed, as this is one of our favourites - the kids love seeing if they can beat Mum and Dad

What a pity ~ When it opened it was light years ahead of its time :)

I would have liked to have one more go on it before it closed, but, sadly, not to be :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad1: :sad1:

Oh no! I love this ride, it's probably the best motion control out there for realism. Closing in Sept? Praying that won't be before the 25th, I'll make a special trip over there if I can to ride once more!

Sorry, but it just made me feel sick. :faint:

It's up there with Wild Arctic in the 'Rides I'll Never Do Again' box. If they replace it with a simulator on the same lines as Mission Space it'll be a huge hit. Just look how good the Mummy is compared to the outdated Kongfrontation it replaced.

According to the article on Night-Train's link, a Simpsons ride. I suppose it was only a matter of time before they appeared somewhere.

I read this a few days ago somewhere too, and at first I was disappointed that I'd never have another chance to ride it, but then I remembered last year I felt quite sick on it, and felt it was a bit on the bumpy side.
The kids enjoyed it too - but I'm sure a Simpsons ride will be an even bigger hit with them!! :thumbsup2

woohoo!! Fine with me. I loooove the Simpsons

doh!!

no way thats my dh fave ride and he was saying you'll have to go on it ahh well... thats a pity

It has got really outdated and far to bumpy... but it's a pity they couldn't just rehab it as I like the story - they just needed to use some of the Jimmy Neutron technology...

The problem is that those of us of a certain age :teeth: know what Back to the future is, whilst many now going to Universal have no idea or just a vague recollection of an 1980's movie.
I expect ET to go the same way sometime.

That is a pity, this was one of the first "big" rides that we done in US but have to agree with the article in that it has been showing it's age on recent trips but it sounds as if this was due to the apathy of US heads! We felt the same about Kongfrontation,as much as I like the Mummy ,I would rather that Earthquake had been replaced.
SD :woohoo:

Oh i'm sooooo dissapointed, I promised my nephew we would do it next year as it was one of the very first rides I went on during my first visit many years ago!!

We loved this ride back in 1985 (- oops! a BTTF joke :) ) i mean 1995 and again in 2001 but when we rode it in 2003 it was awful - DH had to sit out the next ride which was Men in Black cos it felt so sick and i had a bit of a headache cos of the amount of times my head was smashed against the side of the car - so no, not sad it is closing, from the write up it sounds like they have been running it at less that 100% quality anyway, which explains a lot. I like the Simpsons so don't mind that - be better if they did another blockbuster movie ride though like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings. (Don't think they are Universal films though) also Star Tours could do with updating a bit, shame there was a bit of rift between old George and the Studios. Looking forward to experiencing the Mummy ride as this was not open on our last visit - although i was a big fan of Kongfrontation. All in all, change is welcomed for those of us for visit Orlando every couple of years :cool1:

I took my kids on this Jan 2005 for the first time and they loved every minute of it, my 5 year old was really looking forward to riding this again in October :confused3 Still I understand how the next generation have probably never seen these films and it makes sense financially to give the land to a more up to date name. Closures always make me sad though....

Hear hear.

That's very sad news, I'm in the minority in our household over these ride - I just love it :cool1:

I do love the Simpsons, but can't imagine what the ride would be . . .
