More Aulani info

Just called and left a message for my guide (he is a part timer at the Woodfield retail location). I'll see if they are going to be having any events there like they are in Disneyland, and report back once I hear back (should be tomorrow).

We are at the Orlando airport right now and our friends that were staying with us went throught the DVC tour (we followed along). Their guide Jodi said all DVC resorts were getting a price increase to $120 per point on July 1st. This is because of the Pre-Sale prices for Hawaii of $114 per point.
She said the points charts were going to be about like the VGC. That is about all she could tell me and could not giv me any points charts.

When do "presale" prices usually end (for example when did it end for BLT)? Has anyone else confirmed that the discount is $6 off the $114? TIA! :goodvibes

What a temptation!! I would love to add on there, but the cost for the 6 of us to fly to Hawaii from Philly is just too high to visit there often enough. Maybe we'll get 7 month pixie dust and get there at least once!!

So Jan 31, 2011, I maybe able to make my reservations???? COOL!!:thumbsup2 Cant wait

Not exactly sure that is the case unless you own there...

I think that VCG were that owners had a 2 week window to book, then it went to everyone else. So, I would check into that a little further.

The points are going to $120.00 on July 1st for all DVC so the $6.00 off would make the incentive $114.00 per point.

I have an email into my guide to try to find out more information. If I find out anything great I will post it here.

Ok....

So I had called my guide on Friday, looking for info on Aulani and I didn't hear back from him Friday, Saturday, and early Sunday.

We were out shopping and DD3 fell asleep in the car while we were running errands so DW and I decided to drive out to Woodfield and let her sleep and personally pay our guide a visit.

Went into the location only to find out that our guide was no longer with the company, :sad1: - Alan was a great guy, and that we were at present unguided. A new guide named Jim walked out and adopted us.

I asked if the Woodfield location would be doing anything like the Aulani unveling that's going on in Disneyland this week.

He said no.

I said, ok, look. I've seen the leaked points chart online and have heard that it's going to be $114 per point, and that if you want to be a founding member you have to be one of the first 800 to buy 160 points or more. Could he confirm any of that?

He said, "I think you know a lot more than I'm at liberty to talk about until Thursday."

I said "Really?"

He said "Yeah, I really can't talk about any of that just yet."

I said "well, can you call me as soon as you can talk about it?"

He said "You'll be the first person I call"

So hopefully I'll hear something Thursday AM.

I crunched the numbers over the weekend and I can swing 160 points. That would allow us to go to a 1BR island view every other year in September. That should be nice.

I like your persistence! Our guide is saying the same thing. Mum's the word. We'll find out soon enough I guess.

September would be nice! I'm a teacher. So it's summer or winter break for us. We're looking at 250 points so we could go every other year and get a 1BR Poolside View in summer for 10 nights or 10 nights Island View over Winter break. Every time we take a 7 night vacation I always want more days. I'm excited to hear the details on Thursday

So, in short, if we add on points, it won't be at Aulani, or VGC, it will be at our home resort of VWL. It's a win win for us, and Disney.

We decided the same thing and in fact called our guide last week and added another 50 points to AKV. If we can get a reservation for Aulani at 7 months then we'll go to Hawaii. If it's impossible to get a reservation at 7 months at Aulani, then oh well. We still have hopes of getting into VGC at 7 months. Since we don't have kids we are not tied to school vacations. Hopefully that will increase our chances at both resorts.

I can't imagine committing ourselves to going to Hawaii every two or three years. And by buying points there, I consider it a commitment, even though the points can be used at another DVC property.

I'm squinting trying to read the bottom of the Aulani point charts that were posted then pulled off the DVC website but not before our friends at DVC news saved an image of them. It says something like this: "For all stays at Aulani, the State of Hawaii imposes a daily transient accommodations tax based upon the number of Vacation Points required for the stay and the per Vacation Point annual dues for the calendar year of the stay. This tax must be paid by check-out. The amount of the tax will vary from year to year and is subject to change."

My, doesn't that sound delicious. Good-bye zero-bill dance. Nothing more fun than coughing up an unknown amount of" transient" tax on real estate you "own."

Sorry if this was already batted around on another thread.

Would love to add on 150 if a 7 month mark reservation is not possible... If 7 months might be all right, I'd rather Add On 150 at SSR.

Humm I wonder why my guide told me all those info last week if they are not allow to say anything... could it be possible I was being used to leak info to DIS boards to stir up interest?? :confused3  :rotfl:

Build interest... or more likely the points chart was "leaked" intentionally as a way to get market feedback before info became official once sales start. I'm sure that Disney wanted to get a feel for whether or not there would be sticker shock among the most fervent of DVC fans (us) before releasing the figures to the general public... and spying on Disboards is certainly a cheap and efficient way for Disney to conduct market research!

As you can probably tell from my new sig pic... hubby and I are very excited about Aulani. We didn't think we would be, so we just purchased 160 at BLT in April. Now we're wishing we had waited and bought at Aulani instead. (I wonder if I could talk hubby into sticking BLT on resale and purchasing Aulani with the proceeds...) It's going to be a fast-finger race at the 7 month mark as all of us non-owners try to get in!!!

EDIT: Looks like the sales have begun and points were not tweaked! Priced were lowered a bit though. =)

For those of us on the boards yes the point charts are not bad when you compare to what we have been seeing(BLT, GCV). But I really hope with Hawaii they factor in the cost and the fact most people don't travel there every year or multiple times a year so they keep the charts at bay a bit. I was a cheer leader for Hawaii... but now i'll wait and see and i'm a West Coaster...The beach is fine but can only get you so far with no attractions I think.
