Just got off the phone with my guide, here is what he told me:

Pre-sale price: $114 per point, add-on up to 99 points and you can get $6 discount off.
Dues per point: $4.31
Resort opening date: Aug 31, 2011
First 800 who buy 160 points or more get to be a founding member and will have their name etched on one of four Pohakus. These stone monuments will be in display at the Resort.
That's all I have to report. :goodvibes

Thanks for the first report!

Going to have to look things over and see if we can swing an add-on there. Don't think we would add 160 points and be a founding member. But maybe a 100 point add on and go there every 3rd year.

Not as bad as I expected, but we will not be buying in because of the cost of airfare from Illinois. It will hopefully be a splurge one vacation.

I didn't expect that the cost for under 100 pts would be discounted $6. And the annual dues are better than I expected as well. I was expecting them to be around $4.50.

That makes them the third cheapest behind BLT and GCV ($1.05 less per point than BWV).

I am not sure about the discount, I am not planning to get more points at this time so I didn't ask question. I was just curious to know how to become a founding member.

is it $114 with a $6 discount = $108 per point
or
is it base price $120 and $114 after $6 discount?
:confused3

He told me regular price is $114, and he mentioned BLT is to increase the price from $112 to$??? very soon. And the fact that $114 minus the $6 discount make it cheaper to own at Aulani than in BLT.

Not surprising after seeing the point charts -- the "price" increase that many expected was done mainly by having the high point requirements and thus they will be selling far more points per unit than any other resort. A little surprising is the dues which I thought would be lower after seeing the point charts (far more owners/points per unit should translate to lower dues per point like it did at BLT) and you don't have any transportation costs but I suspect the real estate tax portion is probably going to be high in comparison to others and you have a Vero Beach effect -- you have more maintenance costs for a resort on the beach because of salt water effects on buildings and grounds and high insurance costs because of hurricane risk.

Yep.:surfweb:

We are at risk for hurricanes though nothing like the east coast. (fingers crossed, there's one out there now LOL) Of course the wear and tear will happen, and unfortunately, repairs are $$$ here, since everything is shipped in.

Now that has me thinking that $114 is the discounted price, because BLT's price is $120 discounted down to $112 (dependent on the required number of points).

No no my guide specifically said $108 per point. Can someone post it here, if find out more info?

I could actually care less about the price of Aulani. Not to dismiss the discussion, but we already have enough points to re arrange for stays in CA, and HI.
Our vacation habits are changing. We're already staying less at WDW, and more at DLR. We are already planning using our points at Aulani, instead of WDW. We don't need to buy points at Aulani to stay there. We can use up all our points at Aulani if we choose.
7 months out at VGC is becoming a problem, at Aulani it won't be. If they don't build a bigger DVC at DLR, then that's a concern for us. And that's what it is for us in a nutshell.
As we choose to stay closer to home for vacations, VGC and Aulani become more attractive for us.
Our twice a year to WDW has already evolved into once a year at WDW, and the rest of our points are used at DLR. When Aulani comes online, we'll use points earmarked for WDW, and not go to WDW in favor of CA and HI. That brings me to wanting to add on points to stay at WDW. So it goes full circle.
We will NEVER give up staying at a DVC at WDW in the long run. We love it too much there. However, we fully see giving up WDW for Aulani, and DLR in the short term.
So, in short, if we add on points, it won't be at Aulani, or VGC, it will be at our home resort of VWL. It's a win win for us, and Disney.

Thanks for the report! :thumbsup2

I wonder how many of each room type there will be. Will there be any dedicated 2 Bedrooms or will they build only lock-offs? I'm looking forward to when they officially release all the information!

BLT does not have it's own restaurant or check-in staff and it has a very small pool and bar area. The waterfront and much of the "curb appeal" of BLT is also dependent on CR. Some members have complained about the inconvenience factor of this, but as there are so many Disney-owned options close by, then it isn't a tremendous issue. Aulani would be a different story, as it is self-standing. Who would want to go a Hawaiian beach resort without a wonderful waterfront that offers all the amenities?! I could just imagine the reaction if the pool at Aulani was as tiny as the one at BLT!
