Sorry to keep bothering y'all about AKL, but we're getting kinda excited about going there. What are some of the childrens' activities for 6 year olds offered there?

My kids enjoyed making cookies at Jiko (free), coloring in the lobby with a native African CM (free) and watching animals at night with CM's with night vision goggles. There were loads of activities for kids that were free. You can paint an ostrich egg for $20. We weren't there on the day they were offering that. Would have been a neat souviner! All activities were posted on a bulletin board in the Lobby.
Have fun!! My kids are still talking about the cookies!! :goodvibes

My DS was 7 at the time. Also forgot to mention games in the pool conducted by CM's! :teeth:

Another activity by DD-5 enjoyed was the animal tracking. This took place on the paths of Arusha Rock where a CM hid stuffed animals (like Simba and others) and the kids had to use this beeping device to figure out where the animals were. It was to teach them how they track animals in the wild. My DD just thought it was fun and they got a bead on their bracelet as with any other activity they finish. They also had musical instruments at one of the lobby lookout areas that they were teaching the kids how to use (bongos, etc.). And don't forget the storytelling which was fun for everyone. One day they were doing crafts by the pool and fun pool games. Tons to do at AKL.....Enjoy!

Is there a link somewhere that would describe the activites at AKL?? I would like to know more about the storytelling and such

Me too, me too! I would love to compare the activities offered here to, say, the polynesian. i"ve read that the kids club at the Poly has an open house in the afternoon. Do they offer that at the Simba club, too? I'm trying to decide which deluxe offfers the most to kids.

I'm not sure of any links out there giving specifics but I'm sure if you wanted to call the resort directly, they could send you or fax an activities sheet. I noticed a board each day in the lobby posted the activities. Everything we participated in was not part of Simba's club but free and open to kids of all ages. I know each afternoon at 3pm the kids could decorate cookies at Boma which was fun. And what was nice is you didn't have to sign up or pay anything, just show up and have fun! And make sure to grab an animal checkoff sheet to walk around with so they know what they're looking for. The CM's there were so wonderful to our kids at the lookout areas helping them learn about animals and showing them thru binoculars. We stayed there 6 nights and hardly left the resort-our DD-5 would not let us, she was having a blast!! And could not pry them from the zero entry, huge pool!! The one day, the lifeguards starting throwing balls in to all the kids and they had to return them as fast as they could. Every day there was something different.
