MORE Adventures of the "Moms" Panel

And I just placed my order for the passporter at Amazon...if I only knew yesterday! arrgggg

Don't be concerned Beckie, I like Passporters too! I get one every couple of years, as they are great books! I write my books more for first time visitors and those who would not invest as much time as those of us on this forum would on their Disney vacations.

Sadly not everyone is as in love with WDW as we all are. Who knew?:confused3

I am so excited I have a place to hang with the rest of you!!! I am so excited to apply again this year! I am in the process of planning next year's trip right now and this just gets me MORE excited!!!!:banana::banana:

I know what you mean. I'm trying to get some friends of ours to go with us on our December trip. They say I sound like an infomercial..."but wait, there's more!. If you call within the next 10 minutes, you can get free dining"...Oh help us all!

HeHeHe.... That's me too! Between talking Disney, wearing Mickey / Disney World shirts and the desk supplies at work, everyone knows who to ask questions of. Last year alone, I helped three people plan their trips.

All of my friends know how big of a Disney fan I am and tried to tell my hubby before we were married. Other than a collection of Disney stuffed animals and my Mickey Mouse - Mouse pad, he never really saw it...until we had kids. Now he looks at me like I am nuts every time I bring up our next Disney trip. (Next One, as a family, is October 2010 for DS's 5th Birthday.) I have to admit it though, he endulged me and agreed to DVC. So, I get to take the kids several times next year, including the BIG family trip (10 of us) for the Birthday Celebration. Woo-hoo! :woohoo:

Will any of the current MOM's be staying on the panel? Does that mean that there will be fewer openings?

Okay, so here's my particular question, and hopefully, one of you girls on this thread can refresh my over-40 memory! :thumbsup2

Since I will be at work on that day, does anyone remember how long the application process stayed open?

I know once the limit is reached, they shut it down. So, does anyone remember how long it took to reach the 10k limit?

I don't want to have to rush home, rush my answers, and then submit! I'd like a little time to contemplate my responses again this year.

I'm hoping the 3rd time is the charm, and in MY case, that means making it past ROUND 1! Ha! Ha!

I'd have to do some checking, but I believe that it took several days for the application pool of 20,000 to be filled last year. Filling it out that night should be fine, but I wouldn't put it off for several days.

(I'm still wondering how many other guys are going to be competing with me for the one token dad spot.)

You never know...they may add another dad spot. :thumbsup2

That is what I remember too and I agree with your advice. As far as applying as a dad...so far you are the only one we know of! (Right? I don't think any other dads have come forward yet.)

For those of you going to the Mickey Moms Party tonight...have fun! Post pics if you can.

Also, some of you have asked about my blog - I finally updated it. I had to change the URL because of an email issue...anyway, if interested, you can find it here: http://diane-blogging.blogspot.com/

Well....I was WONDERING where your blog went!

I sat down last night to catch up on all my "Mommy" blogs, and yours was gone! :(

Glad to see it's back!

idk...I thought it was about 10 days or so or whenever they reached their limit (whatever comes first)...BUT...listen to this...

I saw a post on a freebies list that announced it out to the whole wide world!:eek::eek: I don't know how many subscribers she has (she has over 8000 followers on twitter alone)...so I think a lot of non-dis people might apply too...:scared1::eek::scared::crazy2:

I'd like to think and contemplate over my answers a little while, but I think I'm going to try and get them done that first day (morning?) at least and hope for the best!:goodvibes

Well, let's just hope that Leanne, Laura, and company can wade thru the non-Disney fanatics and others who aren't in it for their true addiction to Disney.

I once attended a Church called Rehoboth, and the Pastor used to say (to show his LOVE for it), "If you cut me, I'll bleed Rehoboth red!" :)

So, now I say, "If you cut ME, I "bleed" PIXIE DUST!" :rotfl:

I'm sure I read somewhere that it was open for 10 days and don't worry I think whoever reads the applications will know who truly loves WDW and knows their stuff :thumbsup2

I agree, I think they are pretty good at digging for Disney passion! Also, the application process was open to everyone last year as well. That's how they found Jo (UK) and I believe there was an applicant from Peru last year. She participated in our thread last year.

So what are we down to? 8 days?!:cheer2:

Good. I sort of remembered it that way, Jo, but I just wanted to make "doubly" sure! :thumbsup2

Surely, you don't think it's Leanne and Laura sitting there ALONE for endless hours and days reading, do you? :rotfl:

Well now, Diane, I didn't catch that yesterday, but you're right.

Even Allears put it in their newsletter yesterday. Is it really open to the WHOLE, WIDE WORLD this year?

Don't we have enough trouble competing with 10,000 other Disney maniacs, let alone the entire world? Oy vey!

As one of the Mom Panelists said--time to light the candles and hit the Church prayer lists! ;)

...and really? ONLY 8 DAYS LEFT? Time for the jitters to set in!!!!

I just found this thread - was thinking about applying this year. I was wondering if some of the Moms on the panel could share what their experience has been like over the past year. What exactly does the job entail? What were some of the highlights of being on the Panel?

I also just found this thread......I can't wait to apply for the third time. I also must confess to being "that person who just can't stop talking about Walt Disney World". I've been a huge Disney fan since I was a toddler in the late 1950's and my Grandpa's nickname for me was "Donald Duck" since my initials were DD. Family and friends now refer to me as Disney Donna when planning a trip to WDW.......one friend calls me "her personal travel agent" even though I'm not in the travel industry at all!!!! Well, everyone......Good Luck next Thursday!!
