MORE ADDED - new reviews of gluten free dairy free food from Dec 08 trip with pics

It is dinner time and I had no breakfast or lunch. Torturing me with them pretty food pictures, not fair. I did eat around 1 am cookies, california rolls and rice chips. I love seeing all the good food and this shows that there is hope.

What is upsetting is that a Mexican Restaurant does not have gluten free chips. I go to a restaurant that makes their own but from real tortillas. It is not that hard and Mission sells tortillas and chips that are guaranteed gluten free. We are not talking about an abuelita making tortillas but a large company that is GF. Another black mark for the San Angel.

I know, I had to go to the kitchen and get cooking after typing that up!

This afternoon I made a honey lime glazed chicken, broccoli, lemon dip with sea salt, and two batches of cookies for the holidays: 1 is a gluten free dairy free chocolate chip, coconut, walnut blend. So rich and yummy!
The other was my first attempt at a Mexican Wedding Cookie (gluten free, dairy free, egg free). Man are those DELICIOUS! That was so good.

See, Disney needs to spend a day eating with me at home and they'd get PLENTY of new ideas for diet restricted desserts! LOL
But now, I am stuffed! At least my freezer is ready for the holidays!

I tried the Kinnich hot dog buns today and they are delicious but I guess I still am not used to having any baked goods. It would be nice if they could come over and see our cooking but mine is plainer as mom is on a low sodium, SID or finicky or both, no sauces, diabetic diet. I have a no soy and gluten plus SID diet that is supposed to be low sodium and carbs, lol. At least last inght I ate cold yam, parsnip, rutabaga, and other veggies in orange sauce.

I remember the hardtack that they call gluten free bread and just got Mary's gross crackers, shutters. I greatly appreciate the candid report and pictures and hope it I can remember where it is so I can show other GF people what great service can be had at WDW. I will never get back to wDW but I can dream in your report. Now to get me a Lara bar to tide me over as I finish reading your report.

You mentioned the cream on your report, you can get an soy whipping cream called Soyatoo, it is vegan, dairy, gluten and cholesterol free.
It comes in a can just like dairy cream or a box to whip yourself.

Well how crazy is that! Soy whipping cream. I wonder what else is in it? I'll be on the lookout at the supermarket!

Ingrdients: organic soymilk (water, organic soybeans), coconut oil, sugar-beet syrup, organic maltodextrin (from corn and rice), fractionated palm oil. Contains less than 2% of : natural vanilla extract, tartaric acid, carragreenan, sea salt, fractionated palm kern oil.

You can get it a wholefoods, or I buy it in bulk from the vegan store.

Thanks so much for the new reviews...the girls and I have looked at your '07 GFCF Disney food pics MANY times, they will be so excited to see your new updates!

And I agree with the previous poster about the soy whip -- the one you whip yourself is a better value and we find that it tastes better than the spray can (although the girls liked having that option since they miss canned whipped cream sometimes)...we did the whip yourself one the other day though and it was soooooooo good with fresh berries!

Fun! We also ate at Down Town Disney two times, but I didn't list those photos. We stopped at Rainforest Cafe again, as the girls loved that one. It was okay, but so expensive! It ended up costing more than our disney dining choices! We had a 20% off card that applied to our disney meals.

So, Rainforest was fine. I had a HUGE salad that was pretty good. Bean had burger, no bun, the regular stuff they offer for kids.
Nothing special to report. Cool environment!

BUT the big treat for us was Fulton's Crab House.

It's that boat/restaurant at DownTownDisney. We were able to walk in there for lunch on Thanksgiving Day and we had the BEST food!!! Bean had a filet mignon with potatoes and veggies. She loved it! It was a great meal. I had a typical Thanksgiving meal with the BEST cranberry sauce, a butternut squash soup that was dairy free, crab meat mixed in (unique!).

They had this beautiful pecan salad (this is my dh's salad, not sure if that is cheese or carrot on top?).

It was fabulous. We would go back there without hesitation!

The only downside was that for potatoes, they just brought out round whole potatoes with no gravy or sauce, which is pretty boring. If I were ordering again, I would ask for a quick sauce to be prepared (either a garlic oil or a rice flour gravy). Also, I don't think we ate dessert there, and if we did, I think some sorbet or rice dream would have been our only choice, if I recall correctly, but we were too stuffed to even think of it!

Really a great time there!

Did they have "fake" butter anywhere (i.e. dairy free margarine)? If not, did most places have the seasoned olive oil or some other option with the GFCF bread/rolls or did they serve them dry?

many places would serve them dry, but if you asked for olive oil for the bread, they would bring it out. Some places think to bring out infused oils, but not always. It's good to ask :)

I know that with advanced notice some places have dairy free margarine

The potato cart at Liberty tree square does have dairy free margarine if you notify the speacial diet team in advance.

My sheet says they have Fleischmann’s Unsalted Margarine and it is listed as NON dairy available with advanced notice.

Hope this helps!
