Hi all,

I was talking to a friend they other day and they said how, when they finally depart this mortal coil, they want their ashes scattered at WDW. He actually wants to be "poured" into a firework and shot off during Illuminations!!! He was horrifying us by talking about people wandering around WS saying "oooh that was a gritty firework.... ewwww!

While the Illuminations thing may just be pusing things a little too far, does anyone know if Disney do allow people's ashes to be scattered there - maybe in non-public areas? I can't find any reference to it but then I seriously doubt they'd publicise it much, would detract from the "happiest place on earth" vibe if those kind of adverts were about!

Any ideas?

I am certain I have read that they do not allow this. I am also pretty sure that some families will have secretly found their loved ones a final resting place in WDW.

Reading that thread, many people have been doing this, just not officially. We were trying to think of a way of getting the ashes through customs, I thought of an emptied out talcum powder bottle. Who would ever suspect!!!!

Gosh, I dont know! I have decided though that I want the music from Illuminations played at my funeral. It reminds me of some the happiest times I have had at WDW with my children.

Im pretty sure aslong as you have the correct paper work with you the ashes will have no problems going through customs - obviously you cant say what you actually intend to scatter them tho!

I thought that I read that Disney do not agree with this but obviously people still go ahead with scattering their ashes as it can be beyond Disney's control.

Personally if I had a choice i would go with this.

Currently I have about 10 kids goiing mad in my house and would love to go mad with them

Sounds a lovely idea.

Am I the only one who finds the idea of walking around WDW and possibly stepping on somebody's ashes a bit creepy :guilty:

It is a little but when I'm there I am so happy I probably wouldn't be thinking about that :confused3

I think most people who have done it have put the ashes into the Seven Seas Lagoon, the water near the castle or into flower beds. No one seemed to mention just dropping it onto the pavements so I doubt you'd be walking on it. Plus if you go far enough back and think how many humans have died since stone age man, every time you walk on soil you're probably walking on someone technically. Best not to think about it really!!!!

I remember reading ages ago on a site that someone had deposited their grandad/uncle (can't remember) in Pirates of the Caribbean and the family always salutes him when they ride past. I always think about it when I go through.

I think that sounds like a great idea - I'd want mine let go riding around Big Thunder, they'd have to make sure there was no one in the carriage behind though!

This is a definite possibility for my final rest. While I wouldn't want to shot off in a firework, having my ashes deposited in the Seven Seas Lagoon is a likely scenario.

This thread is great.
What a fab idea.

I laughed my head off about the Pirates of the Carribean bit.
I was imagining someones grandad/uncle coming back as a ghost, but he has borrowed the clothes off one of the fake pirates on the ride, and he could wave to everyone, and we'd all be freaked out by this really real looking pirate.

I am going to have to have a think where I want to be sprinkled.
