Babynurse -
and I think the landscaping husband needs a kick in the nads!!!!!!
how is diving under a woman so she falls on you and not the floor then carrying her to a bed NOT PHYSICAL??????

Some people are dumb.

I could never do what you do. I admire it.
I'm glad my job gets to help people, but I'm far removed from the patients. It used to hurt so bad when the clinic I billed for lost a patient - and I'd never even met them.
Thank you for being on the frontlines.
:hug::hug::hug::hug:

BBN: I wish I lived next to the hospital you work at.

I love my Intro to Education class. It really puts into spective, everything I've been working so hard at.

Just wanted to check in. Hope you all find some down time and have a great day!

Thanks for all the kind words Celery. I wasn't looking for a pat on the back, but it's much appreciated. I think I needed a hug, which you also provided. Does this mean I'm like a girl or something???? I can't get the image of her eyes staring into mine out of my head. Why do our brains get so transfixed on one thing and then run with it?

Mony, that is so nice of you to say that. I know I've said this before, but I love the nurses and doctors I work with. And whenever we go through stuff like that, or like a couple of weeks ago when that 9 yo coded, or when baby's get really sick, it bonds us together. We are a pretty close knit group. And while we might talk smack to each other and about each other, nobody else better say a word against one of us. lol

MommyP, I think you jinxed me with your tales of women who just gave birth and bleeding to death!!!

Sometimes it just really hits me hard that people's lives depend on whether I know how to do my job right or not. One medication error, one false move in a code, one slip in the nursery, and the results could be fatal. I have had days when I think I should just walk away. Find something else to do. I was really feeling that way this morning. I was thinking what if we hadn't responded fast enough, what if the doctor didnt call us back right away, what if we weren't in there and she hit the floor and split her head open, what if she had the baby in her arms and did that.

One of the nurses said her dh told her that she could never do the job he does, because it is so physical. He is a landscaper for a golf course/country club. She replied "Yeah but if you screw up a blade of grass dies. If I screw up a human being dies" *sigh*

maybe I should have stuck to secretarying.

Elisabeth!!!!:hug::hug: As Cel said, I could never do what you do. I greatly admire you for it, but I get wuckety at needles, blood that doesn't belong to my children, and most other bodily fluids. Thank the Lord you were there to help Kristin with that patient!

The DH of that nurse needs a thump upside his head! Or, as Cel said....

and I think the landscaping husband needs a kick in the nads!!!!!!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Day 2 of my at-home vacation was lovely! The kids and I spent the day together, got some errands done, went out for a snack, played in the yard. Just a laid-back and relaxed day. The weather has been gorgeous too.....warm and sunny, but with a great breeze! Aaaahhhhhh!

I was going to take the train into Boston today and walk around the city with the kids, but Ted Kennedy's body was moved to the Kennedy Library today, effectively rendering the city inaccessible without ridiculous delays. Without disrespecting the dead, I must say that I have seen and heard enough about the life and death of Ted Kennedy to last me 10 lifetimes. Virtually all other programming on TV has been pre-empted all week, and we can't even get a real newscast....just coverage of the latest comings and goings of the family to the compound in Hyannisport. Oy.

bbn - Sending lots of kudos your way :grouphug: It's kind of scary to think that birthing babies can still be that life-threatening. Your story brought tears to my eyes.

Lil G - Let us know if you take the BLT plunge! Three more weeks til I'm there!!!

Cel - LOLing over your nads comment :lmao:

Lynette - Yay for staycationing, but sorry your Boston plans were thwarted. Be like me and just don't watch the news . . .

Mony :goodvibes

 to Everyone Else!

DS MADE THE WATER POLO TEAM!! :cool1::cheer2::cheer2:

For Labor Day weekend - hes going to go to....

MICHIGAN STATE!! :yay::cheer2:

The land of DH's birth - his father's alma Mater!!

:worship:May God continue to Bless DS and keep him lifted UP!!

Tomorrow we're headed to Chicago to prepare to cheer him on in the Triatholon - weather is BRRRrrr COLD!! Seriously!! Its raining all day today, all morning tomorrow - hopefully it will stop raining!! But it wont be higher than 60 deg F - and lows in the 50's :faint:

Elisabeth....:hug::hug: LYLABBTLP!!!! Ha!! :lmao: You are an amazing bbn. :worship: I'm glad you took your moment to cry and process all that. You know how I feel in that matter. Now, dip, roll, and enjoy. Courtesy of me. Wil A brief quote from my favorite Rascal Flatts song be fitting for this moemnt?

Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend till you break
Cause it's all you can take
On your knees, you look up
Decide you've had enough
You get mad, you get strong
Wipe your hands, shake it off
Then you stand

Every time you get up
And get back in the race
One more small piece of you
Starts to fall into place

My baby sister has the swine flu. No joke. It seems like everyone just talks about the swine flu. I didn't think I would know someone who has it! I guess Xavier is talking about cancelling classes next week and a bunch of people on her floor have it. She had to go home because she's not allowed to be in the dorm with it. I just talked to her and she sounded so pathetic. Poor thing. Say a prayer for her if you have a second. She was already working hard to adjust to college and for this to hit her, I think it's a lot.

I'm exhausted and I should already be in bed so a big hi and a hug for everyone.
:grouphug:

:goodvibes....thank goodnesss......"you"...was there babyn.,

....lil' miracle worker, :thumbsup2. obvious~ly.....she held on

because you refused to let go!!! thank you for sharing your life

experiences. [ it was already self evident....how much you care in
your chosen career.....& it is because of your will~ness to out
all your feelings..make the difference! :yay:]

* as you know..i've have mentioned some of the very special
nurses..that gave me the privilege .....to "practice" the art of
nursing.....

....you are! a life preserver!!! :littleangel:

fyi...i haven't begun...to tell ..of all the nurses...that made me!

..but isn't God great?!..in that listening to life~saving procedures,
it was your gift of caring....& giving hope...that made the difference
...in her "tug of war"....to keep her life. so you cry?! for the rest of
us...exactly, the feeling you have...for giving the unexplainable , that
saved her life. simply demonstrating your power in faith.

we need nurses..like you, :cheer2:

...psssst, as mentioned before, i have been in a terrible funk, due to
"trying-pia" things....& esp. losing one of my dearest nurses. friend.[ still
haven't recover ]. worst..bleeding to death..while in icu?! @
myself..for not raising more cane!

you story..reminded..me......how important...the tiny-lil' things can be.

* i can't explained it or even begin to guess...but it was a "matter" of
life over death.....no matter how critical the newborn...."always" allowed
the mother to hold, before transporting.

....reference back to being a "terrible parent"...thread, well...all of
kids....none...does...drugs/etoh..or even smoke. nor do they have
interest in that stuff.....and to me, that's an important goal....we
had , raising our kids.

:surfweb:,

now college football??? wt?...........forgot! well i'm nearly a senior,

:rolleyes1. the media talks..about how terrible the big ten is! [ watch
osu~ knock..off usc....] butttie, i'll tell you....a team..i like to
see in this year..championship game?...go gophers! esp. with their
new stadium....something they've been needing for a long, long,
time.

moo....are you still rooting the spartie nation? poor
michigan??? { i don't think....people did not recognized how great
their 07 team..was { esp. with hart & hemme..and their receivers..:eek:}
....remember....who they "whipped"..in their bowl game, that year??
florida! * the very same..team < even better> , that beaten
osu...[ though, they had alot referee "assistance. ] i think
they still would have won..but it would have been 'a game..liked
the wolverines/gators "free for all". :yay:

..wt?...was you paying attention?? * footnote..iowa....beat who?
...lsu..the same year , & who did they played for the national champ...
the very next year??? osu? &&&& if yuo could.."ask"..my work crew..
they would tell...you the year before.....that i predicted..it was
going to be an osu/lsu game??? why?..think $$$$$ . sad.

....yah!:yay: i love..college football [ not as much as a lil'cutie...

i know, :rolleyes1.]........any hoot-tooters....if it was in my power,

i stop!!! all the "cheating" ...not the players/teams..but behind
the "scenes". :rolleyes1. ...double psst~~~how to stop?....
enact...a corrective measure solution...via....applying "math"
priciples..to do the "figuring"....surprise, how well & fair...
it would be..for all the teams....after all, for the final scores
to have..true meanings....don't the measurements need to be
accurate? oh. first....address some of the rules, where things
are being "hidden", jus saying?

ok..wt?..,my head..thinks...."see"..fla vs osu, but my heart....would

..to see a gopher versus another sec team..,"miss-a-sippe! :hippie:

ps~~~triva..the gophers ranks second...for numbers....of national
championships..behind osu 7, versus, 5 for minnesota. isn't that a
"kicker?",...... moo?...msu..is the only school in the country..having
champion teams..in football, basketball...& hockey! oh??? fyi..i
still remember..a few years....ago....j. cooper, had the best team
in the nation..& it was msu.....who upset them? [ that was a great,
great game....@ ohio stadium]

...one of the best college tradityion ever created...is the osu marching
band...coming out of the "tunnel". it effects...everyone...how do i
know???......because the parents..of the msu travel team....told me!

my favorite player?..gotta be....the gators' tim tebow....* he deserves
another h. trophy......

:hug:BBN - I'm sorry I missed your earlier post - I've been doing a lot of drive bys lately - trying not to get too involved -

but honestly I admire you!! I love nurses!! :grouphug: It so can be a thankless job! I know teachers get a lot of praise as well as negative complaints - but at least the work hours are decent! your shift work - I admire you!! :worship:

Mony YOU go GIRL!!

Moo have you been reading the posts about BLT? :scared1: I've been hanging out on ears and watching the live streaming from BLT :cool1: the 1 bedroom windows are AMAZING!! Count me jealous!!! :woohoo: for your trip!!

Good luck to your DS, the weather here is just as terrible Sandy.

Hi Allie! I was so used to your FB "screen name" I couldn't remember your dis name for the life of me! Can you believe that? Then Sandy mentioned it in a post. How is your daughter from having had the Swine Flu?

My baby sister has the swine flu. No joke. It seems like everyone just talks about the swine flu. I didn't think I would know someone who has it! Hope she's getting all the TLC she needs. Big hugs to baby sis. I hope she recovers quickly.

It's Friday, I have one child coming today. This is getting frustrating.

Have a great day!

Wow BabyN. You did a great job!

ty. I checked on her went I went in to teach my childbirth class last night. Her hemoglobin was down to 6!! Didn't you say yours had dropped to 8? I know you know how tired she is going to be. I feel for the both of you!
Poor little mamas.

Elisabeth!!!! :hug::hug::hug:

Y'all are the sweetest buch of cyber people ever. Well, except PJ. heh.

p.s. I wish I lived in Boston so I could relive Ted Kennedy's life x 10 too???

p.s.s. Glad you're having a nice staycation!

bbn - Sending lots of kudos your way :grouphug: It's kind of scary to think that birthing babies can still be that life-threatening. Your story brought tears to my eyes.

People always say they envy me because I get to rock babies for a living. And that part is true, but there is a downside. I was having second thoughts yesterday about being a bbn, but I'm ready to jump back in today. You guys are always so supportive of everybody when the chips are down. I appreciate that.

DS MADE THE WATER POLO TEAM!! :cool1::cheer2::cheer2:

That's great news! Woot!

Yes, I KNOW how you feel about crying. Sheesh you should buy stock in Kleenex! Ty for the song though. Now stop being nice to me. It's not natural.

Next time you see your sister go up to her and say "Do I smell bacon?" heh

:goodvibes....thank goodnesss......"you"...was there babyn.,

Thanks Lil G! And I'm sorry you have been in a funk about your nurse friend, but you are right that God is great.

And on a side note, I think Tim Tebow is awesome.:)

:hug:BBN - I'm sorry I missed your earlier post -

Np. There are times when all I can do is pop in and say "hi" too. Life is crazy sometimes, but ty.

and now for something joyous!!!

HAPPY GIVING BIRTH DAY TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The redhead is 9. WooHoo. We sent iced sugar cookies for his bday treat at school. And yes, we sent extra for the teachers. Cuz I'm cool like that.

And I know some of you have heard the story before, but after he was born (my shortest labor! although he was NINE days overdue. harumph) he and I had a moment by ourselves in the delivery room as the dh had stepped out to get the siblings. The t.v. had been on in the background, but the volume was turned down he was being born. So I'm holding him and glance up and see a video coming on and I turn up the volume and here's what I heard. I get chills everytime I hear this song. Makes me think of that sweet chubby redheaded baby, blinking his eyes, and smacking his lips, and looking up at me right after he was born.

I do swear that I'll always be there.
I'd give anything and everything and I will always care.
Through weakness and strength, happiness and sorrow,
for better for worse, I will love you with
every beat of my heart.)

From this moment life has begun
From this moment you are the one
Right beside you is where I belong
From this moment on

From this moment I have been blessed
I live only for your happiness
And for your love I'd give my last breath
From this moment on

I give my hand to you with all my heart
Can't wait to live my life with you, can't wait to start
You and I will never be apart
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you, I promise you this
There is nothing I wouldn't give
From this moment on

You're the reason I believe in love
And you're the answer to my prayers from up above
All we need is just the two of us
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you, I promise you this
There is nothing I wouldn't give
From this moment
I will love you as long as I live
From this moment on

This thread should really come with a warning.

BabyN- Your babynursing story gave me the chills however don't be haunted by the look in that lady's eyes. If I was in her situation, I would want someone making eye contact, calling my name, willing me to hang on. I am glad you were there and very glad she is feeling betterish. My hemoglobin has been that low. At those levels you are out of breath just sitting still. However you feel great when you finally get to 8 or 9 just in comparision. I went with saline over transfusion too but my story was much much less dramatic. And being O neg, the the hospital was happy to let me try to recover with my own homemade blood. Heh. Happy Giving Birth Day! I can't believe the Redhead is 9. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend celebrating!

Lynette- Hi stranger! Glad you are enjoying the end of summer. We have been in school two weeks plus it is raining everyday. I am ready for fall weather and fall meals :)

Mony- I am jealous of your Cancun trip!

Peej- I saw your snack story. And that is all I am going to say about that. Wait. No. I just don't understand people. That is all. I hope your sister feels better quickly and her semester goes smoothly.

Funny, that you should mention ol' H1N1. I have a friend who works in hospital admin for a group of children's hospitals. She was over for dinner and discussing that very issue. She was very informed and it was interesting to compare the media versions vs what she has been told.... which includes.. The vaccine is currently in human trial at some children's hospitals but a) there will only be 2 months of human trial data by October when the vaccine is set to be released and b) no proof yet that the stuff actually works. However we(as moms) are not scared about the lack of a vaccine because it is the flu and hand washing is really the only thing you can do to prevent most casually transmitted viruses. The most alarming issue, IMO, is ONE company has rights to make the vaccine. Who ARE they sleeping with????? Anyway- our intellectual conversation then moved to conspiracy theories regarding the whole enchilada of issues. Conspiracy theories go great with pizza btw.

BBN - I'm so glad you were there to help your coworker, and that patient! I would have passed out and hit the floor when I saw all that blood. :thumbsup2 for keeping your wits about you and helping her. Now the DH....:rolleyes1 I agree with CEL. ::yes::

No my DD didn't have the Swine Flu, her school got closed because three kids AT her school got it. Not chastising you Sandy, just clarifying. For those on FB, I wasted $30 at the Dr.'s office yesterday for her to tell me to keep doing what I was doing. DD has a BAD ingrown toenail. I'm trying to cut her some slack because she has only been there three weeks. Guess you gotta start somewhere. :rolleyes1

Sandy - Congrats to DS! :cheer2: Have DH and DS #1 had any job leads?

Sorry I haven't been on, but 6th Grade homework is killing all of us!!! :faint: DD is finishing until 8:30 -9:00 at night! :scared1: I KNOW it wasn't like this when my DS was in 6th. Our sixth grade is still in the elementary school, so it is a little different than most. Also, they are trying something new this year, and they rotate between all four teachers. Well, you would think that they (the teachers) would get together and not give all their "heavy" homework on the same day!!! Ok, rant over, TY

Oh and Twinks I don't know if I ever wished you a Congratulations on your upcoming twinkette. :cutie:

Mony
- :rotfl2: Sometimes, I even get confused. Reason why you shouldn't have multiple personalities.

PJ - for your sister. I got mono a month after starting college and it made for a rough start. Could be why I never finished? :rolleyes1 Make sure she cleans EVERYTHING!!!.....or has someone do it for her.

BabyN - Yes mine was 8 something five days after birth. It was 9.4 on Wednesday. I can't imagine how well I am going to feel when it's back to normal. I'm wondering if it was already low before I delivered.

I did tons of laundry today and cleaned the house.

Spent a few hours at Urgent Care. Wanted to wait until Sat to take baby to her own Dr. but luckily I called for hours and they are not open tomorrow.

She's been vomiting and loose diapers, and not eating, and fever for a few days, so we got a bit concerned.

She just has a viral infection in her throat/stomach. First strep culture came back negative.

Happy Birthingday Day Elisabeth.

We just celebrated our last August birthday yesterday. I have 3.

Zach is now 11 (aug 10), Maddy is 2 (Aug 13) and Mal turned 5 yesterday.

I switched gears with my neck issues and am now seeing a Chiropractor. Went for my second visit today. So far, so good. Weird hearing your body make cracking and crunching noises without being injured.

Hope you all have a nice weekend. Ours will be rainy and cold. Brrrr.

Hi, checking in. Anybody miss me?

Weekend break from week from hell #1 until week from hell #2. I got home at 9 on Wednesday, worked till 12:40 am from home then, yesterday I got home at 11 (no more work after that), tonight I left at 6 and worked till 9 or so.

Oh, we finally have an opening at a hotel. Guess which one?.........

My old job :rotfl:

I dont particularly want that one back either...

BBN, wow, some story, thanks for being in that job! :grouphug:

I'm too tired to think of all that was posted, but cheers and prayers as needed and or appropriate. Wish I could remember Pj's all inclusive line here and shamelessly steal, but alas, I can't.

TGIF!

Peej - Sending pixie dust to your little sis pixiedust: Hope she gets better soon.

Mony - Same get well wishes for Maddy pixiedust: We sure are having some crappy weather, aren't we? I'm hoping for no rain on Sunday - we're going to try again to get to the Renaissance Festival.

Sandy - I sure have been reading the BLT-related posts over on the DVC board! :thumbsup2 And I'm really glad we booked a one-bedroom instead of a studio :goodvibes Sounds like the studios are pretty small and not that great for more than a couple people.

Marita - Yep, I missed ya!!! Sounds like you had a pretty rough work week  I saw your FB post about the shuttle launch and we watched it too :) One of my friends from work is down there this week and her family was going to try to see the launch. Hope they were able to.

Twink - I know what you mean about those vaccine-makers. We have not far from where I work. They sure seem to have the market cornered. I just received an e-mail this week listing a bunch of reasons not to get the vaccine :confused3 It's so hard to know what to do.

I hear you on the handwashing though. I don't like that Purell stuff because it's scented, so I just keep alcohol wipes in my purse. Makes me feel kinda like Monk

bbn - Belated Happy Birthing Day! :cake:

Twinkie - I hear you on the vaccine and conspiracy talk over pizza. lol. I choose not to vaccinate my little ones with a brand spankin new vaccine. I'll wait till there is more research thank you very much. Besides I NEVER get them the flu shot. I got it once when I was pregnant during flu season, only because I tend to get really sick if I do catch something while pregnant. But as for the flu, my family has never gotten it anyway since no one is in school or the nursery.

The government wants your kids shot up with everything little thing. I'll stick with the vaccines for deadly things and let other things run their course. And from now on I'm not doing the MMR until age 5. Isaac had a horrible reaction to it, I've never seen him so miserable. He was inconsolable that night and had a knot on his arm for weeks. Poor baby.

Chad's doing a side job with my Dad this morning to work off some of the money we owe them.

Can you believe my boys are still not home? I was going to take them back this week, but Mom wouldn't let me have them back yet.

(I hope that poor lady from BabyN's hospital has lots of help at home until she gets better)

Anyhoo, they are coming back today. I've had Isaac all week because he needed some one on one time and discipline.

Tomorrow we're taking Ellie to church for the first time. I doubt we'll even be able to get in the door. lol
