morning everyone.......still mighty cold here......watched the neighborhood kiddos at the bus stop and it is 20 below zero........I hate winter honest.....it will be warmer by Saturday into Sunday. I doubt if the ski resorts will be open today. They usually close down when the threat of icicles falling down the slopes is on...
So schools get cancelled if it is how cold in your neck of the woods lexi?

We keep our main floor temp at 70 cause I am old and I hate to be cold. hubby went to the two other apartments and put the temps up to 60 just in case the pipes want to freeze up. We dont rent anymore and he is fixing them up for selling this joint in the spring.....

Megara had a hard time this morning.....her little paws were so cold and her tail was hugging her belly....well until she squatted..

have a good day everyone

It's cold? I do NOT go outside when it gets cold enough to instantly freeze my inner nose and eyeballs mid-blink.

Kids are off today! Hee hee, I can't wait till the time I normally wake them up so I can fling on their light all panicky and say, "HURRY, you're going to be late for school!!!!" :rotfl2: It's sick, but fun. (whatever, don't feel sorry for them! They soooo deserve it).

1. Thank you BBN!

2. I switched to Sam's Cola and generic mac-n-cheese a long time ago due to the prevailing economic suckiness. The Sunnybrook animals can handle generic food.

1. YW. How did you do??

2. I do get some generic stuff for the humans too. Some things are not genericable though, imho.

Back when we were breeding the Labs the vet told us to buy only 1 or 2 different kinds of dog food b/c it was essential for puppy development and b/c Labs are a large breed and if you give them the wrong food as pups their bones can grow too fast and cause damage later in life.

However, now that Molly has been spayed this no longer is a factor. Sam's Choice Kibble and Bits has to taste as good as the real stuff, right?

bbn...diid I miss some kinda freak blizzard that only hit Sunnybrook Farms? Why the helk did your childs have a delay?
p.s. did you mention Goofy....:woohoo:

The sun is ALWAYS shining here. duh

No, they had a two hour delay b/c at 9 a.m. it is 2 degrees instead of 0. So, this makes perfect sense.

p.s. Yes I did. Calm down.

I am ignoring that reference, BbN. And you would be wise to do the same. Cuz I am in a goodish mood and you ought not to ruin that.

Babynurse-- they just said on our new all pet food is going up in price....Buddy might have to change cat food too.

What isn't going up in price these days. *sigh*

What's sad is that they go to my church. Makes it kind of awkward, but my director told his teacher to write in the note that he spat on me, so that mom knew why he didn't get a treat today

That is awkward. Glad you werent hit by the spittage.

RE: obnoxious kids. I sent one to the principal today as well. He told me he hated me and that my class was a load of crap.

He sounds like a freakin' genius. :duck:

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

You too.:)

what temp do you keep your place at?

usually around 68 ish. we bump it down at night though. i read somewhere that keeping it cooler actually helps people sleep better at night.

morning everyone.......still mighty cold here......watched the neighborhood kiddos at the bus stop and it is 20 below zero........

wow. it makes our 0 look like a heat wave!

It's cold? I do NOT go outside when it gets cold enough to instantly freeze my inner nose and eyeballs mid-blink.

I hate the frozen eyeball feeling. :crazy2:

HEY, they moved the smileys. Here's something to warm up the ladies.:firefight

"They call me the fireman, thats my name. Makin my rounds all over town puttin out old flames ..."

Marita - I was born. I'm 27. Not that I remember it. ;)

When our nighttime temps drop into the 40's we set the heat to 67-69, only when we have a baby in the house. He still has been waking up these last few nights. I wish he would just sleep with us, but it's like playtime all night long after he gets his belly full.

In the summer was keep the AC at 79 during the day and 77 at night. It's freakin hot, but it's all we can afford. lol

Pet food - I've been having to buy the cats name brand because Walmart never has the Special Kitty anymore.

who's George Strait?

The dog food that our doggie is on keeps us away from the vets. She was getting the itchies and would make a boo boo on her belly and then would have to go on steroids and or antibiotics. So she is on Wellness now and she gets one cup in the morning and one cup at night. All natural foods. BUT we are going to the vet this pm because she has a problem. Her glands that are usually expressed when a doggie puts their tail up......and or goes potty well.....she doesnt get rid of the stuff easily....so she stinks like a fish....we wash her with baby wipes per suggestion from the vet.....but tonight she is going to be expressed and thank goodness.....
The things we do for these dang pets........who we love soooooooo much::yes::

some of sam's choices are pretty good actually, i do agree that some things are just not genericable

Awww thanks. Nothing like a personal greeting to make me all verklempt. :flower3:

Our house is set at 66 in the winter. I try to remember to turn it down to 62 at night but I don't always remember. We do run a space heater in the little boys room because it is over the garage and colder than the rest of the house. It stays toasty in there and they sleep better when warm. I do think adults sleep better when cold.

Class was good- I have a great set of students. Turns out that the best pharmacy school in the area has my class (into to botany) as a pre-req so I have a bunch of highly motivated future richie rich pharmacists and some free spirits that think "plants are cool" (how much you want to bet they are going to try to get my opinion on growth lights, forced flowering, and hydroponics-- HA!!!!!) and one person who just wants to graduate.

I am feeling especially lazy today. I like the new collection of easily accesible smilies. ::cop: :drive:

Pumba: George Strait is a country music singer. He has like a bazillion number one country music hits. He sings that fireman song I just posted. He has been called King George and King of Country cuz all his songs tend to go way up the charts.

MommyP: I bet 79 still feels pretty good when it's 110 in the shade in the middle of the summer. :beach:

Last edited by babynurse1 : Today at 08:19 AM. Reason: I agree with dh's gas bill exclamation. Lots of times I dont bump it back up to 68 until the kids are almost home.

Back UP to 68. I think we keep it at 76. All day. And night. Holy cow. Cover your tender vegetation. No wonder my bills are so dang high.

Did you mean to say Holy Cowgirl? ha

You are supposed to bump it down at night. It's a scientific fact. Ask Twink. Helps everybody sleep better.

PLUS, a warmer house breeds more germs. Think about that one B. It's a scientific fact. Ask Twink. Helps everybody not be sick.

PLUS, it does save you money. and it helps the evironment. even if you only bump it down a few degrees. It's a scientific fact. Ask Twink. Helps everybody have the warm fuzzies that they are doing their part to stop global warming.

CEL: I RESPONDED TO YOUR NIP/TUCK STUFF.

1. YW. How did you do??

Short list on nongenericable stuff.
1. DIET COKE
2. Miracle Whip
3. Heinz ketchup
gotta keep them priorities.
On the Daisy kiss, film at 11. Ok, just a photo. But haven't had time to even think about it. How wide can Goofy open his mouth?
Marita
When our nighttime temps drop into the 40's we set the heat to 67-69, only when we have a baby in the house.
So always since about the turn of the century? Now we know why you want so many. So you can keep the house warm.
I'm off today(from work kids) and with a large enough shovel, may see the living room rug by nightfall. It's a balmy 3 here. Although expected to reach 21 this afternoon. We're having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave.
I at least found the camera, buried in the dirtyclothes bag. Oops. I hope to start on the trippie within the week. I took notes! Maybe they'll help.
Time to caffeinate. Later Moovers.

The baby sister just called me crying. She wants to come home. I told her to cowgirl up. Ha. She didn't like that.
I don't think I skimmed, but I missed this part. Where is she?

Oh and DS told me that they are going to do an OUTSIDE experiment tomorrow. I had to purchase a two liter soda after DD's piano lesson tonight for said experiment. He is in Chemistry this semester. They are going to drop mentos (the candy) into said soda bottles and see which one shoots up the most. That should make for a lovely frozen mess outside the high school tomorrow. :scared: Once you drop the Mentos into the soda, it shoots straight up out of the bottle, like a volcano. They are going to compare sodas to see if one makes it shoot higher than the other.
I wanna do this! I need to go to the store. Hmm

I just did my own "experiment."
I left an energy drink in my car.
Then decided to open it.
Ooops.
slushie energy drink does NOT like to stay in the can. In case you were wondering.

They cancelled Kitchen Nightmares to show Bush! WTH??? I can read that in the paper tomorrow or read it online. Why do they choose to show this on all channels? :confused3
I actually watched it. I figured since it's the last time, I could deal. He did really well.

sometimes we take a US AIR flight and land in LaGuardia or in the other NY one
I hate landing in New york! too much water right beside the runway!
I know it's safer than hitting the ground, but it freaks me out!

SO, SURVEY:

what temp do you keep your place at?

I'll start: 75 (but then I live in Florida), we keep it there year-round though.

Next!
65 in the winter, 74 in the summer -
but last night I was so cold that I bumped it up to 72 while I watched tv.
My brother got up and turned it down to 60 in the night. :rolleyes2 I had to get out an extra blanket.

Hee hee, I can't wait till the time I normally wake them up so I can fling on their light all panicky and say, "HURRY, you're going to be late for school!!!!" :rotfl2: It's sick, but fun. (whatever, don't feel sorry for them! They soooo deserve it).
:rotfl: You're so evile!
who's George Strait?

The dog food that our doggie is on keeps us away from the vets. So she is on Wellness now and she gets one cup in the morning and one cup at night.
Not only is all that stuff babycow said about george strait true - he's also super hot! :firefight
Where do you buy wellness? Riley is itching something fierce!
Class was good- I have a great set of students. Sounds like a fun bunch! I'm glad it went well.

Hi all!

Wahoooooo! It's finally Friday! :cheer2: :cheer2: I thought this week would NEVAH end! I had to renew my driver's license this morning (new photo and all  ), and I had a hair appointment, so I just got to work about an hour ago. Thankfully, CBM went out shortly after I arrived.

RE: Household temperature settings -- Everyone should have a programmable thermostat! That way, you don't have to keep futzing with the temp....you set it and forget it. Well worth the $40! During the day, our house is set at 62 degrees, since no one is home. My mom keeps hers on 70, but that's cuz she's on blood thinners and is always cold. During the evening, the temp jumps up to 68, and then it drops back down to 62 at around 11pm, since we all sleep better if the house is coolish.

Gotta git myself back to work, I guess. Check ya later! :wave2:

Is Wellness a brand name. Poor granddog is still itching. Maybe it would help him.

It is 7 degrees here and all the Schools are closed.

WTH????????????? Not a single post since 1 pm and its after 9?

Are we in the Twilight Zone and everyone got snatched away?

Or did everyone freeze into popsicles?

Pumba: George Strait is a country music singer. He has like a bazillion number one country music hits. He sings that fireman song I just posted. He has been called King George and King of Country cuz all his songs tend to go way up the charts.

Yeah and he fills out a pair of 32/32 Wranglers quite nicely.
:firefight ::yes::

I know, I had binoculars and checked the tag.:rolleyes1

Yep, Marita, we've turned into popsicles here in the great white north!

Since I had TWO evening meetings this week, I ditched work early and went to see Bride Wars with my BFF and her daughter. Cute movie. Popcorn and chocolate for dinner. What's not to love?!!

I'm so ready for my three day weekend pirate:

Twink - Congrats on makin' it through your syllabus development and first class! :dance3:

W00t, signs of life, Steph and Moo posted.

I'm watching Dateline about yesterdays plane crash in the Hudson. Interesting!

I promised a couple of days ago to make more chicken livers stroganoff again today. Tonight I thought, WHY OH WHY did I promise that????? The last thing I felt like doing.

Hubby ended up cooking without even prompting :flower3:

Made double the recipe (2 pounds) and only have a small portion left. And dishes are done, WOOHOO!

AMEN to 3 day weekend. Although I may work from home on Monday and save a vacation day. As long as I dont have to drive to work I'm good. I a have few deliverables on Wednesday that are non-routine (and not going well) and knitfreak is out all next week to move to a 2-BR with her Fiancee.

I really have to bite the bullet and get nails done tomorrow. It's so dang BORING! But Im way past due.

Please Pray

I'm very emotional - life is really bad. My 2nd born is in the hospital, and I dont know if he can get better - the doctor said its bad. 6 days before my 1st born's wedding -

Ryan is really in need of prayers -

I'm sorry, I'm just really in need of prayers! 2010 Disney -

Oh, Sandy! Sending lots of prayers and hugs :grouphug: You have seen the power of this group working together.

more sense to the ladies...it's very much like the sport of "ice
skating", :rolleyes1 ...or boxing. :scratchin

...all i'm trying to say.....a playoff system..in college...would do
alot more harm..than good. what is needed...improving the schedules,
unfair advantages, and alot more consistency.

..a playoff..would be like..adding a can of peas...in your cake mixes.

:crazy2:

ok..wt..can sit on it, :) ..what we didn't realized..a broken leg
in a cast..would not fit! so guess who had to hold....the one
leg, and then take..care of the baby? is that called mutil-talented.

...* on sunday, we had one major :faint: . sunday= no body around,
and the nurse.."left us." [ me & the dr., and just the mother. ] she was
only...26 weeks....along. but it wasn't the baby..that we almost lost..it
was the mother. what a mess! what saved..her ?...was the position
she was in.., * remember...we let all mothers...hold their newborns?
she sigh..& took her last breath..before..we could even moved.

...& because..we had her "prop up"...she "crashed" her head on the
