In 1981, I had worked at my current job which I have been at for 28+ years for about a year and I celebrated my second wedding anniversary. Next year will be 30 years of marriage :scared:

bbn - Glad you didn't actually kill the thread! :rolleyes1 We all have those moments. We have a TSC store here in my town too :goodvibes

I read a little bit of the thread at work today, but no time to post. I'm still catching up from being away, but at least I finally got through my 200 work e-mails :headache: I put in my request for telecommuting (one day a week) at work today. Hope it gets approved.

Twink - 9 degrees yesterday? Brrrrrr. Did your blood thin out a little bit down in Florida? Mine sure did.

My house is a major wreck and we are having our new TV stand delivered tomorrow afternoon. I hope I have enough energy to declutter a spot for the delivery guys to put it tomorrow morning. Ugh. I'm so ready to be over this cold.

Marita - We had a ton of leftover ham at our holiday work potluck yesterday. Between yesterday afternoon and lunchtime today, my coworkers "ate" over 10 pounds of ham and broke into the frozen ham that was being saved for those people who are working next week :confused3 My theory is that either one of the janitors absconded with it or some of the people who contributed took home care packages last night. I have some very anal coworkers who were ticked off about the whole thing. Whatever! It wasn't even a good spiral ham like Honey Baked.

Marita...you made me snort laugh at your comment to Pumba. That was a good one, my friend!
p.s. I secretly (openly?) enjoy cooking and would just as soon make the pies myself. :snooty:

bbn...you should really look into "The Perfect Pancake" kitchen gadget. It's almost as goog as potato mits. Remember those? Heh. Fun times.

Wendy...glad the concert went so well. :goodvibes

Allie...It went fine. Not stellar like the last one, but nothing went terribly wrong either. Thanks for asking. You're so thoughtful!

Moo
...janitors absconding with pounds and pounds of ham is quite the visual image! Hope you can kick that cold soon!

I had a night of major accomplishments! I feel like I got so much done. It looks like a tornado came through my apartment, but that can be dealt with later, right? :rolleyes1 Most of my co-workers gifts are now done and the kids' gifts are started. I'll finish them tomorrow night. I'm on a roll, so I'm going to go do a few things before bed.

Sweet dreems, all.
:grouphug:

What where you doing in 1981? Those of you that were actually BORN then?

I believe that I was in Jr. High school and be-bopping to tunes from everyone from John Lennon' s "Starting Over" to Olivia Newton-John's "Physical", or something from the Pointer Sisters.

I was probably wearing my GV's or Calvin's with w/ a wide toothed comb in my back pocket, to comb my still-feathered hair. Unless that was the year of my Sheena Easton short-haired perm, in which case, replace the comb with a pick.

And while I was busy going to the skating rink, and the mall. Josh Groban was born. Who knew?

Thank would be cool, Moo. I would love to have a regular day for that, but I am happy to just get one occasionally so far. It would save me 2 hours a day in getting ready and travel time, not to mention gas and tolls.

In Knitfreak news, she is leaving this weekend to spend 9 days with her new fiance. Time to see how living together is going to work. Oh, and she got her hair cut short for him. There was some office discussion today about how living together can reveal a lot of things. So we shall see how that all goes. Originally, she was going to have to leave the apartment during the day while DF was at work, since his room mate wanted nobody there while he was gone, but he changed his mind. Really, how odd would it be to have to roam the town for places to go for 8 or 9 hours a day? But now she is free to stay there. So I am bringing her an article from the paper today about Hanuhcka dishes, since he is Jewish. I figured she might to try some new recipes.

Oh, and he had a phone interview today for a job at Disney. No word yet how that went.

DD got her official German passport today. So she is now officially a dual citizen. She has been wanting this for 2 or 3 years. Just to have it, not that it changes anything for her, really. Just the thing to do! :cool2:

I can't believe how fast these days leading up to Christmas are going!

Peej - I agree that the castle with the icicle lights is spectacular! I really enjoyed seeing the Holiday Wishes fireworks over the castle. I wonder if anyone has youtubed this year's version.

Let me think. What to post. What to post. Another Top 10 List? Hmmm. No, too soon. Another Shout Out post. No, too much chance of disaster due to omission. I could post something smarta**y about WP. Or Rob. And his obsession with girly movies. Now, that might be a possibility. An ADT? Nah, ADTs are so 5 minutes. Ago. A deer post. Eh. A Lil G post? Maybe. How about Lil Miss Sunshine and her happy reign at Sunnybrook? Always sure to draw a smile. How about a post. Nearly impossible to read, correctly. duE to misplaced punctATion or CAPitalizaTion? An oldie but a goldie. Nope, none of the above. I think I will go for posting nonsense (not related to the nonsensical stringing together of the letters A, C and K) simply in order to show off my neeeew car. I mean avatar.

1. Maybe I just see the humor from a different angle than you. Have you ever considered that? Huh? HUH? HAVE YOU???????????
I do fully admit to not understanding WT.

Many try. Few actually accomplish it.

B, I see you finally got in touch with your femine inner self. You have never looked better. W00T even!

And I did it, I ordered it. I couldn't live another moment without a jackhammer loud bedshaking unit!

If I disappear from the net, it will be because DD killed me :rolleyes1

Here's a little game to play. A little sunshine from Sunnybrook, so to speak.

Here is an amazing calculation you can do to determine who is your most
likely Role Model. It really is amazing!!

Try it without looking at the Answer

1) Pick your favorite number from 1-9

2) Multiply that number by 3.

3) Now add 3 to the new number and multiply that number by 3.

4) You'll get a 2 digit or three digit number.

5) Add the two or three digits together (example: if your total was 117
you would add 1 plus 1 plus 7 = 9)

NOW SCROLL DOWN TO SEE WHO YOUR ROLE MODEL IS FROM THE LIST BELOW:

NO PERMS! I mean, yes, I remember that!

I hereby declare Megara as the OFFICIAL MOOVER pet :hippie:

I am almost tempted to get this, but it would probably just roll under the bed anyway...

http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/lights/91f2/

Oh wait, I think I am going to order this:

http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/lights/8f1a/

The sonic BOOM alarm! I know some boys who may need that so their parent can sleep in a smidge.

Ok, Megera can be the official thread mascot. Cliffy will be sad.

BbN- I got YOU. You're mine! Heh. You made me do math prior to proper caffeination. For that, you get an ACK.

Those alarm clocks are not cool. :scared1:

My answer was George Bush. If my number was supposed to be your name, I did it wrong. Twice and with a calculator. ;)

I made another diaper bag yesterday. I am dreading packing for our trip. Packing for large families bites.

I'm pretty sure no one owns enough "going out of the house" winter clothes either.

After reading and rereading it again, I saw my mistake and BabyN is my new role model. lol.

BBN - I always knew you were my role model, now that test confirms it! ;) Yeah for my new sportsfreakrolemodelfriend!

gotta go serve desserts to the High school teachers today, and FORCE my DS to give the very small gifts to his teachers. I embarrassed him yesterday by meeting the bus driver, with his gift, while he was getting off the bus. :rolleyes1 It's not like I walked all the way on the bus. I tried to stay out of site, but he told me, "yeah mom, but you're loud, and I could hear you all the way in the back of the bus!" Oh well, the bus driver appreciated his gift, and plus all the few kids that were on the bus were prolly listening to their ipods instead of the old giftgivinmama. ;) :music: :snooty::lmao:

Busy ,busy , busy.....

Vacation did major damage to my Christmas prep. I still have shopping to do and the kids are out of school tomorrow for the holidays. Still have a ton of wrapping.

I did get 5 types of cookies done yesterday X2 of the recipe. Then Nicholas said Mom can I have some of them for his school party on Friday. So I guess I will be baking more because if I give to one I have to give to the other one. That is over 50 kids, so my cookies will go down fast.

Mommy P-- where are you going?

Marita-- good luck with the alarm clock. Is it suppose to wake the whole house.

Moo-- Love the snow globe picture. Did I tell you we went into Magic Kingdom on Saturday. I wanted to see the castle. I didn't like when it turned yellow/orange though. It was beautiful in blue/white. Hope your feeling better soon.

Babynurse -- of course your my idol. I want to be arcade King...:lmao: But haven't had much time to play lately.

And in 1981 I graduated just like Lexi....But I will not show my grad pic since my mom has the only one hanging on her wall and I hate it because my hair is so short.

Nab - The boys decided that instead of presents this year(since we don't have any money. lol) that they would rather go to Georgia for Christmas. Since gas is so cheap now it's much less for us to go there than buying gifts for 5 kids. lol.

J/K Here is my real cutie. The pattern I made for the fitted diapers is one size, so I have it on mickey to try it as a newborn size. I don't have any newborns around right now, so he was the best I could do. :3dglasses

ha. oh the irony. maybe i'll post a pic of my burn from an iron. that would be appropriate, donthchaknow. ha again.

come to Jesus meetins: when somebody is in BIG trouble and you are highly ticked off you tell them "it's time you and i have a come to Jesus meetin". all the cool kids say it.

follow PJ's lead? BWAHAHAHA. thanks for the laugh twinkie.
1. LOKL.
2. I owe you an apology. After discussion with the DH, I have determined that although I personally was unaware of it "come to Jesus meetin" is indeed a phrase used here in the real Midwest. He defined at as more "fish or cut bait" meaning at such a meeting you press the other person to make a decision. Example "My boss and I are going to have a come to Jesus meetin' today in order for me to get the project done on time."
3. You are welcome.

Here, my friends, is a perfect example of a freakin genius. I'm glad you're starting back to teaching soon so you can pass on this great gift you have been given.

now this post just can not be quoted enough

One of my ancestors wrote the lyrics or the music part to O'Canada......it is my only name to fame......ROFL.
can I have your autograph? :rotfl:

I went to DS10's very first violin concert, *cough*. It was...delightful.
Awww. :cloud9:
Pumba, always good to know how Megara's bathroom visits are going! :rolleyes1

:lmao: :lmao: I think poop stories are a core value around here.

Oh, and in 1981, I was in 8th grade, doing who knows what, heck I can't remember what I did 5 minutes ago, how am I supposed to remember what I did back then? :rotfl2:
hi allie! goog to see you!

Twink - 9 degrees yesterday? Brrrrrr. Did your blood thin out a little bit down in Florida? Mine sure did.

.
Yes. I am having to vacuum every day just to generate some warmth around here.
How did you do the snowglobe picture in photopass? it looked great! I need one.

I believe that I was in Jr. High school and be-bopping to tunes from everyone from John Lennon' s "Starting Over" to Olivia Newton-John's "Physical", or something from the Pointer Sisters.

Hello fellow prairie dweller! Funny post! I loved Olivia Newton-John.... for some reason my parents didn't love me belting out the lyrics. :confused3

The Great Ham Caper of 2008 :lmao:
:lmao: you guys are on a roll. Speaking of which. Where is my roll model?
Let me think. What to post. What to post. BDG
Nice new avatar there. Blue is your color.

I made another diaper bag yesterday. I am dreading packing for our trip. Packing for large families bites.

Pictures of diaper bag, please! As for packing, just take all your laundry in the laundry buckets. Do it in Georgia, wear, wash, rinse, repeat. We don't own alot of clothes. I did laundry 3x during our one week vacation. I always swore I wouldn't do laundry on vacation but I think that is part of having a large(ish) family.

ETA oh you posted pics while I was writing this! Very nice!!! Love the cutie! :rotfl: and Isaac too! I told you you should make diaper bags.

And in 1981 I graduated just like Lexi....But I will not show my grad pic since my mom has the only one hanging on her wall and I hate it because my hair is so short.
Oh Pleeeeeeease?! I love 1981 hair! I had parted down the middle, super short "wings" or "feathers". Very awkward, that.

MommyP- LOVE all the sewing you've been doing! You make me want to have a new baby just so I can make adorable diapers too. :3dglasses

OR, maybe I'll get a puppy. I want a "Bischon Frise" (and name her Maybelline):
Bischonpup.jpg

Awwwwww! I should wait till after school to have a new fur baby. :guilty:

Oh...and, I have your stuff all boxed up and ready and am gonna go to the UPS store to weigh it so I'll let ya know. (ugh, again, I apologize for repeatedly forgetting). The box is as big as a medium sized microwave.

What is the pattern for your diaper bag? I really want to make a black and white bag/purse and haven't quite found just the right pattern. Love yours!
