I started 1981 in the 7th grade and ended 1981 in the 8th grade (so at least my seventh grade year was successful). I spent the summer of 1981 missing Major League Baseball (that year the Royals were defending American League Champions and the MLB players went on strike in June and July) and missing the girl I had a crush on in 7th grade (and 8th grade -- big time -- and somewhat in 9th grade). Back then, if you couldn't drive and she didn't live within "biking distance", you were pretty much limited to the phone only (i.e., no internet).

 Whatever! While certainly not perfect, it wasn't too bad at all actually.

(Even without the internet, we DID have an Atari VCS -- later renamed the Atari 2600. I wouldn't have my first computer until 2 or 3 years later when I bought a TI-99/4A with my own money -- still no internet though.)

Mony! Goog to hear from you :) Hope it warmed up a little down there

Thanks, B! Nice to "see" you (note my appropriate use of quotations). Of course I didn't take that photo, the Photopass guy did. Your trip is coming right up. And I'm still feelin' the Disney love. No hatin' here

He left off one of the photos he took or else it didn't turn out. My DD would only pose that one time and we didn't see all that many Photopass photographers during our trip.

I still haven't had a chance to download my photos to Photobucket. I need to find out from Nab and Twink if it's OK to post our meet photos. I can take them down pretty quickly after posting.

Peej - Welcome back to you. I'm going to try to see the Twilight movie over the holiday weekend now that I'm (finally) reading the book.

Wendy will be happy to hear that, LOL!

Allie! Yay for being off work!!! I had a Sandy sighting on Facebook.

Hi to everyone else. I still have some catching up to do. Maybe I'll have some time to read back this weekend.

I remember Pong are being great fun!

And what was the bug eater game called?

B, I bet you secretly love Enchanted, but would never admit to it. But it's OK, we know you really are a softy! :cloud9:

OH, I just remembered. At last weeks White Elephant exchange, someone got 12 packs of Wheat Thins (medium sized). And someone actually STOLE it for their own use (hubby's lunch as I remember, poor guy)

GOOD MORNING! :santa:

I'm almost finished (online) shopping and I must admit it's soooo much easier than going to the stores....especially for toys. I'm having it all shipped to my office so it looks like Santa's workshop in there.

What where you doing in 1981?
Graduating high school....

The next four years are a blur.

Monica....HI!

MommyP....I have neglected to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Cheerios are fortified and are a good and healthy meal. That's my story and I'm stickin to it.

Moo....So glad to hear you had a goog trip. The Christmas card is fabulous!

BDG??? Was it happy hour at the casino yesterday? Strange post. :lmao:

Wendee.....I'll bet DS would LOVE the Guiness Book of World Records! That's a great idea! Does Riley want a nano? DS asked for one but I'm not sure he'd use it. I always buy DS Axe stuff for Christmas. He calls it "man soap".

Twink, Peej, Lynette, Elisabeth, DTD, Nabbie, et al..........:wave2:

HAVE A GREAT WEDNESDAY!

Love the photo in the SnowGlobe.....that is to cute......

in 1981, our son was 12 and our daughter was 10. seems like yesterday. Time flies so fast....so those with babies and children.......enjoy each day and I say that with a smile on my face. I remember so many FUNNY times too. and times when I could of rung their little necks......Like the day they emptied Cicu Powder all over their bedrooms and themselves.....I being allergic to that stuff had a lot of snuffles for a while....We took the kids camping at Sebago and when they asked where the ocean was.....we sold our trailer and started the going places. Can you imagine kids being 8 or so and we took them to the lakes but not the ocean that is just as close. SOOOOOO they loved it as I do...I think that 1981 was one of the years that hubbies company was on strike........we made out fine as we prepared for this JUST IN CASE....I think this is the reason that I always have enough food in freezer and cupboards to last thru any work related problems or natural disasters like the ice storm of 1998...IF someone in the neighborhood runs out of something ......they know that the pumba's stock most likely has it.....hahaha.
I would of never traded the old days.....we were happy (still am) the kids were not spoiled ....they worked for things they really wanted if it wasnt their birthday or holiday gifts...
How fortunate we were .......bringing tears to my eyes because I am emotional this time of the year...
GOOD DAY TO MY FRIENDS>.

I got waaaay too much for the Breadman's kiddos. I need to take a picture of all the presents under the tree.

I'm not sure what I'm getting for Christmas.

Things that have been "threatened":
(Just to show you the Breadman's sense of humor)
1.power tools
2.1 carat diamond earrings (even though my ears aren't pierced)
3.lingerie from goodwill.
4.a size GG (for Good God!) bra
5.butcher knife earrings

We'll see what happens. :confused3
1.Power Tools are GOOD ;)
2.I'll pierce your ears for ya...sit still! Stop squirming!
3.used lingerie....ew!
4.GG? donations accepted here!
5.ouch

Wendy - Bring on the Sugah Bowl! I didn't even know that Utah had a team. :headache: Oh, and I love my purple Dyson too! :thumbsup2
Yes....bring it!!! <<that's me being sporty and competitive at the same time. Rare.

I'm watching Mary Poppins on ABC Family. I LOVE this movie (Dick Van D. in particular).

I love that show! I must be manly.

Not sure if this will work . . . me and Mari in front of the castle as a snow globe!

Yay! Great pic!

So I was updating my BFF on the Adam Walsh case finally getting closed. (the kid of John Walsh who started America's most wanted). Which happend 1n 1981, 27years ago. Not to get hung up on that case, but our conversations digressed to what we did in 1981.
I had a new house, a 2 year old boy, and was putting Epcot on the books in Capital Assets at Disney.

What where you doing in 1981? Those of you that were actually BORN then?
I was in 8th grade and getting what was the beginning of 5 years of orthodontia.

I'm going to try to see the Twilight movie over the holiday weekend now that I'm (finally) reading the book.

Wendy will be happy to hear that, LOL!
Yes, I am! Geez, you are late for the on that train, Moo! ;)

Not for ME? I love that lamp and want one! Tres classy.

Man soap! :thumbsup2
The Ripley's book is good too...totally gross and boyish.
He does want a nano, but I suspect it's because his brothers want one.
Love that youthful photo of you! Funny about the next four years ;)

I was born in 1981. hehe
YOU suck!
Bamboo diapers? Sounds organic.

a size GG (for Good God!) bra

I like breadmans sense of humor.

1. Let me be the first to say that I TRULY, TRULY enjoy good pictures. They CAN say a 1,000 words. It's true.

2. Ehh BBN, I like the new signature pic. Who are you trying to smooch? Nab?

3. Did I sound Canadian when I said Eh?

1. Ummm, I hate to point this out to ya, but pictures are inanimate objects incapable of speech. Therefore, they cannot say a thousand words. I bet they cant even mutter a single syllable.

2. You figured it out BDG. I was thinking of Nab when that picture was taken. Gosh, now I see why they pay you the big bucks.:sad2:

3. It's almost like I could hear you breaking into a rousing chorus of"O Canada!" as I read that post.

1. I've returned.

2. It's a long story, and, let's face it, it's not interesting. ....

3. I'm getting observed AGAIN tomorrow.

1. yay???

2. you can say that again

3. Could it be b/c you told the kids to go take a shower and report what kind of vibrations they felt???? freak

Welcome back BDG. You truly are. The, master. Of the well punctuated post. I wish you a most Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I know the Tuesday thing was in your edit, but I just wanted to tell you that it is now Wednesday.

Today was my last day of work until 2009! :woohoo: :dance3: :cool1: :cheer2:

I'm watching Mary Poppins on ABC Family. I LOVE this movie (Dick Van D. in particular).

I was gonna say something. But I won't. Cuz this is the disboards. And I respect that.

DD loved this movie. I think I know it by heart.

I saw it. Great picture Moo!:goodvibes

It worked Moo. Nice pic.

Marita? Did you just tell Rob to go fly a kite? Ha.

BDG

*snicker*

I watched too(ain't we the macho men of the thread!) It's not true that I hang around the courtyard at Britain in Epcot just in case Mary comes by. But I do have a great pic of us when she did. And that cm is practically perfect.

Are you a Mary Poppins stalker? lol

I was born in 1981. hehe

I'm more of a Gladiator guy. I guess.

Wheat Thins

Im more of a Braveheart gal. Freeeeeeeeedom.

Heeeeyyyy a top ten list. I laughed. I cried. I ran screaming from the room.

ok, maybe I just laughed. btw, since you are probably not here I was going to say that I laughed at your oldest, bestest bff lives down the street. I wonder if Lyyyynt did too. hee hee

Oh I forgot to say what I was doing in 1981. BTW, I liked your picture Lexi. I thought I quoted it, along with a few others, but what do I know?

In 1981, I was in second grade. Hanging out with my bff. His name was Jimmy. We would climb trees and play in the creek. He tried to kiss me once, but I punched him. He didnt try anymore.

I KILLED THE THREAD!!!

How awesome is that? The mighty bbn stalks her prey and deftly, quickly makes a post and puts it out of its miserable existence.

Maybe I can mount it on the wall.

for someone who doesn't post alot, you certainly mention your lips being numb in a high percentage of posts. I am sure that says something.

Uh. Isn't this a repeat of #9? Maybe you do need a clone. You should have gone with something like "12 goofy hats" or "12 birthday cakes not liberated by cleaning ladies"

I have nothing snarky to say here. Like babynurse, I laughed, I cried. It was better than Cats. You should post. More. Often.
I know the Tuesday thing was in your edit, but I just wanted to tell you that it is now Wednesday.
Twinkie thanks you for this useful post.

1981: Melinda-nice picture! I bet MommyP was cute then too. I missed a week of 1st grade to go to EPCOT. I didn't kiss anyone named Jimmy. Or punch anyone named Jimmy.

Weather: A balmy 14 degrees here. Which is much warmer than yesterday when the high was 9

Whats For Dinner: Nothing. It is Wednesday as the babynurse pointed out. I can't be expected to bend space & time while cooking can I?

The Most Wonderful Day of The Year-not: tomorrow is the last day of school for my darling children....somehow I agreed to spend the day at the first grade festivities  you know the ones where my 3yr old will not get a cupcake or a goodie bag -did you know that here on the prairie the evile goodie bag phenonmenon has spread to class parties?!? I did contribute a non-food item to the Bags OF Crap as a good parent.

uhhhh twink. ummm. welllll. ok, nuthin'. but, how come you dont answer my text???? harumph. you're making me cry.:sad1:

rob: you deserved it. duh
