Well, apparently my dear son went to the wrong airport :rolleyes1

How the the heck did he manage that?:confused3

Anyway, he will come in later. I asked DD who is picking him up, she said she didnt know when.

Family fun never ends...

I may be asleep by the time he gets here....

Mony - Maybe the tickets were for the prime parade spots and everyone else crowded in behind? :confused3 I've never been down there during that time. I sure would have liked to have seen Josh Groban recording, but he's the only one I think I would have hung around for.

Nabbie - I looked into the Mears shuttle which will go to all the local hotels, I think, but with four people, it wouldn't be any cheaper for your family. I decided to just bite the bullet and pay the extra $$ so I know I'll have a decent way back to the airport for Mari and my cousin and I won't need to take her; although, we may go back to the hotel with her to make sure she catches her ride and to say good-bye.

Do you have ME to the airport on the way home since you're staying on-site?

I think he went to the wrong airport in San Antonio. Don't know the whole story yet. It was on his way out of there.

Well, that was unfortunate for your son, Marita!

Hopefully he'll get things sorted out and you'll see him soon (tomorrow is right around the corner) :)

I think that was pretty stupid of my son, actually. But I don't know details yet, so I should really reserve judgement. He is a pretty smart guy. IF DD stays up to pick him up. I asked her what his new arrival time was, she said she didn't know. Great!!!!!!!!!!

Else he can alway take a cab. It's only 10 minutes from the airport. Let me tell you, cabbies hate that. Sitting in line for hours for a 10 minute fare, they hate you! I feel guilty as Helk! Trust me, we heard all about that a few years ago. How the poor guy waited for hours and we only gave him a 10 minute fare!
I assume DS still has a house key??? Or else he has to pound on windows and doors. I sure won't hear it. But I bet Hubby would. If he is still home by then.
But yes, hopefully when I wake up tomorrow, he will be here.

PLUS, I have tomorrow off!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY

I Googled and it looks like there are several airports in the area, so I can see how it might be confuzzling. I've heard of more than one person flying into Sanford by mistake thinking it was MCO (one was a coworker of mine). Doh!

At least your son didn't get on the wrong plane like my friend's buddy (pre-9/11, I believe) and end up in the wrong city! Hard to believe that could happen these days.

My hubby tried to get an earlier flight back from DC last Friday and was boarding the plane on standby, but apparently the person showed up just under the wire so he had to go back to the terminal and wait until his scheduled flight.

DD just informed me that DS is in town now visiting with his BFF. And to leave the patio door unlocked. Why does he not have a key to the front door anymore???? Anyway, he made it to town, but I may not make it to see him tonight. Stupid work wears me out sometimes. (or more than sometimes)

Good Morning!

Marita-I know you are so excited to get to see DS.

Moo-   single digits:banana:

Bloodhound- Happy Anniversary!

NAB- how is pACKing? I haven't done anything but make some piles. I am not sure when I am going to have time. And I have a question: how do you know when to decorate for Christmas since Canadian thanksgiving is before halloween?????

Mony- :faint: but my MIL has had cortisone shots for years and says they do wonders!

Lexy- Thinking of you this Thanksgiving. Thanks for being my friend.

RobIn and Java- What is up with the weather here? I know the whole line about "don't like the weather, wait a minute" but the cold snaps interspersed with Indian summer seems especially strange this year

Does anyone else think it is odd that we haven't heard from BBN, MommyP and Utahmama since they went to see Twilight?????? I hope they are not recent converts to the undead.

Also MIA are DTD and my favorite parking lot attendent, WT-- Happy Thanksgiving friends.

Our turkey is thawed and brined and awaiting our turn in the neighbor's smoker.

:scared1: Banish the thought!!!!!!! LOL!

Congrats on having the turkey ready. I for one am thankful not to have to cook tomorrow (My time will come at Christmas)

Good morning, any Moovers still around.
DS is home safe and sound, YAY! Apparently he left his housekey on another chain at home. It's great to have him home

1. You mean in the jungle, Bindi? ;)

2. Yeah, somewhat. It has definitely been topsy-turvy this Fall. On the other hand, I can't even remember the last cold Thanksgiving we've had here although I remember Thanksgivings in my youth where we had snow and sometimes lots of it. I distinctly remember one Thanksgiving where my uncle and us (then) kids went tobogganing at a park near my Grandmother's home in the city's East side.

I also remember my mother having ME drive Thanksgiving 1984 because she didn't want to drive in the snow (my Dad was a police officer so he was working that Thanksgiving Day) but I had just gotten my license earlier that same month (course I had been driving on a permit for a while). Funny that she would prefer a new teenage driver over herself.

I had a very productive morning Christmas shopping. The one and only thing on Nicholas's list was the Guitar Hero World Tour bundle. Very hard to find but was in the right place at the right time this morning.:woohoo: And so much on sale already it is unbelievable. Good deals to be had.

Twinkie-- some people put trees and stuff up just after Halloween. I swear some people down the street must have been decorating their tree Halloween night because it was light the next day in the window. I have my stuff up a month before Christmas that is it.

I only have piles everywhere too!

Marita-- Glad you son made it home save and sound. Did you sleep in this morning?

Moo-- you will be happy with Tiffany. Your right a town car is the way to go for a family of four over Disney transfers at $70.00/per to and from the port. Yes we are doing ME on the way back since we are at the resort.

NAB, YAY for shopping MOJO :woohoo:

I just took my shoes in to be re-heeled. $8.99!! Anyone else think that's expensive, or is it just me? :confused3 Of course I ordered new shoes to take their place during the re-heeling process, turns out I could have saved the money, they will be ready on Friday. But I like the new shoes, so I guess it's OK. Plus I will wear them tomorrow, I think. And the old ones are starting to show their age.

DS said he got out of 2 speeding tickets due to his AF status. Guess it's good for something, LOL! Besides a steady job with good money and no rent to pay while not actually doing any work yet. Training doesnt start till January.

Officer: Where did you come from and where are you going?
DS: We are coming back from camping, going back to Randolph Air Force Base, Sir.
Officer: You are in the AF? I was in the service too.
OK, take it slower in the future
DS: Yes, Sir!

DD is making Pumpking Gooey cake as we speak, and by coincident, that was talked about on Mrs. The King's trip report too. I am not a fan of pumpkin pie, but even I like it. It's from Paula Dean:

Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cakes

Prep Time:30 minInactive Prep Time: hr minCook Time:50 min Level:Easy Serves:6 to 8 servings
pa1a01_cake1_med.jpg

Cake:
1 (18 1/4-ounce) package yellow cake mix
1 egg
8 tablespoons butter, melted
Filling:
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (15-ounce) can pumpkin
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 tablespoons butter, melted
1 (16-ounce) box powdered sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine the cake mix, egg, and butter and mix well with an electric mixer. Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13 by 9-inch baking pan.
To make the filling: In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and pumpkin until smooth. Add the eggs, vanilla, and butter, and beat together. Next, add the powdered sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and mix well. Spread pumpkin mixture over cake batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Make sure not to overbake as the center should be a little gooey.
Serve with fresh whipped cream.
Variations: For a Pineapple Gooey Cake: Instead of the pumpkin, add a drained 20-ounce can of crushed pineapple to the cream cheese filling. Proceed as directed above.
For a Banana Gooey Cake: Prepare cream cheese filling as directed, beating in 2 ripe bananas instead of the pumpkin. Proceed as directed above.
For a Peanut Butter Gooey Cake: Use a chocolate cake mix. Add 1 cup creamy peanut butter to the cream cheese filling instead of the pumpkin. Proceed as directed above.

[QUOTE ZZUB] I'm glad you're enjoying some grapefruit love. But I have made a new cake discovery. Also at Costco. It's a cinammon butter coffee cake. It was so good that I had to get on a plane, fly to Mississippi and slap LaLa's mamma. Mrs. Z who doesn't LOVE cake like I do even declared it was good. So there you go. Happy Thanksgiving from the ZZUBs.

ps..you gals..are making me..drool...are you saving me some "gravy"?

Hey not only is it Nebo's birthday, but it's my oldest as well.

Today he turned 12.

I jumped on his bed and had a tickle fight.

Not fair that I caught him off guard and had him pinned just how I wanted him.

Luck was on his side and Mal joined in and I had to tone it down a bit.

He is getting money and presents all day long as his sister and grandma stopped by for different reasons other than that it's his birthday and the guilt was sooooooo huge they emptied their wallets into his disney fund.

Really? Grandmothers forgetting birthdays? They live for that sh%$?

(bonus points for what movie that was taken from)

So, pies are in the oven for tomorrow and I need to leave here and get my butt to the store. I "forgot" to do it yesterday while I was trying to beat BBN's high scores.:rolleyes1

Plus I have class tonight. I really wish I could ditch.

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

Mony-- Babynurse loves when you beat her high scores so she can turn around and beat you again. I think she hold back and then lets you have it. Your not doing to bad in the arcade yourself. Careful it is very addicting.

Marita-- Your son got two speeding tickets since he has been home? Can't say I don't speed but because I just haven't been caught yet.

That cake sounds really good I will have to copy it so I don't lose it.

It is swimming night, the last one of this session :woohoo: We have get to see all the snow they are calling for. Hopefully it will hold off until I get home later.

Lil'g-- I remember some of your hints from last time. I will try to stay out of trouble though unlike someone we know.:rolleyes1

Safe travels for all that will be traveling this Thanksgiving!!

Monica- Your 12 year old is gonna be bigger'n'you very soon and you won't even have the element of surprise in your tickle fights anymore. LOL...That was a hard day for me when DS19(Jordan) and I were wrestling one day a few years ago when BOTH of us realized he's WAYYYYY stronger than me! All I have now is my fierce stink-eye and my cracking wit.
Anyways, Happy Giving Birth Day! Must've been one GREAT T-day 12 years ago!!!

And....it's from Sixteen Candles!!!! :3dglasses What do I win????

I'm pre-baking lots too so I just have to re-heat stuff. The exception being mashed potatoes...which I make on the spot.

I'm making a "diet" pumpkin pie I'm not too thrilled about. It's just going to taste wrong and I'll feel all sorry for myself :sad2:

I guess it's nap time for ME since the daycare buddies are sleeping and I sent my family on a bunch of errands- or should I say I delegated the last minute forgotten items like crackers, creamed corn (for Melinda's casserole that I've had to do 3 years in a row!!!!), cat food (NOT for us, LOL!), a specific centerpiece, and a Rx for the Ambien sleep aid I seem to be out of.
