Work has been offensively busy this year. I'm highly stressed and it doesn't look like it will be getting any better. I expect us to go to a mandatory six-day work week (with no extra pay, of course -- the joy of being salaried), starting in a week or two and running for about seven weeks.

However, to make up for the extra work with no extra pay, the company also announced no raises this year and we all have the last week of the year off -- our choice if we want to use four vacation days or if we want to take four days off without pay to cover that time off.

Oh well, at least I have a job for them to jerk me around in. That's more than a lot of folks have right now.

I hear you on that. I totally expect no pay raise this year, and a layoff/voluntary separation plan is surely in the works. Nothing official on that, but judging from experience. Been there/done that, but at my age, its getting more scary.
