One of the things that I do remember him promising to change was the war in Iraq. Now that he has the authority to do so it will be interesting to see how quickly the troops come home.

::yes::

Also, I'm more than a little concerned about Obama's proposed plan to put a "mandatory volunteer" program in place for children starting in junior high and running right through college. Mandatory volunteerism? :confused3 Is that like jumbo shrimp? And do I really want MY children being told when/where/how they should "volunteer" their time? :scared:

Let's see....I guess I was 15 when he got inaugurated. So I was a freshman in high school. And I have no memory of the event. Then again, I don't have memories of a lot of events that took place in high school. Heh.

Huh. I didn't know that you were older than me.

This commentator on MSNBC is wearing a PINK tie.

Why would any guy voluntarily wear a pink tie?

B, LilG, DTD, BH, Robin, Joe,anyone??????? :confused3

I'd love to stay home tomorrow for the festivities. Or for any reason, really. But alas, it is not to be....

Possible reasons:

1. He was dressed by the Queer Eye guys.

2. He's in touch with his inner pimp.

3. His mommy bought it for him.

Anyone else?

On second thought, maybe we'll save that for the morning. You'll need to be good and awake to sit through that inauguration. Heh.

Harumph. I hope your class pulls a full-on Beyonce on you during your Obama-fest.

Thanks for the prayers everyone.

Sandy, I know what it is like to watch your "heart" lying on a hospital bed and be powerless to do anything.

Hope everything turns out well. Sounds like your other son is channeling his inner Bridezilla atm.

We already have that here Lynette. It starts in high school and the kids can not graduate unless they have all their hours in. It isn't as bad as it sounds. The kids can do a lot of things. From babysitting for free , helping with Sunday school, helping the seniors, working with the food banks or other charities. I think they only need 40 hours over the course of the 4 years.

Last edited by NAB : Today at 10:57 PM. Reason: It's not even our President and there are bus loads of people going tomorrow from Canada.

Nab, Im sure it would be really exciiting to be there, in the freezing cold with 1 porta potty per 400 people that need emptying after 150 uses.

Part of history and all that. but I think I'll stay home. Tivo, dont fail me now!!!!!

But really, I am sure it will be exciting for the people there. Stinky maybe, but exciting.

Thanks for the popcorn, Sandy! :thumbsup2

More :grouphug: andpixiedust: for your family. Just try to make the wedding a happy day for all. It's one day, then you can go back to whatever else is pressing. Just keep this one day happy and peaceful for your family

Amen!! and I've said that outloud, one day wedding - marriaga = restofyourlives!!

Thanks for the prayers everyone.

Thanks!! That so descrives our first night. At 1pm thurs his gf called, at 4pm we were on the road - hospital "we cannot confirm or deny he is hear.." um if there is a Ryan, could he take a call? omg - HIPPA laws to protect... or block parents! I know I know... Finally after 4 hours of traffic we get to hospital, and I want to hug him.. one hour later, he curls up on the smallest "gurney" EVER... and falls asleep... that is your heart lying on a hospital bed.. and all I could say??? Thank you God!!.. Ryan is ALIVE!!

so many challenges in the days ahead - - but its all good!! He is ALIVE!! Praise God, he is aliv! Just so many things that could have led to Ryan's death...

Oh Sandy thank God. As always I will still pray for you.

Good Morning!

Just wanted to put out there I am 3 days away from my mom's only weekend. 1st ever with 2 other BFF's.

We are going to go up north to the cottage. We are 30 mins away from an outlet shopping center. We are 45 mins away from 2 Casinos.

There are even some sledding hills nearby. One can never tell what might inspire us.:)

The lake is frozen, but that kinda freaks me out.

Wishing you all a wonderful day. I'm sure I'll be watching the ceremonies, but most likely it will just be on in the background.

Java: I pray for your strength today.

Tim heads there tomorrow....hmmmmmm. J/K
Tell him to come meet me and Celmama for dinner!

hi friends-
well the girls did indeed get the plague.... followed by me and the DH. This weekend seems like it is a million years long.
:grouphug: I was thinking about you this morning and wondering if the bug got you.

Hi to the rest of you.

Well, good SNOWY morning...SNOW...here in NC....

They are calling for our area to get 4-6 inches, possibly 6-9. DH went to work this am....when he left, nothing, got to the base, nothing.

I called him and told him the roads were covered up here....apparently the snow line cut the county in half.

Kiddos were already out of school for a teacher work day, DH is home now, and my work is closed...

WOOHOO....

I'll take some pics and post them later...

morning.
sixteen 16 .....those many inches of snow .....it was alot of that dreaded white stuff and you all know how MUCH I love it.....hahaha

we went north yesterday ......snow piles and all.....it was a beautiful trip thru the mts of Maine and up towards Carabassic Valley......just a gorgeous trip...we went slow....like 40 miles an hour all the way there..... We got to the property and the realtor that lists this place didnt go and plow......so remember that I told you this area had 43 inches of snow last week during the other snowstorm that hit our area.......so no plowing out and we walked well tried to walk thru a snow bankings that the plows pushed the snow up.....and then walked thru the yard to get to the door.......fell a few times backwards on my butt.....not far to sit down for sure...cause of all the snow drifts. WE got inside and it wasnt terrible horrible......just a little horrible. we had been informed by a person that was snowblowing across the road that the roof leaks and is in need of another roof and the furnace was not maintained.....OY OY OY.......so hubby and the realtor go downstairs and I stay up....not really really bad ...just sort of bad...so I am looking thru the drawers in the kitchen and they were nice and then WHAMMO....I see these little bitty intsy bintsy black items.......yup....mouse poopies....YUCK...well those would of been the first items to go.....no mouse in my house...except of course MICKEY..

we have alot of thinking on that property to do....if it was just fixing up stuff one thing but roofs and furances ..NOPE.

SOOOOO we will keep looking....not like we need one this moment ... we would like one before May.....so we could do needed work .....like paint and floors ....

SOOOOO hope you are all ready for the week .....Have a good one

Sandy - Keep hanging in there and stay strong! You CAN get through this week!!! pixiedust:

Steph - I hope you're holding up OK too :grouphug:

Pumba - Sorry that this latest camp was also a bust :(

Bethipooh - My DD also lives in NC. I saw on her Facebook page that she was let out of work early (10:30ish) due to the snow and was going to be able to go home and watch the inaugural activities. She was pretty happy about that.

I went into our concession stand and watched the swearing in portion of the inauguration during lunch. I thought it was pretty moving. The lunch crowd gave a cheer to see that Michigan was represented during the ceremony by Aretha. I figured I'd better try to watch a bit here at work because my hubby, Bush fan that he is, will be grumpy about having the news coverage on at home tonight.

I hope Sandy and Java are doing ok.

Sorry about your beurky weekend Twink.

Marita: never trust a man in a PINK tie, eh? lol

:wave2: everybody.

I went out today. as in out and about b/c I felt like it and nobody better get in my way, cuz ya never know what a bbn might do.

I ran into one of the dads of a little girl in Red's class. He asked why I wasnt home watching the inauguration. My reply might have been something like "I didnt know it was a requirement that we all bow down to the Obama throne." A guy walking by gave me a very dirty look.

Harumph to him. Can I get a wagon, Lynt? heh

I like this smiley: :offtopic: I havent seen him in a long time.

That should be MY smiley as I tend to ramble in and out of topics on a daily basis.
