Evening, all! I have had a relaxing day mostly at home reading. I did manage to get out to our local cider mill to pick up a fresh batch of apples, cider, and donuts. I got some Northern Spy apples this time. It's been chilly and very windy. The trees around here have shed a lot of leaves this weekend. There sure hasn't been very good weather for color touring.

Twink - Sending some prayers for your grandpa and your family :grouphug:

Wow, Lil G - Good thing you knew what to watch out for with that OD guy :scared:

Cute, Mony!!! One shoe?! Your view is gorgeous!

MommyP - Great pics. I love seeing the water birds down there. My hubby said he saw hundreds of Sandhill Cranes in the fields yesterday while out driving around with his dad.

Marita - Sounds like your sleep schedule is still messed up!

I this right? Not a single post this morning? I am wondering if I am stuck again like I was in Germany....

Marita - That is very strange. I hope Luther's okay.

I've been busy doing school and sewing a nursing cover for a friend. Her baby shower is on Saturday.

I've also started on a wool diaper cover for Isaac. I bought a couple of wool sweaters at the thrift store that I am recycling.

MommyP, thanks for posting. I was starting to feel like I am the twilight zone....

I called in sick today, so I am home. And had 3 calls from work so far. What part of "I am out sick today" don't they understand? :confused3

I need to crank up my energy to vacuum up the (clean) cat litter I spilled last night, before DH gets home (soon).

Where the heck is everyone?

I'm around and I've been reading, but things were busy this weekend so I didn't have time to reply.

More kudos to you parents out there.
How in the world do you concentrate on a sermon while making sure all your kiddos are not disturbing those around you?
Maybe I'm just too anxious? :confused3

Me and Bill took the kids to my grandmother's church yesterday for friends and family day.
My dad sat behind us and said the kids were great - especially since they don't go to church often.
But I felt on pins and needles the whole time.
Partly because I was bored out of my mind (sorry cel mama - but church of christ is just NOT my style!), but partly because I wanted to keep Camden and Hayden occupied so they would be good.

Did you know that cat litter hates to be vacuumed? It splatters every which way

Are you trying to vacuum it with the carpet brush spinning?

Celery - Our kids are in church with us from really young and Isaac we decided wouldn't go in the nursery at all. We train them at home with family bible reading to sit still and if they disobey in church they know that there is a paddle in the Paster's office with their name on it. ;o)

Isaac made it all the way through about an hour of a hour and a half service this week, thanks to nursing in the sling and cheerios.

I agree my kids went to Church at 2 weeks and if the go all the time they know how to behave. Celerystalker is a good caregiver and I think she is a little like her mother in wanting the children to be good out in public. They are very wellbehaved children as well as being sweet. Celery you do a great job with them. Your celery mama

Marita-- nice to see you in the day time. Yes I would use the hose. Rocks , which really littler is shoot everywhere. :lmao:

Celery-- I am like Mommy P. My kids started at a young age so knew how to behave. Our church also has a Sunday school class running the first part of mass for kids under 8 and they come back up after the readings and sermon. I did not let them play in church either so they didn't disturb anyone running cars up and down the pew making car noises because this also doesn't teach them to just sit still during mass.

Kids are off today so we were out shopping at Walmart. Got Hannah orange and black stripe tights to go with Hannah's Halloween costume. She has to dress up tonight for Brownies. She is going to be a witch. She can also were the tights for orange and black day on Friday.

Got Nicholas suit pants hemmed too. Not a great sewer and it cost me $4.99. Thought that was a great deal.

Also had to go to the church and pick up the teddy bear Hannah won on Saturday. I'm tired now.

I miss Lexi's morning post too!

What a sweet post, Cel-mama!

And your avatar is right where it should be, no worries!

The recycled wool sweater into a diaper cover was a pain in my @$$. Oh my goodness. No wonder people charge so much for them when there is only a couple dollars of material in it. The sweater starts to unravel as soon as you make the first cut. What a mess.

I also made him another pair of fleece pants for sleeping in. They go on right over the diaper. Jammies and diaper cover all rolled into one. They are super cute. I didn't add the inner cover to them this time. So it's 1 layer of fleece instead of 2. We'll see how it works.

I love Calvin and Hobbes! It was the only cartoon I ever read in the funny section. It was so deep. Very powerful.

Wendy-Cherry coke makes an excellent chicken marinade. Just sayin.
Also I want a copy of the Lil-G-a-day inspirational sayings calendar.

My dad's test results came back normal so that is great. One less thing to worry about. My grandpa however is not doing well at all. He fainted today.... we think it is diabetes related but they think it might be another stroke. The one remotely pollyannaish thing about that is now all the family, drs and other medical professionals are on the same page about what should be done next.
It does! So does Dr. Pepper.
I KNOW! I think it's a great idea! Once the page is turned, the wizzum is lost (a little).
Prayers for G-pa :flower3:

See??? It's truly awesome!

Twinks thats good news about your dad. Still hoping for a better turn-around for grandpa.

I am not ready to see my gray hair. I know that they are there, just have no desire to see them on me. Don't think I ever will.

I was in a "I NEED MY HAIR COLORED NOW" mood on Friday, so while the little ones were napping I frosted my own hair. Saved lots of money, but don't tell my friend Cathy. (she does my hair)

I have the prettiest view out my french door windows of my kitchen.

Sept-Oct2008pics040.jpg

There's a mini forest behind us and it's just a palet of color right now. Can't the leaves just stay on the trees and fall off in the spring right before the new ones start growing? Just a suggestion.

And for your viewing pleasure, Madelyn walking: And she prefers to wear only one shoe.

Cute little Madelyn!!
Purdy trees. I love the colors! Autumn is over with so fast!

My accomplishment for the day was vacuuming:woohoo: Although I did dishes at 2:30 am last night :rolleyes1 I need to fit in a shower yet, and probably should do some laundry.

Did I mention I finally cleaned out the last of my suitcase at 2am yesterday?:yay:
Are you on a cleaning frenzy again Mareeta?
You don't fit in the shower, you teeny thing? ;)

Marita I did manage to do a few loads of wash, clean the basement for Thursday's Day Care Halloween party and made dinner.
Madelyn if forcing me to give her a bath.

I took the weekend off of doing anything school related so now I have a ton of homework to do.
Awww, she's Miss Thang!
Get to doin' your homework!

Wendy - Friday is our churches annual chili supper. My chili is different every time because I don't have a recipe and I never think to write down what I've put in it. lol. Would you be willing to share your recipe with me?
You DOO look nudie there, brave tube top lady!

Ok, there isn't a real recipe, per say, and I make it different every time, but here's what you throw into the pot or crock pot. The end result needs to be VERY thick with not too much liquid:

2-4 pounds lean ground beef (or turkey) browned and rinse the fat off.

3 colors of beans: red kidney, black, and white. I do the dry beans which are cooked according to the package. You wont be able to use the whole 1 pound bag each, though. OR use canned beans...whatever you like

diced or chopped onion- one big one.

garlic paste or minced garlic (or even garlic powder)

canned diced tomatoes (or from your garden or grocery) with the water

tomato sauce, big cans

4 packs of mild chili mix OR chili powder to taste

different colored bell peppers, chopped. This time I used green and yellow.

Other veggies I used, corn, celery, carrots. I've often added zucchini or yellow squash or mushrooms for a more veggie based chili (with turkey or no meat).

Stir in water little by little to have it still thickish.

That's it! Super easy and it fills a HUGE crock pot if you do one pound each of the dry beans re-hydrated (it's too many beans, actually.

I serve with either corn bread, Fritos, or a bread bowl with a sprinkle of cheese or maybe sour cream and diced green onions.

I'm around and I've been reading, but things were busy this weekend so I didn't have time to reply.

I haven't heard a sermon in years... :confused3 Bring creative snacks and spend tons of time in the foyer.

Miss Lexi too. She'll be back. :grouphug: (Love ya Melinda!!!)

Have you tried that iron in hem tape? It works pretty well and holds up to MANY washings. I hate to hem stuff.

Hugs and prayers to those needing either or both ... (I can use the same :flower3: )

My babies haven't crawled in 20+ years, LOL.

Which I guess is a good thing, as that includes no drunk crawling either :worship:

Great recipe, Wendy!!!!!

Use this and that or the other thing or whatever! Yummy!

I still have the crock pot from the dearly departed (from her life) BF of my daughter. I should try somethiing...........

Oh, I finally got an answer out of DD why he broke up with her. 2 Hours away and first year of law school. Or so he said anyway.

And my son didnt pass the finals in the Navigator school. Something about lack of spacial relationship sense.. He passed all his academics. So he is back in San Antonio, trying to figure out what is next. Still an officer, but not flying. It's killing me.
