Hmmm, Marita...was it fudge-y in consistency or more of a torrone type candy? Now you have me wanting to cook up something elaborate for a snack. Bad, bad Marita! :rotfl:

definitely fudgy! Soft, chocolatety (well, nougat, not the same), the best thing you ever had in your life!
I doubt even MK Bakery could come close, but it's worth a shot.

Depressing thougt of the day:

I am watching "Sound of Music" on TV. I distinctly remember the movie poster back in 1965 or so(back in Germany, the movie was called "Die Familie Von Trapp")
It was of the wedding scene with Maria in her wedding gown going up to the alter.

How the heck did 40+ years go by??????????

Sounds delish! I guess I'm going to have to forage in the cabinet for something now. *sigh*

Hi...my wife always used salt to set the dye...but that may have been an old wifes tell from her mom but IDK

I added salt, it was part of the directions. :confused3

Twinkie - Looks good. I'm glad you like it.

Twinkie! How cute are you wearing that handsome boy! Love that blue! MommyP...you really did an awesome job!!!!!

Just think of all the money you're saving by using cloth! :cool1: Captain Planet thanks you too!!!!:thumbsup2

I'm busy re-learning MATH :scared: Ugh. I need to take a placement test for the spring semester at the local junior college and REALLY don't want to be placed in "dumb-bell math". I purchased a SUPER cool program at the Costco called "Math Success Deluxe 2009" geared to ages 9+ (grades 4-12 so my kids will/can use it too). Crap, other than quadrupling recipes and badly mucking up my checkbook, I haven't really used math-math in, well, decades :cool2:. But, and get this, it's sort of coming back to me...YAY! I guess it all was originally learned in the window of time I like to call "long term memories" and not the category of more recent time I mostly instantly forget :rolleyes1

I'm not too freaked about the English/grammar/reading part of the test. When I WANT to, I can do the English thingy fine/finely.

Wendy, pm me. I tried to, but I cant for some reason!

As for math, remember the brackets, they are the most important thing. Without them, it really messes things up!

Oh. great, it just started POURING here again! Like in buckets!

Thanks everybody!

I have to agree that my Little Guy is especially attractive :lovestruc and the sling is to-die-for.

Wendee- Good job for studying for the test! You want to place as high as you can-trust me. I would go to the LIBRARY and check out a PSAT or SAT (or ACT or whatever the college kidz take out in goatland) book. Read it and do the math sections. It doesn't need to be current. Some even have Cd-roms in the back. I am old so I score better on paper&pencil tests but you need to prepare for whatever you are going to get. Don't worry about the critical thinking, essay or vocab sections. Math stays the remarkably the same from test to test. Those books are usually pretty well written and have solved examples to "teach" you how do it. Yay for you

ok MOO- you got me addicted to scrabble blast but I keep getting timed out and it doesn't record my score:mad: not that they are anywhere close to yours but I have lost two scores higher than the one I have

You and Grasshopper are beautimous, Twink!!! Thanks for posting!

If you'll notice the time, you'll see that I couldn't stop playing ScrabbleBlast because I was doing well and I didn't want to risk my score not showing up if I took a break! Dang game ;) Of course, it's the only one I can play half way decent, unlike a certain bbn who is a mega-champion

Very nice job, MommyP :thumbsup2

Lynette - I broke down and had some popcorn earlier tonight. Hubby gets the movie theater butter kind, so I don't eat it all that often.

Marita - That's interesting to hear the German name for Sound of Music. I still watch the Princess Diaries when it comes on to see Julie Andrews. It's one of those movies that I have to watch if I see it while flipping through. Kind of like Pretty Woman.

GOOD MORNING!

Got my hair cut kindly short yesterday. Cleaned my house a bit and ready for church and chillaxing today.

It's the big day here in Lexington. UK vs. UofL. GO CATS! :cheer2:

Sounds like some folks were lucky enough to score tickets. We are going over to our friends' house to watch it with snacks, drinks, etc.

NEWS: I am now secretly planning a possible Mimi/Mom trip in January. When do the good codes come out? I will have to do it on the cheap. But I think Mimi would be thrilled to have that as a Christmas present. She doesn't start back to school til the 14th.

Twinkie....Your sling is beautiful! As are you and Grasshopper. He looks like he's striking a super model pose.

MommyP.....Love the Twinkie sling! Your sewing skillz are amazing!

Moo! Get some sleep, woman!

Wendee! MATH!?!? What are you going to college to study? I thought you were thinking asthetics? At any rate, good for you!

Marita...OK. Touche. You win on the LeCellier thing and free dining. I forgot. BTW how's the weather there in January??? First week maybe?

Hound....Great score on the face-value tickets! Have fun! REMEMBER: Go Cats!

DTD....Goog to see you, mister! Are you going to the UK vs. WKU game?

Lynette, Monica, BNCG, WT (I know you're reading), and everyone!.......:wave2:

HAVE A BLESSED SUNDAY!

“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if you hear his voice,”
- Psalm 95:6-7

Good morning everyone!
I'm at the Homewood suites in Nashvegas with the breadman, his kids Hayden and Camden and the Riley pup!
woo!

I had to pay 100 bucks to bring riley.
The kids were amazed.
They keep seeing other dogs here and saying "They had to pay 100 dollars too!"
The sad thing is if I was dishonest, I could've gotten away with not paying - the front desk is far away from the elevators.

Yesterday we went to the library (which is right across the street), walked around downtown, talked to homeless people :scared: , tried to eat at several different restaurants but ended up at Hard Rock Cafe.
Then me and the kids hit the hot tub.
Woo!

Today I had to go to church for a bit to handle some church bidness, then I had to do homework. Now me and the kids are making cards that I bought at target - they're cute animal shapes and they were only a dollar.
A few minutes ago Hayden and Camden performed a super cool puppet show. Hayden was inspired by the puppets at the library yesterday and Target had cute puppets in the dollar section.
I'm addicted to the dollar section of target!
I also got some books for Camden to practice addition and spelling and some hello kitty notepads for me and Hayden.

After breadman finishes his nap  , we're going to the adventure science center then to rainforest cafe!

These are from Camden and Hayden:
:dance3: :yay: :worship: :eeyore: ::MickeyMo :smickey: :butterfly :dogdance:

Marita...OK. Touche. You win on the LeCellier thing and free dining. I forgot. BTW how's the weather there in January??? First week maybe?

There is no telling, Melinda. It could be 70's with clear blue skies, or it could be freezing cold. Or you get both in the same week.

Celery, sounds like you are haviing a fun trip!

I was laughing at the snack comments. My list on snack requirements was a lot shorter. I liked the "nothing that requires a spoon." My kids go to lunch at 11:10 and don't get out until 3:45, so I think a snack is definitely in order.

Let's see, what have I been up to....
I'm currently in Cincinnati, which is why I have computer access. Marita's check never came. Marita, are you sure you sent it to the right address??? On Friday night I got to see Taylor Swift!!!!!!!!! As if that wasn't good enough, Rascal Flatts were there too. AMAZING. Seriously, such a good concert! When I grow up, I want to be Taylor Swift.

I have many a teaching story, but this may have been my favorite one from this week. Friday morning this little boy walks into my room. He walks right up to me and says, "hi, I'm _____, and I'm in your class now." I think I stared at him so long he was thinking of retreating back into the hallway. Long story short, they gave me another kid without even telling me, and just sent him on up to my room!! So, now I have 28 kids. Oy. I'm thinking there could have been a better way of handling the situation. I think a phone call letting me know I was getting another student may have been in order!! HA-RUMPH!!!

Other than that, it's just been the usual adventures with me. The little freaks got me sick for the first time last week....pink eye. That was fun. I get paid on Friday and I am thinking at that point a laptop will be in my budget. Keep your fingers crossed!!

Hope everyone is enjoying the 3 day weekend!!
:grouphug:

I just got up from a little nap I like to call losing consciousness. I asked Chad to grate up my soap for my laundry detergent. He grated his finger within like a second. So I thought I'd give it a try. I've grated things a million times without a mishap. Chad hadn't even gotten the words,"Be careful don't grate your fing..." and I did. I got my thumb really bad. Through my nail(my nonexistent chewed up stub nail). Here's a little something you didn't know about me. I can have a baby without pain meds, but a little pain and blood from a minor home mishap and I'm all seeing stars and then, nothing. I immediately went to sit on the couch and leaned over with my head down. I was struggling, but fighting it. Then I lost the fight. I thought I'd be okay to lean back on the couch. But the next thing I knew Chad was trying to wake me up. lol. Even after that I still had to fight going again. I feel better now. Chad's napping and my soap is sitting ungrated on the counter. This isn't the first time I've passed out after getting hurt. I'm scared it will happen when Chad's not here. I need to put my Mom's number on the fridge for the boys. Otherwise I'll be waking up to the paramedics. lol

BabyN - What causes that?

Hi Peej!

Good to see you! 28 kids is alot- I hope you have a helper or four.

I got in trouble at "back to school" night. I thought of you :rotfl:

Scary stuff, MommyP. Maybe you need a food processor for grating stuff!

Twinkie got in trouble??! Do tell.

Hey, Peej - glad to hear how you're doing! What were they thinking not telling you about adding a student :sad2:

Hmmm, I wonder how many kids we had in class way back when I was in grade school :confused3 I'm thinking it was 30ish.

Lex - I'm making up for my late nights by sleeping in :lmao:

Cel - Sounds like a fun weekend!

Wendy, thinking of you this afternoon. Or more prezackly, Jordan!

Watching a show on the Food Network, called Food Detectives.

Today's show is "What NOT to put in the microwave"

Dang, yesterday they said Hanna was going to be forced south by a high pressure system, and today they put it right to our east coast! Esily turn right my way again!
Those poor people from Lousiana, evacuating again!

Thanks Marita! He is a quirky man-child, I'm telling you what.
He damaged our previous-previous microwave by putting a foil wrapped burger in it..zapps...sparks...fire...black spot in microwave forever. Fast forward to the latest flax seed neck roll fire and the bed fire of last year...well, he's limited to cold cereal and sandwiches. Now batten down your hatches!

Feel horrible for the LA and surrounding area'd folks having to leave again.
WE just had a nice severe thunderstorm warning that was supposed to include hail (pronounced "hell" in Utah) and 60-75 mph winds and flash flooding. Welp, it got pretty windy and rainy, but nothing like what we prepared for. Southern Utah got slammed, but we got passed up, thank Goodness.

MommyP-
huh, now I'm curious about your fainting. Good you prepared the boys just in case. Now, don't grate the soap without finger protecion.

PJ- yuck pink eye! Twinkie will be getting it soon, She's due for a nice case. Good on the laptop!

Moo- I got to sleep in today too! BIG time. YAY!

Celery- Sounds like fun! Thank you for being honest especially in front of the bread-kids. You freak me out whenever you mention Riley. It takes me a half second to realize there's more than one Riley :sad2: You can have mine too, if you want.

Ladies-
Today I worked out with about 12 firefighters who looked like they came off a calender. Oh MY.

My biggie accomplishment of the day was semi-easily doing a "machine assisted" PULL UP! Which isn't as cool as it sounds, but 2 months ago, I couldn't do one at ALL. Not even an inch. Yay!

Ok Scrabblettes, I officially prefer Wordscraper to Scrabble Beta. I'm digging the 4W score spots. They make up for the no-blank tiles. I'm off to play my turn(s) now.

Wendy - I am scared for whoever is going to get this storm. It's far away from us and we have had very strong winds today. I can't imagine how bad it's going to be for whoever gets the direct hit. But at the same time I am SOOOOOOOOO thankful it's not us. You know? I'm always like, "If it has to hit somewhere please dont be us!" It's so hard to know what to do when there is only 1 way of evacuation and it takes 6+ hours to get out of the state.
