I don't know where you guys play scrabble, but did you know that you can play it live with one another at pogo.com? I tried it, it's fun! You can even make your own private table and stuff and chat while you play.

Wendee.....I don't know where to go from here? I think Janet Evanovich is next on my list. Are they are R rated or just PG? My friend is looking for something to read but she wants R.
I'd say R...definitely. Oh MY!

Yesterday Mr. Twink and I celebrated 11 years of marriage. In that time we have had 4 babies, 3 houses, and 2 graduate degrees. Not bad. It is also exactly 10 years since our first Disney trip (the one day trip that turned into a really really long trip report).

I kinda skimmed but had to go back and actually read because I was wondering why I don't know these Cullens with money. Whose family are they? Oh they are the Vampires. Duh. :rotfl: I haven't read the books either. I don't know how I feel about the undead.

HAPPY Anniversary!

The Twilight author is LDS, and these are "good" un-dead (if THAT helps!)

That's right! I forgot you are our bat expert! Bat-girl!

Facebook...Scrabble and Wordscraper. Completely addicting!

BH- I have caught and touched bats. It is absolute magic to watch them take flight.

Hi, I hope you had a nice Aniversery...I always liked bats too...you should go visit Shanty Hollow Lake sometime I hope they still have the Bed and Breckfast...Ive not been there in 10 years...but the have lots of caves and bats...I enjoyed fishing on the lake and as it is getting dark you can watch all these bats eating insects over the lake. ...swooping down at there prey often comming inches from you...they are great flyers and never actually hit me.

Wendy..the rowers are back on the Olympics...oh yea you will be pleased to know that the German Beach Vollyball team wears pink :)

GOOD MORNING!
Lynette....What Phillipa Gregory is on your list? Sumpm new? Scary bat story. Bats are so creepy! Is your DH from around Marshfield Hills? Remember I told you we have a friend from there? He and his family were at the beach near Plymouth (White stag? Stag's head?) two weeks ago. They're still trying to get us to go with them next year.

Melinda, the book I have is The Queen's Fool. It's about a girl caught in the struggle between Queen Mary and her half-sis Elizabeth. Not sure if I'll enjoy it as much as the Boleyn books, but I'm gonna give it a shot.

1. Yesterday Mr. Twink and I celebrated 11 years of marriage. In that time we have had 4 babies, 3 houses, and 2 graduate degrees. Not bad. It is also exactly 10 years since our first Disney trip (the one day trip that turned into a really really long trip report).

2. However I love bats. Way to go Mr. Lalijack.:thumbsup2 While bats are wild creatures who do belong outside eating 5 times their weight in bugs EVERY NIGHT, I would be so happy to seem some around my house.

1. A belated happy anniversary to the Twinkies! That's a whole lotta goings-on in 11 short years!

2. Listen, Bindi the Jungle Girl, don't go waxing poetic about bats on me when all I really want is for you to be horrified on my behalf! Yeah, they do a service to the community by eating bugs, yada, yada, yada.....I already heard this from the DH. From you, I want shrieking and wringing of hands! Got it?

Thank you, Marita! I needed that!

Your welcome!

I feel the same way about spiders. Especially BIG BLACK SPIDERS (shudder!)
I know they do good, I really do! But I dont need them in the house! That's what I pay Sears once a year pest control mucho bucks for!!!

Oh and speaking of critters.... DH just finished cutting down our last remaining tree from the the last hurricanes (which survived in spite of being dead, go figure...... imagine the tree from nightmare before Christmas, all bare branches, some of which fell off in the last high winds). Well, I guess it didn't survive, it just didnt fall over..... Or maybe it wasn't dead yet at the time, I can't remember.

Anyway, so DH says: "Make sure to get all the laundry out of the garage. With the upcoming storm, all the bugs and snakes and things will try to get inside the house, I just saw a 4 foot snake at the side of the house."

Can you say :scared1:

:faint: I do not feel any kinship or fondness toward vermin of any sort. I scream equally loudly at spiders, snakes, moths, bats, mice, etc. I am an equal opportunity vermin victim, I guess. We have these hideous stink bugs around here in the late summer/early fall. They are brown and look like a cross between a cricket and a cockroach. :scared: Sometimes, they find their way into the house, they terrorize me! Ack, ACK, ACK!

If you see a bat laying on your porch or floor- don't touch it- it is there because it is probably sick. Bats on the wing are most likely VERY healthy. Bats sleeping on man made structures are probably healthy. The little brown bat actually prefers to roost on man made structures. I found one in an out house once.

Seriously? No one else was going to touch this? :rotfl: You really are Nellie Olsen!

The beach was fun. Although Isaac never slept the whole time we were there. He cried a lot while I ignored him in his pack n play. :rotfl: He just would not go to sleep. He loved the water though. The sand, not so much.

Today and tomorrow are prepare the house for the hurricane days. I hate hurricane season. We had to go out and buy plywood today after church. Nothing sucks more than spending money stupid plywood. :headache: It looks to be heading straight at us.

I'm right there with you, MommyP! Although we dont own own any plywood, we live too far inland and are too stupid to take those precautions. I still have tape on my patio doors from the 2004 hurricanes.
Of course, NOW they tell us it makes no difference at all! I can't get get the stuff of the glass, GRRRRRRRRRRR!

Oh great, it just started raining!!!!!!! Like saying, get ready, you fools!!!!

Stay safe, MommyP!
And BH promised to try to huff and puff it out to the ocean!! :hippie:

:rotfl:

I loved the Bindi the Jungle Girl post.

And will you laugh less if I say it was a very nice out house?:thumbsup2

Ok florida people- check in often so we know you haven't been swept out to sea and/or Kansas.

Fabulous, just fabulous!

I went to check my hurricane supples. Candles, for one. And I bought an oil lamp after the last ones. I found the oil, but not the lamp!!!!
Found a fancy candle that DH bought. He said he got it for me and both kids (one each) last Xmas, but I dont remember that. Anyway, in the process, I managed to make half a shelf of stuff from the top of the hall closet fall down, shattering a glass vase! OK, fine, that much less clutter!
But for some reason DH wanted me to vacuum, as he had no want to get glass splinters in his feet:confused3

So I guess it worked out ok, I needed to vacuum anyway.
DH thinks that Fay will miss Florida. Not that he is an an expert . But from his lips.........

What's wrong with love bugs???? They are harmless, and make Love, not war!!!!! :hippie:

Last edited by lalijack : Today at 06:29 PM. Reason: BTW, I need to know WHY there was an outhouse....are we living in 1876?

No. Southern Utah. Your tax dollars at work. I had a summer job surveying bat species and habits for the Forest Service. I think I made $10 a day. I lived in a truck rejected by the Air Force (good enough for the Forest Service) as we drove all over. Let's just say that some places we stayed didn't even have out houses.

The funniest part is that I turned down the Disney College Program for this job.
