we're back -

Marita - loved the typo welvome -

Lali - ouch on the shower - I gave myself a Dr Pepper shower once - not good!:sad2:

Pumpa - amazing how the ancestors survived those early years!

Moo - Dark Night = new Batman movie - the city of Chicago is featured big time!! (DS went to the first midnight showing)

Ok - I'm too tired to go on - Is Peej reading? is Celery home? What happened to Wendy? I dont see here around these parts did she mooov on?

Cake testing - I took pictures - the outside frosting was supposed to be "buttercream" very very thick - and more lard, no butter, too heavy on the vanilla ( to mask the lard - but the color wasnt white, brownish, vanilla!) flavor not all there - but it was thick enough to be a fondunt but with a better taste!!

3 cakes - - $30 so disappointing - fdil thought the chocolate tasted like "tofu" cake - only the color of chocolate - so they used a low quality of cocoa powder to their vanilla cake - and the fillings were pudding, not flavor, just the thickness of pudding, she wanted a lemon custard, no custard, a lemon (out of the bottle) flavor thickened with cornstarch mostly yuckk!

so she immediately called the manager, and calmly described her disappointment... so he has a "high end bakery" that he will send the bride and groom to taste cakes, and if she is really not happy, she can buy a cake at a bakery of her choice and he'll give her a $$ off the package deal -

http://www.casaroyale.com/
here's the venue - that grand piano is a player piano - and it sounds lovely when you walk in - the bar selection they include (its only a $30 per person, includes set up, table centerpieces, full bar, sweet table, champagne toast, wine on the table, 3 course meal - chicken, salmon or steak - and cake which is great for this area!!) click on the pictures!!

thanks for listening...

we crated the dogs while we were doing the testing - it was 6 hours - but the male just cant handle it - he goes nuts - lately at night he howls, I take him out, but he still manages to poop everywhere if I'm not in the room (I watch him, no one else does) he is still aggressive - and bites dd for no reason (I've been in the room) he's just way too much trouble! overwhelmed...

Heya, MOOvers! Thanks for all the good wishes!
ETA: Hound, thanks to a conversation my DD overheard at the airport, I know about the goings on at SYTYCD, but only the girls. I have this week's epi's on DVR, so don't tell me what happened with the boys, 'kay? Thanks!

I got you covered....Its definately worth watching the show

Welcome back BigL! Glad you had a great trip- I want to hear more! I can't believe you survived a hotT college chick sighting.

I have been skimming and skipping around here. No time to keep up. ... I have missed pages and pages. But here is some :wizard: for whatever is going on in your life.

Happy Birthday all you summer babies that I missed. Have some :cake: and eat it too.

I am having a great time hanging out with family and friends. Grasshopper decided to have a growth spurt while on vacation so I had to go shopping and buy him some new clothes. He has also cut a tooth, mastered crawling and is trying to pull up. His hobbies include chewing on toys with lead paint, eating extension cords and reprogramming the dvd player.

Hi Sandy, so sorry about the disppointing cake tasting, Sure hope you find something better.
I hve always told my daughter she needs to elope. No wonder she hates me, LOL! The latest scheme revolved around getting married in a white bikini at my BIL's pool. But now he is getting divorced, so that is probably out anyway. Not that it was ever really a probable situation, but I can dream, right?
Sorry about the dog too. I hope he gets better with time.

I decided to give up on Brokeback Mountain. Not my kind of movie. I mean it is mostly music and little talk, and when there is, I can barely understand them. And I just can't sit here and watch the screen. Just doesn't hold my attenion. My attention span sucks with TV. Well, ok, I left it on, but I am not paying attention, LOL.
It's either this or a 10 year old show of Trading spaces I taped.

i will try this again - typed a long post and the Dis logged me off and the post went into the cyberspace black hole :(

Cy - Two weeks of Scout camp in a row? Sounds like a great opportunity for your son!

What did you think of Dark Night?

Two of my work friends (married couple) are hosting two Scouts from Austria next week who will be in Michigan for an International camp event. They're trying to figure out where to take them on their free day - probably Lake Michigan if the weather cooperates. And they're supposed to take them to a couple different places so they can experience life in the U.S. So they're likely going to a minor league baseball game and grocery shopping. Some group activities that are planned for the visiting Scouts are a trip to Cedar Point and a visit to a water park. I think they'll have a busy week before they go to Northwoods :upsidedow

DS is having a blast this summer!!!! He loved camp this week and is excited about the camp that starts tommorrow. He was appointed to go to the leadership camp and is honored to go to it. the troop picked up the major part of leadership camp :)

Michigan is my old stomping ground, we lived there from 1999 - 2004 (Manistee). Is the Internatioanl Camp the one that is held just over the boarder in Canada? We were suppose to go to that camp in 2002, but it was canceled because of 9-11. We have many fond memories of camp greilick (near Traverse City). We sure miss Michigan, whish we had never left.

The Dark Night is a great movie!!! Heath does deserve an Oscar nomination for his role of the Joker! I highly recommend the movie, but it is very dark and kids under 14 may not want to go (my opion only).

Cy, if not a pedicure, how about that eyebrow wax?????

Sounds like a great summer for your DS. I take it Dark Night is a movie? Sonded like some sort of event to me at first.

MY DS called today. DD was supposed to deposit his check this morning, but she had to go to a class. He was all upset because he was trying to pay some bills. Anyway, DH went to deposit them. Then DS was going to rent a hotel room (get the heck out of Dodge, aka off base) and work on a seating chart for visiting dignitaries for graduation (how that relates to a anything, I do not know, but it was an assignment) and on a video (assistant historian is one of his assignments).

Moo, potato salad sounds goog too!

Welcome home, Lynette! Check in please.

Eyebrow wax?! OUCH, there is no way that will ever happen :rotfl: , beside I just got a new week wacker and if my eyebrows need attention I am sure the weed wacker will do the trick ;)

I am glad to hear the your DS survived his combat training:thumbsup2

When does he graduate? I bet you are so very proud of him!

Thanks, Marita! The noive of some peeps, thinking they can carry on a life outside the DIS! Sheesh!

The suitcase situation just compounded the aggravation which developed when, due to a brief but severe patch of turbulence, and entire cup of coffee (mine) plus a half cup of water (Natasha's) went up in the air and came down on my right shoulder, soaking my shirt front and back, as well as the seatback. That was about 30 minutes into the 3 hour flight. Not so comfy. :sad2: Oy.

The coffee shower - I feel your pain. I have been there and done that, it is no fun!!! the airlines should know better!!! They know that the bumpy weather is coming up and should not give drinks when you are approaching it.

otherwise I am glad to hear you had a nice trip!

Welcome back, Sandy! Sorry the cakes were so disappointing, but the venue look very nice!

Our puppies like to mouth our hands when we first get home. It's been hard to get them to stop since DH encouraged this behavior when they were smaller. A flat palm seems to help discourage them and making a TCH noise like the Dog Whisperer. Maybe the pups have separation anxiety now? You might want to look into getting them to obedience class. Hope things calm down with them soon

I knew Dark Knight was the new Batman movie, but wasn't aware of the Chicago connection - I'm still debating whether to see it. I think Mamma Mia is more my speed ;)

Cy - The Scout event is in Michigan near West Branch. Here's a Web link: http://www.micamporee.org/

TWINK!!!!!!! We've missed you!!!!!!! Glad you're having a good visit with your family and friends :thumbsup2

Twink, will there be pics of Grasshopper performing these daring feats, or must we conjure these images in our minds? With all his recent progress, he'll have graduated high school and started his own version of the Great American Novel by the time your trip is over! Glad you're enjoying your visit!

My mom insists that Boris grew at least a half inch while we were away. I dunno about that, but he did gain 3 pounds. Heh, better him than me! He's still a skinny little guy.

Cy, ITA about serving drinks when the plane is approaching turbulent skies. The evil flight attendant actually seemed to find glee in my discomfort. She handed me paper towels with a hideous smirk on her face. Even my 7 y.o. noticed it.

ETA: Sandy, sorry about the cake tasting. And the rambunctious pup. Have you thought about obedience training? We are going to get our puppy started with that soonishly.

Hi Twinkie! You are missed indeed! Glad you are enjoiying your vacation.

As long as grasshoppers hobbies dont include drinking cleaning fluids (like my DS did) he should be ok. Well, except for chewing on the electric cable, perhaps!

Cy, my son graduates on August 6th, providing he surviives a week in the wildgness nest week.
And really, eyebrow waxing is not bad at all, Better than a weedwacker anytime, I say.

I decided to cook the chicken tonight for the chicken ala king tomorrow. So I will have to go pull chicken in a bit here. Oh, and I found a jar of pimentoes! So I am all set for tomorrow.

I am sure he will do fine. I will keep him in my prayers!

Thanks, Cy!

Sounds like your DS is on a great track in life!

BTW, I have an amazing ability to watch a movie and have no clue what is happening.
I think Heath got divorced. But then he was back with his wife and fighting?
I am totally clueless.........

ETA: dang frigging movie, I ended up rewinding several times and now it's past 2 am
So Im outta here! I still only caught only about half the story line.

WOW, it's past noon and I am first? What is wrong with this picture???

Where is everyone???? Helloooooooooooooooo........

Hello there Moovers!

I went to see Journey to the Center of the Earth in 3D.

Do see this in 3D. There were lots of purposely corny moments, several gratuitous 3D cheap shots. So, if you want serious, don't go.

If you want to be entertained and see some great visuals, then GO! We were entertained, and had fun. Love movies that deliver that!

Kept thinking that if it were at Disney we would have raindrops and scents too, though!

Anyway, DS said: "If I had 2 more arms, I would give it 4 thumbs up!"

I'm back. Did you all get your personal copies of my trip report? I did not see Sig. But, I did see Universal Studios for the first time ever. I did not see Lint or JB. But, I did see Bonnet Creek with an ominous "For Sale" sign on it. I did not see Epcot. But, I did see Narcossis (sp?) and Citricos on consecutive nights. I did not see Marita. But, I did see myself in the mirror burnt beyond recognition after falling asleep by the pool during the two hours it did NOT rain during the trip.

Hmmm.... the cat is away so to speak so there may be pictures. IF I can overcome my colossal laziness. And I am sure the Great American Novel will be started soonishly..... the first chapter begins "oooga ug ga mamamamamama gooo";)

Yikes on the cleaning fluids. I haven't called poison control since the twins were little.

Hi Cy, Sandy, Steph, BBN, UTAHMAMA, DTD, BH, Lil G, MommyP, Peej and everyone else I may have inadvertantly missed/not quoted/etc.

Welcome back W.T's ,Lynette and Twinkie!!!!

It sure is quiet around here today.

I must say staying at a water park for a week is tiring. And with other peoples kids that are very picky eaters....one of which keep saying they were bored. I would say spoiled myself. They had game boys, pools, water slides, mini golf, great playground. I was ready to bring her home the first day. It sure made me appreciate my kids more because they were great.

Now it has been raining all day, not fun packing up in the rain. I say this because I was not in my bathing suit and all wet at the time...

I see. Is the cat in Mamacantfindya this week? Grasshopper's opening lines intrigue me. I can't wait to read an excerpt!

Welcome back W.T's ,Lynette and Twinkie!!!!

It sure made me appreciate my kids more because they were great.

Thanks, NAB!

Nothing like spending time with someone else's little darlings to make you appreciate your own, right? ::yes::

Welcome back, WT!

You sure did pick a rainy week. On the plus side, it was not too hot. Supposed to get to 95 tomorrow, YIKES!

Don;t know if you read I thought I mght have had a WT sighting on Thursday at Kona, family was a perfect fit, and the guy sort of looked like you, But I decided it was a false alarm after all.

Twinkie, are you home already or just taking a break?

And where is Wendy?

I actually dd make the chicken a la king today, and it turned out great, if I say so myself.

Hmm, just got a phone call. Some guy running for office, asking to speak to my DS. I said, sorry, he's not here, he is in Alabama. He goes, well I am running for such and such (I forgot already (big surprise)), and if you are a registered Democrat. I cut him off, saying I'm not even a citizen.
I kind of felt sorry for the guy, he sounded nice, and it wasn't even a recording, he was working the phone himself.
Oh well :confused3

I swear, every single time I consider cancelling my extra phone line and my MSN account, because my wireless home network it just humming along, it craps out on me. EVERY TIME. So far i unplugged and replugged the connections for 2 hours, and nothing. So I am glad I still have the dial up.
And yes, I KNOW I have NO LIFE! You dont need to rub it in.

So I have no life, but by golly, I have my dial up back-up! And I will never go hungry agaiin!

OK, back to wireless! Whew!

Marita - just do what I do - hang out in your car outside of a closed coffee shop for your internet connection!!! ::yes::

I'm back.
Yay! Hey rich lawyer man - can I borrow some money? there's a large resort in FL I hear is for sale....

btw, Marita thought she saw you at Kona, but we decided you'd had a nose job without telling us!

hey big L! Glad you had a good time!

Hiya twinks! Maybe grasshopper and golden child can do a compilation novel?

Hey to everyone else.

HI Cel, sure, I'll run right over to a coffee shop.

I recommend Panera, they have some awesome food and free internet. Unfortunaty it's 25 miles from my house. I was going to go there for a long lunch kast Frday, but due to oversleeping, I never mad it to work, LOL. Had to work from my couch. But the crew went for a long lunch (don't know where though).

I really like Panera's Brocolli soup, they serve one option in a bread bowl, which looks reallly goog! But I can't eat that much in one sitting, and not sure ow well that would survive to take home.

Cel, you really need to talk breadman into getting internet, I miss you!
