I have to clarify, now that the kids are up, dressed, and planted firmly on the school bus so that they might interact with wild turkeys at school.
The redhead did NOT sleep through it. maybe he is destined for SoCal? I checked on him and he looked like he was sleeping, but when he got up for school he asked me why his bed was shaking, so I told him, and then he said "Ohhhhh. I heard the cows moo'ing outside and I thought maybe one came into my room and shook my bed, but I was too tired to tell it to go away, so I went back to sleep."
Why would a cow coming into your room and shaking your bed not be a cause for concern?!?! Do my children have ice water running through their veins? Are they so far gone off the deep end that nothing phases them?
Is it perfectly acceptable here at CRAZYnurse ranch to have cows traipsing through the house?
And then Caleb finally wakes up, and asks if I know what causes an earthquake. I tell him the short answer about the earth shifting usually around a fault line, but he just gives me one of these:
He then proceeds to educate the family on tectonic plates, epicenters, shock waves, the Mercalli Scale, the Richter scale, volcanic quakes, and the Elastic Rebound Theory. I asked him how he knew all this stuff. He said he read it once.
I feel dumb this morning. Carry on.
