Pumba, I just looked at your granddaughter's wedding photos over yonder. Very nice! You could definitely see how close she is with you! . Glad they had a fantastic Disneymoon.

Nabbie - I know your mom will be grateful having you with her for a bit! Hopefully, she and your brother will feel better after being home for a while. Thanks for the updates on the kids as well. So glad summer is finally here!!! I'll probably be over here a bit more now that there's not much on TV . Although, I have already been doing a LOT of reading now that the summer beach reads have started coming out.

Well it will be two weeks tomorrow that I have been sitting in this hospital room.
My mom did so well with the first surgery but this second one is bad. She has not eaten anything since last tuesday. She is very bloated up with fluid. So hard to watch. She had shortness of breath last night which in turn made her have a panic attack. She is in a ICU type setting too.

Sorry i'm rambling... I have time on my hands while she sleeps.

I am also sending prayers for healing, Nabbie. Even with how hard it is to be there at the hospital, it is good for your mom to have your company and for family to be there to advocate for her.

Thanks for the prayers. We had yet anther set back. She is still boated and they are thinking another surgery maybe coming. Her bowels are still not working. The last few nights she can't breathe today she went back to ICU and now has a breathing tube in. I'm so tired and upset right now. I came back to a place I feel calm and can just ramble... Thanks my friends.

Nabbie, so sorry, sending more prayers for your mom. At least you are with her, that is a great comfort I never had with my parents. My mom passed away just after my brother visited her from coming home from a 2 week visit to Spain. I have no doubt she hung on until he came back.

Can our family catch a break!

My nephews 5 week old baby is waiting to have surgery tonight. Her step sister had strap throat and gave it to the baby. The virus strangled her stomach. So now she has a blockage. Now they do surgery. Crazy

My mom is still on the breathing tube. They are giving us two days to get her off before the wreck her vocal cords. Next step is putting her on a trake. What a long haul we have been on.

Keep my whole family in your prayers please..

My family is also having a bit of a rough go lately as well - just lost an uncle a little over a week ago and have an aunt in the hospital following a heart attack -- they're trying to get the fluid off her heart before doing bypass surgery, hopefully next week. They are both of my mom's generation, but a little younger than she was.

On a more positive note, I had a great getaway "up north" to Traverse City for a few days with my youngest sister and got to hear my favorite author, Diana Gabaldon, speak as part of the National Writers Series. I splurged so that we could stay in a couple different winery B&Bs. I really liked the second one we stayed in, Black Star Farms Inn. It had the ambiance and customer service of a deluxe Disney resort. The only downside was no elevator. I am definitely planning to stay there again; hopefully in the ground floor room!!! The breakfasts at both places were phenomenal

Moo-- It is the pits watching family members suffer. Prayers for your family. Hope your aunt is doing better.

My mom is still in the hospital. I finally came home last night because my brothers and sisters said I needed a break after 5 weeks of sitting bedside. Now she has had yet another complication. She has edema really bad. Looks like a line backer, I kid you not. She went in weighting 146 lbs and now weights 220 from the fluid. They started dialysis 2 days ago and have taken off 11 litres of fluid but has a long why to go. Her kidneys are not working to do this on their own. They said they would do this for 4-5 days so the doctor said go home during this period. Well I guess last night she started to throw up again. Good thing my sister was still there because she noticed it coming out of her mouth or she would have choked. My mom also has a trach in with the breathing tube in there and can not move. Not sure how much more I can take or her. We are divided half of us wanted her to not suffer anymore and half of us siblings say lets keep going.

I'm just tired...if I am I can imagine how tired she is of all this. Another reason I had to come home yesterday was a broke my back tooth last Friday but didn't get it fixed until yesterday. I didn't want to leave. My sibling thought I was going to get sick or an infection from it too.

My brother has been banned from going to see my mom too. He got yet another infection in his body. He really needs to take care of himself too or her will be in the hospital again.

I feel almost guilty, but I have exciting news here. My daughters boyfriend proposed tonight. He surprised her at the airport when she got back from a conference. I'm going to be a mother-in-law!

Marita so happy for you!! You will be a good mother in law ... Grandmother too when that time come. But one thing at a time.

I am back at my moms .. Having a family meeting tomorrow about my mom. One day at home was heaven.

Nabbie, I'm so sorry that your family and you are going through such a rough time

My aunt had quadruple bypass surgery this morning and her family says she is doing OK. Having our parents and members of their generation get older and have health problems is rough

Marita - Congrats on your daughter's good news! Now you just have to figure out how to pay for the wedding!!!

Thanks for the prayers. It was the first day of visitation one and a half to go. Funeral is on Wed. Afternoon. I'm so tired.
I'm just happy my husband let me stay at her bedside the whole 7 weeks. All my mom brothers and sisters thanked me for that.
