Moo'vers 2012 Edition! come on in!

The cleanup of the skunking has been awful. Even though the dogs didn't come into the house, we managed to track some of the stink inside :( I think I'm going to have the old indoor/outdoor carpet in our back room/laundry replaced with vinyl flooring after our trip. That room got the worst of it because i opened the door a few times right after they were sprayed to go outside to try to clean off their faces because they were vomiting. The wouldn't let me do that, so I just threw their old beds and some towels out there and hoped they'd wipe their own faces off...

We gave them baths Wednesday morning and night (per Google, the best solution these days is hydrogen peroxide/baking soda/dish soap), then kennelized them in the garage or put them out in the back yard until today, when we took them to Petsmart for deodorizing baths and had their hair shaved to about 1/2 inch. I washed down the garage this afternoon because we had let them loose in the garage the second night before thinking to put them in a kennel, so I had to clean up the stink that they tracked around in there.

As I have been washing clothes, I've been putting them in an uncontaminated bedroom and I've started my packing in there as well. I will be glad to get away for a few days after all this!!! I think I will be asking the boarding kennel to give them another bath before we pick them back up!

NAB, sounds like a fun Halloween. I barely saw any kids, hubby took Friday off so he could sit outside and hand out candy on Halloween. Fine with me, I hate getting up every 5 or 10 minutes.

Moo, the skunking sounds just awful. Hope it was the first and only time. Glad you have a chance to get away on vacation.

Nothing going on here, I have been working my hiney off. Yesterday was from noon till 1am, but luckily from my couch with a glass or 6 of wine, LOL.

So are you all gearing up for Thanksgiving?

My house is already for Christmas usually I do it on the 25th so it is one month out but Hannah wanted some things out last week so that meant everything came out. It is packed away so that everything she wanted was in the back under the stairs so while everything was out I put it up and put all the empty boxes back in.

Which is probably a good thing since I cut my big toe this morning putting groceries away. A can of Pilsbury croissants fell on my toe cutting where the skin meets the bottom of the toe nail. Bled pretty bad I thought for sure I need it stitches. Good thing hubby was home to clean and bandage me up. He was a sleep coming off night shift and he could here me downstairs yell for him. I didn't notice it was bleeding so bad so I had blood all over the kitchen floor by then. Looked like a crime scene. :rotfl: Who knew a little can could do so much damage.

Marita- I was watching a show , actually I did not watch the whole thing on TLC about neighbourhoods in Florida that are Nudist. I just couldn't see walking around all day with out clothes on but people retire there and young couples go there too to start a new life. Maybe you like to retire there.....Looked like a nice neighbourhood. :lmao:

Nab, ouch about the toe, yikes! Glad hubby was around to bandage you up.

I'm all ready for Thanksgiving, since I don't do anything, LOL. We are usually invited to the in-laws, but nothing so far this year..... Oh well, if we don't go to someone's house we will just go to a seafood restaurant, they may still be able to seat us, LOL. My big stress is Christmas Eve with 20+ people in the house and the whole ham/turkey and fixings meal. I would love to not do it, but it's tradition for 40 years and hubby wont let me scrap it.
With that Christmas stress in mind, I don't want to be reminded of it yet with decorations in my house, LOL.

So Marita is it the fish place for you tomorrow?

Moo saw your chex mix looks yummy. I am still eating Halloween candy since we didn't get many trick or treaters this year.

Kids have Friday off this week. The malls and stores here are trying to compete with your Black Friday sales. Not sure what the deals are but I will not be going near a mall or store for this craziness.

Hope all of you have a Great Thanksgiving! Still very thankful for all of you here even though it is quiet. I try to look on my fb page to see what is happening with all of you there but not all that often so I might miss something here and there

Did see all Celery/Amber's wedding and honeymoon pics .

Nab, no, we decided to just stay home. My daughter and her dog are probably coming over. I got a roasting chicken and some stuffing and will make a green bean casserole and a cheese cake and Pumba's crab mousse to finally try out. It will be a quiet day for us, but that's fine with me.
I am certainly not going out into the shopping frenzy either, I do all my shopping online if I possibly can. Did I mention I hate shopping, LOL?

Marita-- glad you got to have a relaxing Thanksgiving at home.

I did end up going out to the mall with the kids. I told them I will go in the parking lot and if we don't find a spot right away we leave. Wouldn't you know it they spotted one right away and no else was coming to steal it. So we went in. Lots of people not to many sales in my opinion. You guys to Black Friday better. I did buy two presents so I guess it wasn't a total loss. I am usually done by none but not this year.

Christmas is only 25 days away you know and I have to start baking it a week or so the presents have to be bought by then.

We went out as a family to see the new Disney movie Frozen. What a great movie. I was losing faith in animated ones lately so I told Hannah I didn't think I wanted to go but glad I did. It was pretty funny and sent you though lots of emotions. I think I even gasped in a few places thinking oh no this can't be happening. Two thumbs up for this movie. It did have one scene after the credits but not really worth staying for like some other movies.

Nab, I would love to start learning how to bake when I retire, lol, if I had anyone to pawn it off to. I'll probably start with cooking though.

For once I am done with my xmas shopping early this year. 1 or 2 things for hubby and the kids, hubby takes care of everything else, he goes way overboard and gets stuff nobody wants. He sifts through magazines for weeks on end. But you can't talk him out of it........

I got one early present, a Shark floor cleaner. Oh how I love it! You just glide it over the floor and it cleans beautifully without any pressure. I might just start cleaning the kitchen floor for fun, LOL. Plus you just put a bottle of cleaner in, no wringing or switching out dirty water.

Work is really slow right now, so I have been thinking about retirement more, although I do want to hang around till July of '15 if I can, an extra $400 a month for life, so worth it, but if this doesn't get better, I might just call it quits next July. We shall see...

Asking for you prayers tonight.

My Aunt Pat passed away on Sunday from a brain tumor. We only found out about it last month. Her wake is today and funeral tomorrow. Weather where they are has been bad so I stayed home and was going to go to the funeral tomorrow. Or at least try because we are in for a snow storm over night.

That is not the worse of it. My Aunt Ruth, my mom's sister was killed this morning when a tow truck hit her car. Both families are intertwined. Aunt Pat was married to Aunt Ruth's Brother. Ruth was married to Pat's brother so the family is really in bad shape over this.

We are all in shock here. Just before Christmas to so sad.

On another note. Tomorrow is the anniversary of my first husband's death so I have been down all week. He will be gone 22 years but it seems like yesterday.

I'm just sad....

Oh Nab, I'm sorry, that is awful! Hugs to you!

Prayers for you and your family.

I got your card, thank you, your kids are getting so big, hard to believe.
I hope you get to feeling better by next week.

Sending prayers, Nabbie, and a big  So sorry to hear about the loss of your aunts :( We lost my MIL around this time of year, so I know how sad these anniversaries can be. We have gotten a fair amount of snow, but not the maximum that was predicted. Hope you are in one of the lighter snowfall areas.

On a more positive note, I also got your Christmas card and LOVED your photo! Can't believe how tall Nicholas has gotten!!!

Hi, Marita! I would love to retire, but plan to wait til I'm 62. Just bought a new car last weekend so it will be paid off by then, LOL! I got a 2014 Nissan Rogue and it drives so much better on the snow with all wheel drive than my PT Cruiser did. And I get better gas mileage even though it is a bigger car :)

Moo, sadly I WILL be 62 in July :sad2: So we shall see what happens in July. Hubby plans to retire in August, I'm not sure I can stand being home alone with him all day long, LOL. Plus I have yet to figure out what to do with myself all day.

Congratulations on the new car!
I want to get a new car too, I keep forgetting to go downstairs to the Credit Union to get prequalified and get their buyers program to get the best price. I'll get another Civic, it's been a great car for 11 years now. I want to get the '13 model while it's on sale, but if I don't get a move on fast, I will have to wait another year or just get a '14 model. It would be nice to have a new car for my last year or two of 1 1/2 hours/day of driving.

Nabbie, I hope you are doing OK and feeling a bit better!

Yep, Marita, you need to get moving on that! I drove my car for 9 1/2 years. It was astounding to see all the technology changes in the new cars!!! I have a satellite radio, navigation system, Bluetooth for using my phone hands free, backup camera, and a system that tells me if I'm too close to the lines in the road and when someone is in my blind spot!

I also got the panoramic moon roof. Not a convertible top, but very cool :)

Ice storm was pretty bad here. Sure hope we get our power back on for Christmas!

I hear you Moo we had our power out too but it is back on now. Have been chopping ice off the driveway and sidewalks all day. My hands are hurting as are my arms. I will be sore tomorrow.

Finally got all the ice off the car window to put the wipers and to hard and bust one off....grrr. Give me snow over this any day. What a mess out there.

Glad we didn't have this last Thursday when we went up to the funeral. My aunt was well know in her community, she did a lot of volunteering. I have never seen a receiving line go out side the funeral home and to the side walk . She had thousands come pay there respect. My poor mom and her brothers and sisters were really tired by the end of the night. We waited an hour in the line then went visiting others that were still in line most of the night.

I'm ready for Christmas. Going to my mom's tomorrow I think if the weather is nice to us.

Moo-- congrats on the new car! What colour did you get?

Nabbie, glad to hear your power is back on and that you made it to the funeral. A good friend of mine unexpectedly lost her mom Friday night. She had had dementia for the past few years, but was not sick otherwise. I will try to make it to visitation tonight.

I am at work today. Brought my stuff in so I could shower. Don is at home running the generator. I saw a large convoy of out-of-state power trucks on my way in to work today. They are saying over 200,000 people are without power in Michigan :(

Power is out again. The ice around here is terrible. My arm and hands are killing me today. Suppose to have Christmas dinner for hubby side but am afraid I well have to throw everything out when I get home. We came to my mom's early, warm here but still icy.

Nabbie, sorry for your power.

I need to vent for a minute: I asked my daughter what time she is coming over tomorrow for the big dinner for 20+ people. Same as everyone else, she said, I'm not helping you clean the house, I don't live there anymore.
Now if one if her cousins asked her to help to put on a big dinner, she would be there in a heartbeat. Sorry, I'm kind of bitter right now.

Nabbie - Hope you are able to salvage your food! We have been able to keep our fridge cold enough using our generator. 9 degrees F here right now. Brrr. Our back room is barely above freezing :(

Marita - Hope you made it through your dinner tonight! Maybe you need to "be sick" or take a trip next Christmas Eve and let hour hubby deal with all the preparations!!! That might cure him ;) Or have him ask your DD to help out since she is such a daddy's girl.

MERRY CHRISTMAS MY DEAR FRIENDS!

The ice is still terrible here with a lot of snow coming down on top. We don't have to go out today but family is coming here. I hope I don't give them food poisoning. I hoping my food in the freezer is still ok.

I'm just happy to have the power back on , there are still some here without until Saturday they say. Some of died because of CO poisoning in town. One ran a generator in there garage others using BBQ in the house. So sad and needless. There are a lot of warming stations set up for them.

Did have a nice Christmas at my mom's this year we still have a few little ones. My great nephew he is almost 2 was so cute singing Frosty and two other little girls that were just so excited Santa was coming.

Marita-- Hope your dinner went well. Sorry you got now help from your dd. I know the feeling all to well with my kids.

Moo-- Saw your pictures over on FB. Don looks all cute wrapped in his Star trek blanket or was it Star wars. And you look lovely as ever.

Hope all our old friends from here are having a Great Christmas Too!
