Hi gang. I just wanted to stop by and say thanks so much for the prayers and well wishes. That means so much to me.

If you want to read what happened, I'll give a brief synopsis. Twink: Shield your eyes.

Basically, I was at work, my dh had gone to get a load of hay for the horses and dropped the boys off at his brother's house to play with their cousins. They were bike riding and one of the little cousins darted in front of Caleb and Caleb T-boned him with his bike, which sent him flying, and to the best of everyone's knowledge, perhaps the pedal went inside him.

After I stopped by my gma's after work, I headed home and noone was there. I was like WTH? Where is everybody? Right about that time my phone rang and my husband said get to the ER, Caleb's been "cut", but I knew something was way wrong by the way he talked.

When I was about a minute away, he called again and he said "I just saw him. You have got to get here. I can see his intestines!"

I think I lost it for a moment, but i knew I had to pull myself together b/c I KNEW Caleb would be watching my expression as soon as I entered the room. I guess I went into nurse mode. I kinda flipped a switch and when I walked in there, I wanted to scream, pass out, cry, but I just looked at him and made a remark about "At least you can still carry on the family name" or something stupid, so he would laugh. But then I turned to my husband and mouthed "OH MY GOD!"

The doctor wanted me to leave the room while they were stitching him up. It was really, really deep. And I knew it would take forever to stitch up and that Caleb would be scared so I said "I'm not leaving" and then the doctor tried to act like I would faint if I would watch and I said "I'm not leaving" and then he smarted off and said "I don't need TWO patients. You CANNOT hit the floor" and I said "I'm not leaving." Finally, my husband said " I know her. She won't faint. She will be fine. and she's not leaving"

They did a CT scan and there was some fluid in his abdominal cavity, so we were worried about internal bleeding. Long story short. He has no further bleeding and while he is sore and hurting, I think he will be ok.

He was supposed to try out for the track team on Monday, and the coach was really excited about him trying out. He is bitterly disappointed about that, and it nearly broke my heart to tell him the doctor said "no track for now"

ANYWAY, thanks for letting me get that off my chest, but more importantly thank you again for all of your prayers. You guys are the best.:grouphug:

... to our dear lil'; eliszebeth, we all know underneath that
tough, linebacker...attitude..is a sweet loving, mommie, with
a heart as big..as the peytons'''...trophy case.

* cursing & humor..are nurses #1 coping skills...:rolleyes1

:flower3: ..cos..as we all..know..his mommie ..will be up....watching all
night..., mothers, it never fails..everytime..you are the first,
every kid..when hurt/sic...will be asking ..for....i sure miss my,

 ,

sound like babynurse....will need a good vacation..to disneyworld! or
dcl?

Lil G: Your post made me laugh and nearly cry at the same time.

As far as the cursing and humor for nurses. I absolutely employ one of the two. The rest of the nurses seem to use them both. hee hee

I was up every hour assessing for internal bleeding like a mad woman and I do think I need a trip to Disneyworld. Woo hoo!

Sounded like a scary night for you at work. I hope things are well with your co-worker.:goodvibes

I'm guessing this was an understatement. :)

Glad to hear Caleb seems to be ok!

HOLY COW. A guy takes a few short hours off (to play golf and spend most of the night/morning in a casino) and look what happens.

BBN, I am so sorry and now happy that your son is OK. Take care of him. Evidently he has people he never knew that care about him (and you). Count me in as a Me Tooer.

BBN, how truly scary!!!!! Glad Caleb seems OK. The track team thing is surely very disappointing, poor kid! :grouphug:

LilG, scary night for you too, wow! Glad you didn't get strangled.

Steff, good to see you, Love your new avatar! Your trip is getting close, woohoo!!

Twinkie, hope you are enjoying your beautiful day on the prairy :goodvibes

Nabbie, OUCH! I had a big, strong guy slam my finger with the sliding door of a Van years ago at work. NOT GOOD!

WT, you are alive! I was starting to think you left us....

I am busy reading cruise reports and tips, and trying to print out a Navigator sample, but the *&%@; printer is not cooperating. I briefly thought about going on a shopping trip, but I held tight until the urge passed. I have another weekend coming up, after all...

E- thanks for the update (and the warning.... I managed to skim by taking a couple of breaks.)

 He will continue to be on our prayer list.

Good Lord, woman, you had me bawling, thanks a lot!! I'm sorry about the track team. I bet he's really bummed. :guilty: Any chance the coach will let him try out at a different time later in the season? The whole crazynurse crew will continue to be in my prayers. Hope Caleb heals soon, he's so so very lucky to have a mom that loves him so much. LYLABBT.   And just to make you smile...

Good to hear Caleb's on the road to recovery. He'll continue to be in our thoughts and prayers so his recovery will be speedy and he'll have no infection or complications etc. Poor kid!

Hugs to you and your diligence and love for him.

Really, do you need a note from your imaginary friends to give the coach so he can try out later? :3dglasses

Love ya Elisabeth!

:goodvibes ..dear sweet princess E.., but xactly what i would
expect...a mother & her child..is the strongest bond known
to kindgom! & i know..you being there!..thru blood & guts....
made all the difference!

.....:scared: , we sure got lucky last night. thank goodness..her
guardian angel was on the job! :cloud9:

..ok, this is so sad...as it is true. they have hidden this so call pt. for
years..on our floor. [ * our critera..is for no more than aweek.] .
in reality..he likes being pyschotic..for the high..& he will continue
to try to kill others.

think of this..during the "jch inspectors"..they transfer him for 2 weeks
to a fornestic..unit up in cleveland..that's right..hiding the person" until
they left. oh, wanted to know their rsults..they told us [inspectors],
they have "0".. no recomnedations..for us. ask if our superiors even
told us a job well done?.."0" again. ok? think about those shows,,,on
cold blooded killers..this is what he is....& for years, been attacking
to kill staff..* if we weren't experienced and skilled..he would have
been sucessful many times over. now they're going to do this
disney thingy..called "magic eyes"..but i think is totally unprofessional
..bascially sending spies.."opened eyes", my A!...so they're sending us
fake..pts...though we rated the top level..possible for jch? idiots
that 'we" all pay good money...there ought to be an act of congress
.....investigating..these superiors....for their lack of leadership.

it would shocked any person..hearing the abuse..they permitt against
staff..oh, our union.,....in the past..had sexual relations..with manag.
"you have"
no idea....& don't wanta kno, esp. twinkle..psst, i wish, i didn't ! how
much you wanta bet..their "spies" ..will have one "eye" closed?

the pod..*never came...nor did he made rounds..& yet he discharged
pts, one that should never been....we had a medical emergency,
and no code nurses..showed up..just a nurse..from...the medical
ward..not one from our icu! all the fire dept. staff was good
for..was holding up the blanket..."we got really lucky". yes,i ran
the code...by default...but that should have never been! :scared:

& sooner or later..he is going to kill a staff...or another pt.., that
they will blame on us!...oh, when our staff comes..in, they never
kno..how long they going have to work..not becos of emergency-
call ins..but from these "don't give a crap" drs..who accept dangerous
pts...that must be assigned 1:1..forcing them over.then they got the
nerve..to blame staff ..for poor care, get this..they wouldn't
kno the difference! they jus kno to blame the poor lil'staff.

..now..you know..how some very dangerous people are running
free..:rolleyes1

* one supervisor ..tried to help..us..& the others jumped all over
him!...

sorry to blowing,,,i guess..i'm really...woory about..our lil nurse!

Hugs to Elisabeth and family :grouphug: Hope Caleb mends quickly. Continued prayers from Michigan!

PJ. I'm sure that bacon cheeseburger was appreciated by E :thumbsup2

Lil G, please keep us posted on your nurse friend. Too much excitement. She was so lucky to have you there

We lost one of our district staff to an MI during a meeting at work a couple years ago. People had tried to get defibrillators in the building prior to that without success. It's sad that it took something like that to finally get them installed.

Nabbie, sorry to hear about your thumb. Poor Nicholas, I bet he felt bad about hurting his mama :flower3:

Steph, hope you're feeling better. I had an intestinal bug Sunday night and Monday. Not fun :sad2:

To everyone who is having nice weather this weekend, I'm SO jealous!!!!!!!!!! The white stuff is melting here, but it's only 40ish.

Just a heads up - tomorrow is Melinda and my hubby's birthday! And my niece turns 21 :dance3:

And my niece turns 21 :dance3:
REALLY?! My niece turns 21 tomorrow, too!

Elisabeth, honey....I almost passed out when I was reading that. I can't even look when my kids get a scrape. I can look at other people's kids' scrapes....but not my own. You're officially Mom of the Year in my book. Here's to a speedy recovery for Caleb.

BBN, so sorry to hear of Caleb's injury. That's a scary one. Prayers and hugs sent. Glad to hear he's going to be ok. I had some goog bike wrecks, including one where I hit a parking space barrier and cleared a 7 foot hedge, but nothing like that. Track teams often pick up members throughout the season, so when he's able, he will likely get to try out.
The weather here is perfect, unfortunately I'm off Wed and Thur, when it will be back to carppy. Then after work Fri we head south for 5 days. Mobile won't be that much better, though with highs around 60 and lows in the forties. A little better, but not much. Ah well, the seafood will be great.
I'm trying to work on the trippie, but nothing sounds right. I will get something up soonish. On the planning board, they're complaining about the hamburger buns. On our trip, we ate at Wendy's on the way and Hardees on the way home, with NO burgers in between. I can certainly do better at WDW.
Gotta go try to unblock my brain. Later, gators and nongators alike.

Yes you did! ;)

Pleeeeease work on your TR. I need a little D-fix. :flower3:

Put DOWN the Double Bacon Burger with Cheese! At least it has tomato and lettuce...so you've got a food group represented.

Hey, we got snow then today it's back to spring. WTHeck?

TV alert!

At 9 pm tonight on ABC is a new reality show sponsered by Oprah. The biggest giver, or something. Whoever helps someone the most gets $1 million from Ophrah. The local TV critic predicts it to be a huge hit.

DTD, have fun on your trip!

I have neither had my nap this evenng, nor done my laundry (well, a part is done and in the dryer waiting to be folded, a part is in the washer waiting to be driied and hung up)

Danggit!!!!!! Nor have I done any shopping for the cruise. I think I need a sick day

Whatever happened to the vision of Rosie from the Jetsons???

Really, do you need a note from your imaginary friends to give the coach so he can try out later? :3dglasses
I should like to see a copy of that note!! Do imaginary friends hold any credibility?

PJ. I'm sure that bacon cheeseburger was appreciated by E :thumbsup2
I'm pretty sure food is always appreciated by her. I also figured I better get right back to snarking at her and stop being so nice. Don't want to confuse the poor thing.

But the better question is...when will there ever be Desperate Housewives on Sunday nights again!!!!? :sad2:

Last edited by DonaldTDuck : Today at 06:48 PM. Reason: I'm cravin that bacon cb, thanx peej
You're welcome. Can I get you anything else with that? :flower3:

I claim to be doing lesson plans at the moment. :rolleyes1

Ohmigosh! What a weekend this has been! Elisabeth, I'm so glad Caleb is okay! It took me a few tries to get thru your recap of his bike accident, but I made it. I cannot even imagine what must have been going thru your head as you drove to the hospital! I will pray that Caleb recovers quickly and with ease.

I hope that everyone else had a good weekend. I had my BFF's 40th b-day party last night and my niece's baptism this afternoon. Which, while oodles of fun, seriously cut into both my housework and my bum-laying time. I harumph this weekend!

Wendy, in the interest of clarification (TM BBN), that website I mentioned in the notes of our game is an actual site, which is a rhymes-with-witchy dressing down of celebrity style and fashion. Quite enjoyable, really. Any time someone's throwing snark around, I'm there. Check it out.

PSA: Season 2 of Dirt (starring Courteney Cox) begins tonight at 10 on F/X. Another scathing commentary on tabloids and celebrities. LOVE IT!

Another TV tip:

New series: Here come the newlyweds, on ABC.

Hi Lynette, sorry about missed bumlaying. For some reason, hardly any housework got done around here either. And I did not even leave the house. I'll tivo the dirt show, my attention span for shows is horrible.
Why did nobody ever buy me that Roomba (sp?) vacuum thing?

Thanks, Marita. Now my qi (gratuitous use of Scrabble word) will be discombobulated all week! However, I suppose that the dancing I did at BFF's b-day party can at least be counted as exercise. So all is not completely lost.

I am DVRing Dirt and watching Dexter, which is my new guilty pleasure on Sunday nights. Sheesh, talk about dark!:scared:

okie dokie I was skimming and I read this post this way- which made a lot of sense-

I love it!

Don't clean now!

Just tivo the dirt for later :thumbsup2
