Oh, quite a dilemma!

When my daughter was almost of age for a permit, she decided to take DH's car on a test drive in the neighborhood, with her girlfriend in the car. That litlle excursion cost her another year of waiting for her learners permit!

:scared1: :scared1: Luckily, DS is my rule following kid, now DD on the other hand, will be locked in her room until she's 30! :lmao:

Toothless people at the DMV :rotfl2: I am picturing photo time :upsidedow

You may think I'm kiddin', but I guarantee there will be someone there missin' some teeth at the AL DMV. I'll give a TR. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Atleast I got a pedicure today, so my toes are ready for the cruise, I need some cute shoes though (and you know I HATE shopping).

I think I decided that cute sandals and maybe a cute shorts outfit is all I need. Only 3 days, after all.

I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

Ooohhh, cute toes definitely need NEW cute shorts and sandals! :thumbsup2 BTW, Have a great time on your trip!

Allie-- you can get a license at 15...here it is 16 not looking forward to that.

This is just his Learner's Permit. He has to drive with us in the car for a year, then take a driving test (at 16) before he can drive in a car by himself.

Part of our date was shopping for Riley's birthday present. He's turning 8 on Monday and ALL he reeeeeally wants is Heely's (skate shoes). It's what he asks for every single birthday and Christmas. I always tell him he'll break his neck, in a "You'll shoot your eye out" manner. So I'll just tell him if he breaks his neck and is in a coma, don't come crying to me.

Hi Allie sweetie! So? Do you like Scrabble? :rolleyes1

I always tell my kids that if they end up in the 'Mergency room after I warned them of the dangers, then THEY are paying the deductible! ;) :lmao:

I don't Facebook, sorry. :sad2: Plus, I ain't very guuud. ;)

GOOG MORNING! :sunny:

Had an early basketball game yesterday and did a lot of reading. Down to the wire on The Other Boleyn Girl. Kinda stinks when you already know how it ends. The movie comes out next week so need to finish.

I rented The Jane Austen Book Club last night. Goog movie. Now I wish I'd read all Jane Austen's books. I'll get around to it one day.

I think I'll move to Vista Del Lago with Nebo and Smidgy. I am not opposed to a *manufactured home* in a retirement-ish community. It's warm and right now I'm freezing. And it looks affordable and near WDW.

Allie
....If I'm old enough to have a kid going to college, then you're old enough to have one driving. Save your money....for the insurance. ::yes::

Moo....I need a recliner for my reading pleasure.

Marita
....You actually sound excited about the cruise! YAY! No swim suit??

Joe
....We went on a *Disney* cruise (back then Premier Cruise Line was the official Disney cruise line) for our honeymoon 20ish years ago. I was a-skeered in Nassau. It's not somewhere I need to go again. I don't like all those people at the straw market and on the street yelling at me to buy their stuff.

Everybody
.......:wave2:

HAVE A BLESSED SUNDAY!

“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” - Jeremiah 29:11-13

Marita- When DH went on a cruise to the Bahama's when we were in Naussa, we were told if you want to go anywhere to use the taxi's up front, well being stupid we didn't want to fight the mob and we walked past them. We were approached by a dude who wanted us to ride in his taxi, price sounded good so we were to follow him. Where's the taxi? Don't worry follow me.....I got uncomfortable as we were walking aways, why wasn't the car over here? we decided to go back to the mob and I never saw anyone get so angry. This dude flipped out on us and when we got back to the cruise ship area he disappeared.

So, listen to what the cruise people tell you. They know what they are talking about.

We went to a nightclub and had to be metal detectored to get in.

Morning all,

Just wrote out a long post and the Dis ate it.

Marita-- the clothes sound fine to wear to dinner. It does get pretty warm so I would invest in some shorts for sure.

Be prepared for the hair braiders too they are everywhere. Braid your hair miss....they drove me crazy.

Lexi-- hated the straw markets too when we were in Jamaica.

Ally-- Here we can't get our learners permit until we are 16 then you get tested one year later, not before. Use to be get your learners and could go get your license the next day if you wanted. Kids are also on probation after they get there license for 2 years I think. Meaning they start with less points and have rules like no driving on major highways at night etc. Only two people in the car with you. It is tougher to get your license here and more expensive, $100 just to write the learner part and another $75 for the driving part.

Well I have to head off to church and then the birthday party again....

Have a Great Sunday everyone!!

Nab- that's the way it should be here too. They practically give away the licenses these days. When Jordan was 16, I wouldn't allow him to get a license due to his grades and irresponsible behavio(u)r. Believe me, I hated waking up every morning to take him to school, but his grades magically got a lot better, and so did his behavior. He didn't earn the right to drive till after he was 17. :drive:

Cruisers- see, that's the stuff I don't want to do: deal with aggressive locals. Everything else, I'd love. Besides Disney, is there other VERY kid friendly cruiselines?

Basement update: We (as in not me) just put up all the insulation. It's the sound blocking kind for the "theater room". It's weird to have barriers down there. It's going to be a great space! Sheet rock today. *edited to add, no, it's not a real theatre room. It's just the place where the TV will hang and seats will be placed in a normal Family Room way. But the electrical is all concealed behind the wall. That is the only influence I have on the space...no wire mess.

MOOO HOO on the basement progress. It's been a long time in the making for sure.
But I am happy you decided to defer it and come to Dismeet instead!

Re: getting a license, in Germany you have to be 18, and go to a commercial driving school, with classroom instructions and driving lessons. I think it was around $500 when I got my license 30++ years ago.

Celery: Thanks for your concern, and the rodeo was far, far, away. So far in fact that one of the best lil stalkers in the history of stalkers FOUND ME. I'll let y'all guess who that was.:scared:

Twinkie: Goog luck with the tax mess. When a friend of ours started her own tax prep business a few years ago, we were MORE than happy to let her do ours. Now she has us on file, we have our system down pat, and she has all the headache, and all we do is sign on the dotted line. I am sooooo thankful for her!

Utah: Glad you had a nice date. Did anybody end up dancing?

Marita: The cruise sounds like lots of fun. I'm the only person in my family not to have been on a cruise. I'm hoping to change that someday.

LilG:
I thought babies up at 3 a.m. would have been outlawed by now.;)

Lynette: FOUR Scrabulous games at once? Taking multitasking lessons from Jack?:rotfl:

I survived the rodeo and we actually had a nice time. All livestock and cowgirls made it back in one piece. Woo Hoo.

NO dancing for him. So I didn't too-either.

I am involved in 5 scraulous games EXCEPT one is with Celery and one is with Sandy who are both MIA or Chicken, I can't tell which.

Me and Lynette and Moo and Monica have active One on One games going on. I almost said girl on girl games, but that sounds naughty and Scrabble is SERIOUS...:snooty:

Glad to hear all the cowgirls and livestock are safe and sound. I was hoping you would run into a pirate ballerina as I have been worried about her.

Wow- Utah- a date?!? for no good reason? sounds dee-light-ful. Congrats on your home the-ay-ter. Buy Riley some Heelies. He is a good kid.

JOE- did you really warn Marita not to buy illegal drugs?:lmao:

Lots of happy news here!

1. My dad reports he sucessfully retrieved ALL my pictures. The hard drive had 14 major viruses. He is still running stuff to make sure the files are clean and is then going to burn the disks for me (He says it will take 16 CDs). Dads are wonderful! I know he spent all day yesterday working on it.

2. My federal taxes are DONE. :cool1: I was too fried to start the state ones.

3. I think I got a compliment from my DS almost 14. I was running late for church (as usual) and so pulled back my (wet) hair in a low ponytail. I couldn't find my sunglassses so I "borrowed" DH's ultra cool silver ones. I was wearing a black sweater (the ninja union requires it) and my black leather jacket. As I pull up (DS and DH drove in the other vehickul), DS says "Wow Mom. You look like that girl from the Matrix." Yup. Carrie Anne Moss is my Sunday goin'-to-meetin' look. :rotfl2:

Can I send your dad my broken hard drive? All I want are the pictures.

I toadilly can picture it. With one twin under each arm and the baby's onesie in your teeth, GoldenChild on your back...

Hope everyone's having a relaxing Sunday. I have been reading most of the day when I wasn't doing laundry or shopping. Lex, the new chair is wonderfu for reading :thumbsup2

Welcome back, bbn :grouphug: So was it really Peej that you saw? Please tell her hi and that she is missed if you happen to be texting.

Hurray for getting your photos back, Twink!!! :jumping1:

We still need to take our tax stuff in :( I'm afraid to see how they come out.

:cool1: What a nice compliment from your son!!!

Carnival cruise lines has a good kids camp during the day and I thought their cruise was pretty child friendly.

Just passing on my "wisdom".

Anyone else watching the Academy Awards tonight?

Amy Adams is singing a nominated song from Enchanted - that one from in the park!

Bleck. Yuck. Ack.
You forgot beurk! :crazy2:

It's Dinner and Dancing...but one of us NEVER dances. He can watch my purse. But the dinner part should be lovely.
Ok. I'm confused. To me, there are four types of dancing people can "go" to to participate:
1. Ballroom
2. Country line
3. Slow/together dancing
4. rave/solo dancing

Hmm.
All of these except number 4 require a partner.
Thus, you couldn't do them alone.
So where did You go? And what kind of dancing did you do?

:wave2: Hi to Cel's mom!!!
Hi Mama Celery Stalker! :cool2:

Heh.
Thanks to moo and wendy for saying hi to the mama stalker.
She said earlier she hadn't been on since Friday.
So I called to tell her:

Me: Mom: Moo and Utah Wendy said hi to you on the disboards.
Her: I know. I just read it.

:rolleyes2

Hi, Mama Stalker!

hehehehe

So I just posted on a cruise line thread where other peaople going on the same trip are going. I think my kids will either kill me., or not care, or nothing at all will happen, LOL.
At least this time, if you get tired at a meet, it's just a short elevator ride to your room and not a 45 minute drive!

Hi to everyone else!
Glad you're safe, Babycow! My mom keeps asking where you live. And I said "Duh. Mamacan'tfindya, Indiana! So of course you won't know!"
hehehehe

So true.Cel!

It sucks getting old!

Hi to Mama Celery

I am watching the academy awards, Moo. I might watch Enchanted or ratatillie poolside
