We're taking a mega spontaneous drive 9 hours to the south west of us!!!!

Our Disneyland AP's expire next week. So park entrance is FREE this time.
Moo HOO on your trip!!!!! Sorry I missed saying bye.

rWOOHOOTY on hours spent surviving a blizzard - its 'cause you didnt dis from home isnt it? I think you should be allowed to Dis at night tho Cheryl!!
It turned out to be a really smart room not to have driven in to work Wednesday! It took our secretary 4 hours to get home that night (usually a one hour drive). Things were just too busy for me to get on the batphone last night during the meeting and I was kind of smooshed in the car. Kinda like Wendy's kids are going to me ;)

Anyway, just want to say:

HOPE YOU HAD A VERY SPECIAL BIRTHDAY, SANDY!!!!!!

birthday.jpg

PJ has been really sick with the flu. Maybe she might show up today? Ya never know what the entity known as the HotT College Chicks might do.
Awwww, sorry to hear Peej is sick. Thanks for letting us know, E!

FEEL BETTER SOON!!!!! :)

HI gave chocolate cake on the other thread. Here's a dole whip.

127278818_38cd0d7143_m.jpg

We have lots of snow here. LOTS.
Mmmmmm, Dole whip!

We have plenty of snow here too, but not quite as much as up north. Bleah! I figure it will melt again before too long.

What do you mean "may" have. The word you are looking for is "allegedly". Also, have her call me immediately. Tell her not to speak to ANYONE else, especially police officers. If questioned have her respond "I do not wish to answer any questions regarding this matter at this time. I would like to talk to my attorney. NOW. I will consider any additional attempts to solicit information as coercive in nature and an intentional act calculated to deprive me of my Constitutional right to Counsel." We can beat this. Right after she pays my retainer of course.
Moo thanks you for this useful post  Hope I never need to say this :scared:

:lmao: LOLing about your Twinkertwin story, Twink

:rotfl2: It looks like DD is going back to the camp in Michigan this summer!! How hard would it be to do a Michigan Dis Meet!! :cool1:
I'm sure that can be arranged, Sandy! Or . . . I haven't been to Chicago in eons if that doesn't pan out.

Speaking of old ladies, my brother called tonight. They found my mom on the floor in her apartment. She fell and broke her hip. (she is almost 94). So she is in the hospital now, scheduled for a hip replacement, my brother didn't know if tonight or tomorrow. It was already 11pm local time. I dont know what is going to happen in the future..... I think she may be too old to live alone anymore, and she lives on the second floor with a wickedly winding staircase, and has been complaining about trouble walking lately, so I am thinking it may be time for a home for her. But those are sooooo expensive and hard to get into. Any prayers and pixie dust are appreciated.
Oh no, Marita! Hope she is OK. My Grandma broke her hip when she was in her 90s too, but she mended pretty well. She ended up having to go into a medical care facility. They had great facilities for physical therapy there. But she also actually liked the activities (especially BINGO) and having company there.

Howdy to every else! Hope to be around a bit more this weekend.

:wave2: Hiya MOOvers! Just flying through to say hey!

Happy birthday, Sandy! Hope you had a great one. You DO realize that having a b-day on a Friday entitles you to an entire weekend of celebrations and indulgences? Now git to it! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Marita, sending prayers for your mom.

LilL, hugs and virtual chicken soup for you.

MommyP, yay on the house progress! Sending positive thoughts and prayers for your sis.

Twinkie, this is how it starts. First your child is absconding with a classmates' erasers and pencils. Flash forward 15 years and she's a founding member of the PLA (the Prairie Liberation Army), and her face is on a WANTED poster at the local post office. A slippery slope, indeed.

Off to dreamland I go! Night, y'all!

What she says!!

and MOO too!!

:rotfl2:

I got too emotional wrapped up in a discussion on the event/comp board cocerning new shirts...

and somebody 'splain to me why my own mother did NOT call me on my bday? AND .. .AND... she mailed a pkg that arrived TODAY - my BIRTHDAY - to my dd - it included 2 shirts (one a "baby phat" shirt) and a present for DH!! what am I?? oh, her DD!! :sad2:

That's my mom!!

Moo Dis meet Midwest State - what a wonderful Bday present that will be!!

Marita more :grouphug:

gotta wake up dh (he fell asleep on the chair - because he stayed up till 2am making yeast breads for my bday... and he got up at 5am to finish the breads and take dd to school... while I slept!! TILL 8AM!! now THAT's a bday present!! (and yes, he cleaned the kitchen!! and made dinner!! and cleaned the kitchen!! Poor man, )

but, he agrees with Lynette - so more BDAY tomorrow!! WOOHOOTY indeed!! :woohoo:

Sandy, I have a friend whose mom does those kinds of things to her quite often. While doting on her DD and/or her brother :sad2: Hopefully your mom will do something to redeem herself. TG your hubby was awesome today!!!

Where is your DD's music camp? Blue Lakes? Interlochen? Those are the two biggies.

The camp is in Paw Paw MI - a very small Christian camp, ironically on the same lake I was a camp counselor to in the 80's - the other side of the same lake - it was the Girl Scout Camp !!

There is so much to do in Mi tho - well it is a BIG state!! Last time I drove to my mom's lower south eastern side - and Paw Paw is WEST!! (lower (put your hand up? see the mitten? k below Lake MI and to the right a 1/4 inch is Paw Paw... from my memory!! :rotfl2: I LOVE THE MITTEN STATE!! (mom is over there by the wrist far right touching OH!)

Currently I'm trying to convince my cousin (more like my sister!) that we have to make time to do a girls only trip - so I know its easier said than done!! (I"m tempting her with tickets to WICKED in Chicago!)

Y'all are more than welcome at my parents place on the lake!! Its so peaceful, and all the watersports you can imagine - as well as a quick trip to the area's largest FLEA MARKET!!! Shipshewana!!http://www.shipshewanafleamarket.com/fleamarketmap.php

Got dd to bed - so far no nite terrors, sleep walking or talking!! woohoo
dh fast asleep, snoring like he's really tired!

my turn soon!-

GOOG MORNING!

Another beautiful day here today. I can stand the cold if it's sunny.

Here's some breakfast since PJ's sick....

quiche.jpg

Sandy....Looks like Paw Paw is just about 30 miles from South Haven. :thumbsup2

PJ.....Not the flu!? Hope you're feeling better.

Marita....That's awful about your mom! Does she live in her own home? Just has her bedroom on the second floor? Maybe you could move her to the first floor? Ooo! Maybe she'd like to live in America? She must be pretty spry if she's still living alone at 94. At any rate....prayers for a quick recovery.

Twinkie
....Too funny about the lil Twinkie. I think being a generous thief counts for something?!

MommyP....Hope there's a baby today! Let us know!

Rob, Cy, Lynette, Wendee, Pumba, Java, WT, and everybody
.....:wave2:

HAVE A WONDERFUL SATURDAY!

I have internet access at home! woo! ok. now going to catch up.

hill - congrats on being the parent of an eagle scout!!!

allie from alibama - I waved twice yesterday - once at the state line and once on that really big bridge near huntsville. didja see me and Riley?

:flower3: pj, hoping things do get better. ps, one person that was very

You are such a sweetie, lil g.

PJ I know you're sick, but be sure to read what lil g said. I hope you get to feeling better soon. Go to mamacantfindya and make the nurse take care of you.

Happy belated birthday, sandy! sounds like it was good (other than your mom)

Isaac slept from 10:45 to 6:30. :cool1:
Woo!

Scarily all I could think of that first day that it was still wet and glowing, was it looked awfully DIS(sy). :scared1:
:rotfl: You were cracking me up about the coffee from last night too. heh. You and your sister with your easy labor kill me! I hope I can be so lucky. if I ever have kids.

The Ash in Ash Wednesday does stand for ashes. The blessed palms left over from last years Palm Sunday are burned and the ashes are put on our forehead in the sign of the cross.

Cel thanks you for this useful post! I always forget about the palms from the previous year.

Hiya babycow!

Jordan - be good!
Speaking of rugrats- one twinkie twin is now available. Free to a good home. She may have liberated from a friends desk some cute lil' heart erasers and pencils meant for the class party goodie bag and passed them out to her friends on the bus. She then may have covered up the crime by saying "Austin" gave her the leftover erasers as her Valentine. She NEEDs a good lawyer. Should I be happy that she is a generous theif?:confused3 Parenting is alot harder than it looks.

Wheat Thins

I don't know if you can beat this unless of course you get her confession thrown out as she was denied counsel and my attempts to solicit information were VERY coercive in nature. You should know that the property was found in her possesion... and that she wants to pay your retainer in heart shaped erasers and bubblegum.

1. No problem.
2. No problem.
3. Big problem.

Wheat Thins
:rotfl2: You guys crack me up.
WT - what do you usually accept from 5 year old clients? She's too young to have an ACTUAL retainer - besides, her teeth might go back without it. Ha! I kill me.
twinks - as a wise woman once said. "Raising kids is like getting pecked to death by chickens."
Second, they have kegs in Utah? Or would he have to drive out of state to obtain said keg? (Honestly, not that I really need to know, but that is a somewhat serious question due to my curiosity.)

-- Rob
Sure! Kegs of o'doulls!

marita  for your mom. prayers sent all the way across the ocean.
Does anybody know if it's ok to feed dogs Orange Chicken?
Orange chicken? huh? is it a mutant?

Thanks, Lexi!
Mom lives in an apartment on the second floor (for the last 50 years), and it has a very winding staircase going up. No, I don't think she would want to live in America. She doesnt know anyone here but us, and the kids are about to move away anyway soon. But yes, she is (was) very spry, still doing a bit of bookkeeping for my brother until 2 or 3 years ago (which was checked, of course, but it gave her a sense of usefullness, but then she got tired of it.) She looks nowhere near her age and still gets her hair colored (no gray or white hair for my mom, LOL), I think a home is probably in her future. I haven't heard yet from my brother today as to how she is doing.

Thanks for the prayers and good wishes for Mom, everyone! :grouphug:

Cel, YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY for internet at home!!!!!!!!!

Sandy! Paw Paw isn't much more than an hour from me, so that would be toadily doable! PM me with the dates and I'll put it on my calendar. One of my favorite Lake Michigan beaches is the state park beach at South Haven (even though there is a nuclear power plant down the beach a ways.

Too funny about it being the same lake as your Girl Scout camp!

Last time I was in the Chicago area it was a mother/daughter trip to IKEA and Woodfield(?) Mall a few years ago before we had an IKEA here in Michigan. We are going to DD's graduation in NC in May, but I have been thinking I'd like to travel somewhere I haven't been lately this summer. I could probably talk my little sister or BFF into a late summer or fall trip to Chicagoland or southeastern Michigan.

GOOG MORNING!

Another beautiful day here today. I can stand the cold if it's sunny.

Thanks for breakfast, Lex! Quiche . . . your speciality!!!

I'm so jealous that you're seeing the :sunny: today. It's been a while since I've seen it. Looks like this snow is sticking around for a while here.

Yay, Cel, for getting your Internet back!!! :yay:

Marita and MommyP, please keep us posted on your mom and sister. Hope all goes well :goodvibes

We got another inch of snow this morning.

Sandy i remember you talking about that camp a few months ago. I have no idea where that's at, but it doesn't sound far if it's close to Moo.

DH thinks it's about 3 hours away from us.

I got the itch to clean, so I must be feeling better.

I made the switch last night, I changed our ressie from a one room at POR to 2 rooms at POP.

Good Morning everyone!!!

DW and I had a great night last night. All of the kids were out doing activities so we went out for Chinese. It was so nice to have a sit down dinner with her. It is a rare occasion since she has been in college.

My family and I lived in Manistee, Mi from 1999 - 2004. We love and miss Michigan so so much!!!

I had never hard of the "mitten" thing until we moved there. It is so funny - if you ask someone from Michigan where they live they hold up the hand and point to an area and then you know right where they are from. We lived in the upper pinky area (not the UP).

What lake is the camp on?

hill - congrats on being the parent of an eagle scout!!!

Thank you. DW & I had to threaten his life to finish up. He had completed his project over a year ago and then the car and GF thing entered in to the picture and he lost interest. He turns 18 next month so it was almost down to the wire with him. But we are proud of him.

I have one more boy in scouts. He is a Star Scout and I am sure he will be an Eagle Scout too. I am sure he will be more diligent in completing his.

Update on my mom:

Just talked to my brother and SIL. They are operating at 11am tomorrow for hip replacement. They are trying to get her blood pressure in line, and won't give her full anestesia for fear of her heart failing, but assured them she wont feel it. She is sleeping most of the time now. so I am not trying to call her now.

I totally forgot to ask yesterday how it happened, who found her, and how long she was on the floor. A friend of mom's came back to check on her because her blood pressure was so high earlier in the day, and found her about 2 hours later. This friend has been such a blessing to my mom, she has come for years now to take her out for coffee and cake and various things, and taking her to visit mom's sister (who passed away this past October). My brother said he would have stopped by later that day after work, but that would have been like 5 or 6 hours later.:scared1: Can you imagine laying on the floor for 8 hours in pain and not being able to move? And my mom has at least my brother and the friend to check on her, how many old people have nobody and are found weeks later dead? It's a scary thought.

Sorry to ramble, it's just what's on my mind right now.

OK, I absolutely HAVE to get my nails done today, YUCK!! And return the pressure cooker.

This is mom Christmas Eve 2000, at age 86

My family and I will keep your mom in our prayers!

Hi Joe, what a nice surprise to see you here!

I am afraid Wendy is long gone though...

Thank you, CY!!!!!

Mony, we're getting some light snow today. Boooooo!!! I can't tell if we had any accumulation last night.

You could probably take 94 to Paw Paw for a meet and it would be easily drivable.

Marita, glad your mom wasn't left alone a super long time after she fell. My MIL laid on the floor for several hours after a stroke until my FIL got home in the evening, so I know how distressing that can be  Hope the surgery goes well. You can count on several people praying for her.

Cy, that's cool that you lived in Michigan!!! My cousin and her hubby bought some property in Onekema, but then they ended up buying a winter place in Florida. Not sure if they'll end up building up north for a summer place. It'll probably depend on whether their house in the Lansing area sells. Our housing market is SO depressed right now. I have a coworker whose house has been on the market for over two years :scared:

Hi Marita, I am sure that its a small world being closed won't ruin Wendy's trip ;)

But she probably will be disappointed that the Jungle Cruise is closed too.

Marita, glad your Mom is getting good care now. They say that the elderly don't fall and break their hip, rather that the hip breaks and then they fall.
