I bet Lynette is watching Lost....

NAB, yes I sure did watch LOST....and you people were busy posting! It took me quite a while to get caught up this morning. Especially because I am NOT a skimmer.

Monica, to you. Can you squeeze in a catnap sometime today? Hope you're feeling better.

BBN, 26? C'mon now. Your nose is growing! But happy birthing day to you and happy birthday to Caleb! That was a cool birthing story, BTW. Brought a little tear to my eye.

Melinda, sorry about your dog. I know that it's hard, even if it was time.

Sandy, our school district has the emergency auto-call service too....so much better than having to try to catch the cancellations on TV.

Twink, perhaps you need to send DH to BBN's house for a while. She'll give him what-for...she's a bit of a ruffian, y'know.

Today is a half-day of work, then I'm going to drive DS to his very first non-family sleepover. :scared1: Do I look panicky? Cuz that's how I feel. DD has decided that in her brother's absence tonight, she and I should have a "Girl-a-palooza". (Her exact words. ) She wants to have dinner out, do some traipsing through the mall, then go home and get in our pajamas and paint our nails and watch High School Musical (again). Hoo boy. :rotfl:

Hi LilL, Marita, Moo, Pumba, Cel, Utah, WT, Cy, and anyone I inadvertently forgot. Have a great Friday!

Can I come? Huh huh can I!!!!
Only can we watch HSM2? I haven't memorized it yet!

I will ask him the opossum question, but when I tell him who asked, you know he will do one of these::rolleyes: Not that he looks at us like we are from another planet when we are all out shopping for dog food and donuts.

I think what you mean is since Caleb is super intelligent and practically a PROFESSIONAL comedian, it only makes sense that he is my clone. Right?:snooty:
I will now share a story with the group. So the other week the bbn and I are at Wal Mart buying donuts and dog food (duh). Julia and Caleb are rolling their eyes at us as we skip along, holding hands, just happy to be alive. Then, I got an idea. "Can I ride in the cart?" I asked the bbn. "Yeah, sure, why not?" she replies. Julia and Caleb both exchange glances. I think they looked a little scared, actually. Caleb turned to Julia and said "don't worry, she won't really do it." However, he was mistaken and into the cart I climbed. The 2 teenagers were mortified. But, it got better. The bbn is kind of looking at me and I can tell she has an idea in her head and she says "I'm wondering if all 3 of you could fit in that cart." :scratchin: I totally thought we could and I begged Julia and Caleb to get in with me and that's when I witnessed an eye roll that rivals mine. Yes, Caleb does look at us like we are from another planet. I realized something was a little off when the bbn and I were like "yeah, come on guys, get in!!!!" and we're supposedly the adults and the supposed children were explaining to us why it wasn't a goog idea. Is this a problem?
In conclusion, Caleb can roll his eyes but goog!! Bbn, care to share the other time he gave me the best eye roll ever?

P.j.-- hope you made it into work ok and back home ok too!! The weather is going to be messy today.
Thanks, Nab. I'm here! It was rather windy this morning and one little friend turned to me and said "Miss Lauren, is it a hurricane outside?" To which I replied "No, this is Ohio, we only have tornadoes. One should be along shortly to whisk our school away just like Dorothy's house in The Wizard of Oz." That was the reassuring, teacher-ish thing to say to the frightened 6 year old, right?

WHAT is with the kids who just wear hoodies in winter? Is warmth uncool?
We don't let them go outside at recess if they only have a hoodie. They definitely are the uniform though and half of them walk around with the hoods up like gangstas. The other night in class we read this thing and it was about how kids who wear hoods and don't take their coats off have a very fragile psyche and they're actually trying to protect themselves emotionally. Then it occured to me that I never take my coat off. Drives that bbn insane. :rolleyes1 So, maybe I'm emotionally unstable. And all along I just thought I was cold!

Now you're thinking! Cept I may have memorized parts of HSM2. Troy singing Bet on It.

I love that part! It's so Justin timberlake!!!!!!
Dangit.
Now I really want to see it again.
Ohh!! and we have to shout "There's Miley!" at the end when she makes her cameo.

(Is it any wonder that Twinkie STILL thinks I'm all of 13?)

Alright. To prove my REAL age (26, just like Babycow. Duh!), here's what I'm listening to:

All the world is waiting for you
and the power you posess
in your shiny tights
fighting for your rights!!!

Yes, I just "acquired" Television's greatest hits 70's and 80's.
You may all bow down NOW!
(Except Peej. Cuz I doubt she knows any of them. MAYBE the smurfs and muppets, but I seriously doubt it.)

Flow!

TLB vid: Until McLean Stevenson showed up, I didn't know ANY of "this week's guest stars" (although Richard Gilliland looks familiar).

First you have to learn how to spell Cincinnati. Those are the rules.
Nobody knows how to spell Cincinnati!

Snow shoveling is hard work...

not that anyone ever doubted it!!

I need to take a nap now!!

(the snow is purty tho - oh and I called our Village President to complain... "sir, I follow the rules, I do not put my driveway snow on your street, can you please make sure your Cul-de-Sac snow removal contractor does us the same curtesy? Pretty Please? " Yes, we live on the main street, but if I back out of my driveway I dont hit a curb, I hit a cul-de-sac... and we had a good 3 Feet of that snow in and around our driveway!! :scared1:

Girl-Palooza Night count me in - someplace warm would be nice - HSM ok!

was that a choice you really wanted to make?

Like Lauren Bacall, right Big L?

Yes it is!
That's not why I picked it. It's just my favorite.
But there's always a Disney connection!
True that.

was that a choice you really wanted to make?

Yes. You're not going to let me live that phrase down, now are you? It's a choice I wanted to make then and it's a choice I will want to make next time I am shopping for donuts and dog food.

:wave2: to everybody else. It's a busy day here. Caleb is 13!!!!!!! TWO teenagers in the house now. How did I get old enough to have teenagers? I'm only 26.:confused3

I can't complain though, cuz he's a great kid. I never have to tell him to do his homework, gets good grades, will babysit his little brothers in a pinch, does his chores without TOO much reminding, and he is funny in a smartypants kinda way. He's the quietest of all my kiddos, but he's such a deep thinker. When he was little, he would sit quietly while we would all be jabbering around and then come up with the most profound questions. He has always amazed me with his thought process.

AND, to top it all off, everybody says he's the spitting image of me. (poor kid)

AND when I was pregnant with him, I used to tell his lil in-utero self NOT to be born in January b/c we had too many January bday's in the family, plus purple is my favorite color and when I'm old and get a mother's ring, I want a purple stone in there. So he waited until February 1st at 8:05 a.m. Wasn't that so sweet of him?

AND when he was born, there were complications and they called in a neonatologist to attend the delivery. He came out purple and not breathing, meconium stained, cord wrapped around his neck, no heartbeat, floppy, lifeless. I remember watching that doctor and nurse working on him furiously for several minutes and the room was silent. Lemme tell you, there wasn't a dry eye in the room when he finally decided to take his first breath and SHRIEKED his arrival into the world. Of course, I was worried about any long term ramifications from all those complications, but he is A-OK in every way.

Did I ramble enough? I always get reflective on my kids bday's. Sorry. Ok, enough bragging on my first born male. Of course he's not perfect, but gosh he's close.:cloud9:

Happy Birthday Caleb!!!! Welcome to Teenagerhood!!

Sweet story BBN, glad he is doing fine! :thumbsup2 What is it with first born boys being born and not breathing? Mine was the same way. I remember the Doc rubbing him, and I was thinking, he should be cryin'. I also had long enough to think that I had gone through all that labor to deliver a stillborn. :sad1: Everything ended up fine, and he is now 6'1" and almost 15! :scared1:

Monica - It wasn't a pretty day on the scales for me either. Next week will be our week. Hope you can get some rest!

Oh, and DD went with me to work today, since they had PD and no school. Well she helped out in the toddler class (1 - 2 year olds). ONe of our teachers was absent, but she only had one student show up. So the other teacher took all the babies. She had 5 total. Well, dd helped her all day, and at the end of the day, my director paid her 5 dollars! She was soooo excited! Although, she told me on the ride home, "that was a lot of hard work!" I told her that is what it is like to be a momma. Maybe it was a little birth control? ;)

Oh, yes and my son is in the hoodie only club! Although you can get away with that down here. It doesn't stay cold for very long.

Oh and PJ, you have prolly scarred that kid for life. :rotfl2: J/K

I am sure we have hit the foot mark.....tell it to stop snowing....

Sandy -- we have shoveled twice. Next time the snowblower is coming out for the end of the driveway. The plow has come twice. I love to shovel and it is great exercise but I am done.

P.J.-- I am glad you made it safe. I am also glad we don't have the wind to go with this snow....

Nicholas is only 10 and he would love to just wear a hoodie. I am a mean mom and make him wear his coat. But Hannah has told me he doesn't sometimes at recess. I guess being cold is cool....:lmao:

Emily and I love a goog Girl-pa-looza night! When there are no boys and no big sisters, we rent a PG-13 movie and eat California rolls. Then make cookies. Have fun Lynette & Natasha!

Hoodie only club....yep. That too. I can barely get a hoodie on him although I try to get him to put a down vest over the hoodie. NOPE! He also prefers Crocs w/out socks year round. You'll never catch the kid with a shirt on in the summer time. I don't get it. I'm always freezing. ((High five, Lynette))

NAB...They don't take the kids outside for recess when it's below freezing. :confused3 Maybe because all the boys are in hoodies only?

I'm jealous of the snow, people! There is a dome over our town that prevents the snow from ever hitting the ground. I'm sure of it. We get nothing but 30s and rain. :sad2:

Seize y'all later. I'm headed to the neighbors house for drinks, snacks, and chat. It's the only thing that prevents me from jumping off a bridge when it's so cold and gray in the winter.

Wait, you got samples, Melinda? Where? Hook a girl up!
