I forgot earlier! Warning cute kid story ahead:

One of my girls was reading the calendar today and was counting the days until Saint Patrick's Day. Then she looked at me and said

"What did Patrick do to get his own holiday?"

I started to think how I was going to explain this and said "Well he was a very good man"

She interrupted with " A man?!? I thought it was Patrick from SpongeBob."

:rotfl:

Twinkie-- aww what a cute story.

The kids are home today so I got to sleep in until 9:00. It was heaven.Came down to a tent made in the living room but it keep them quiet for hours. Even made their own breakfast of Pop tarts. :thumbsup2 Now one is out making a fort in the snow and the other one is playing so nice with her doll house. It is the calm before the storm I'm sure.

The skies are cloudy but no snow yet....

P.J.-- hope you make it home before the snow too. I hate driving in the white stuff too.

Lexi-- sounds like you had a good time last night. :lmao: Hope your feeling much better then this morning.

Monica, Wendy, and Lynette were discussing threesomes which caused Rob to show up. PJ called him out on the carpet for his impeccable timing.

PJ: I would like to thank you for posting pancakes.
You mean I called him out to the naughty mat, right?

Oh, do you like pancakes? I never knew it.

Hope you get to come home early today, LilL. I don't mind driving in the snow, but after our big December 13th storm, I'm always a scoche fearful that my 40 minute commute will turn into a 5 HOUR commute again. :sad2:
Well, we didn't get out early but I got out early because have I mentioned I love my cooperating teacher!!!! She let me leave. Our principal was on the phone with the head of Cincinnati Public School District all morning begging him to let just our school dismiss. Nope, nothing. He wouldn't allow it. Only 18 of our 24 kids came in and by the time my teacher told me to leave at 12:15 we only had nine left. I bet I could tell you exactly which kids will still be there at the end of the day. The kids whose parents bring them regardless of whether the school is open or closed! :sad2:

 Please tell me you explained yellow snow first - then moved on to snow cream? Cuz the way you typed that was very confusing. I bet he had to call a DIFFERENT friend after he got off the phone with you!

Peej - I want whipped cream and cherries on my pancakes. No syrup.
Unless there is sausage. Cuz then I need to dip my sausage in the syrup.
What??? Something I said confused you??? Imagine that, I thought I made sense at all times!!
Syrup makes my stomach turn. Hate it.

Okay, this made me actually laugh out loud. LOVE IT! I'd say that Spongebob Patrick is saint-worthy too.

My 20 minute drive home took an hour and a half. No exaggeration. I got a lil bored! But now I'm home. We have about 4 inches so far, supposed to get about a foot.

Dr. Phil is disturbing today. :scared:

Lex, hope you're feeling hunky dorey by now! ;) Prayers sent for your traveling kids. My DD did several of those trips and we always worried until we heard they made their destination safely.

Cute Twinker princess: story, Twink!!!

Peej, sorry about your long drive home. Hope you have a relaxing or productive evening, whichever you need most :dance3: If I didn't have leftovers to eat, pancakes sure would have been yummy tonight.

Nabbie :yay: Yay for sleeping in on a week day! :thumbsup2

Nice recap, bbn!!!

Hiya, Cel! And Lynette. And Uma. And Mony. And Marita. And Rob. I think that's all the recent posters. And everyone else I didn't shout out to!

So I put on my old bathing suit tonight and modeled for my daughter. I asked how it looked, do I need a new one?

She said, no, it's FINE. All the elastic still works and I havent expanded too much. SO YAY!

Have to go shorts and sandal shopping tomorrow, and start packing and cover gray hairs and I am sure lots of other things.

DD sent hubby and I an email today, saying her BF's parents are hosting a lunch for graduation in May and we are invited (I am sure on our own dime, I wouldn't have it any other way). DD and her BF graduate the same day at the same time. Of course we will go, we would have gone out to lunch somewhere anyway. So this will be the second meeting will potential future in-laws.
I asked her if it was serious with he BF, and she said, what do you think? I am going to Europe with him and his parents for 3 weeks, duh!
I asked if they talked about marriage, she said no. They both are planning on masters degrees and might be in different town for a couple of years, so it remains to be seen.

Good evening, ladies (and any lurking gents).

Marita, YAY on the swimsuit victory! And, just for you, a big ol' w00t for not having to go swimsuit shopping!

MOO, I have a question for you. Did you get your puppies from PetFinder? Or was that just a delusion I had? I ask because, at long last, DH drank the Kool-Aid and said yes to getting a puppy! I haven't told Boris and Natasha yet, since we haven't even started looking at this point. Plus, I want to wait a few weeks so that the weather will be more conducive to a puppy going outdoors to play and be trained.

My brother actually got a dog from PetFinder a few weeks ago (a beautiful English bulldog puppy), but I don't exactly trust him as a reliable source of info, so I thought I'd ask here. Any thoughts, kudos, cautionary tales, about PetFinder would be appreciated.

Now that is as cute as all get out!

We're having a Sponge Bob birthday party tomorrow for Riley-Bear! It's the "friend party". Pizza and cupcakes one and all. I'm making (from a box) lemon cupcakes and chocolate ones. My house smells like heaven!

You're all invited, of course!

Oh and it's "Down and Derby" central at our house. OMGosh. They're at the sanding stage. You should see the chaos!

Marita! I've never seen her before. What a beauty!

Masters Degree too? Between your son and her, you should be very proud!

Thank you Wendy, I am!

Except when she gets *****y!

Sounds like lots of chaos and fun at the Utahmama house!

Marita, it sounds like that will be a nice graduation lunch! It should set your and your hubby's minds at ease to get to know her boyfriend and his family a bit better before they go traveling together.

We totally went along with my DD's plans on graduation day for a picnic at the arboretum even though it was quite chilly here in early May  She was happy that we did. It should be interesting to see what plans she has for her Master's degree graduation - we'll probably roast in NC :lmao:

Lynette, yes, we did go through petfinders.com to find our puppies. A LOT of animal shelters and rescue organizations list their adoptable animals there. Since it was a rescue organization run by volunteers, we didn't hear back after out initial inquiry, but they did reply after our second e-mail. We found out that it actually would have been easier to just go to their Saturday adopt-a-pet clinic at PetSuppliesPlus. I ended up going to that to see the puppies and there were several people interested in them, but because we had applied on-line, we had first dibs. BUT I had to make an immediate decision that day to take them home for a trial (which I highly recommend) or they would have gone to the next people in line.

The rescue organization was in the Detroit area, so it was a ways to drive. I learned that some rescue organizations are persnickety about certain pets going to homes with children and out-of-state adoptions.

All in all, it was a pretty good experience. I think a lot of animals that might have been listed in the newspaper in the past are now taken to shelters or rescue organizations as they have a higher success rate of adoption.

DD found her puppy through Craig'sList, but I feel like going through petfinders might have a better chance of getting a puppy that has been vet checked and had some shots, etc.

Good luck! You are probably already doing some research to see what breed(s) might be best suited for your family. After having had larger, high-shedding dogs in the past, we are pretty happy to have smaller, lower-shedding dogs this time around!

Thanks for the info, Moo.

I am actually leaning strongly toward a cocker spaniel. I had one for 15 years...the best dog I've ever had! He was a great size, didn't shed much, didn't bother my allergies, and was amazing with the kids. We had to have him put down almost 4 years ago, and the kids STILL get teary eyed when they talk about him. One major drawback with that breed is the grooming expense.

I'll keep you posted on my puppy progress........

Peej, sorry about your long drive home. Hope you have a relaxing or productive evening, whichever you need most :dance3: If I didn't have leftovers to eat, pancakes sure would have been yummy tonight.
My evening was both productive AND relaxing, it was AWESOME!!! I got some of the paper done and then my friends and I all went walking in the snow. We have maybe about 6 inches and it's still coming down hard. We walked right down the middle of the road. The plows hadn't come yet and you couldn't even see where the road was. It was sooooo pretty. There may have been skipping, hand-holding, and cartwheeling involved too. And a bit of silly girl singing. :rolleyes1 After that there was sledding so now we're all vegging on our laptops thawing out a bit!

I ask because, at long last, DH drank the Kool-Aid and said yes to getting a puppy!
Well that was fast! Wasn't that just last Friday you and I were talking about how you didn't think you would be able to convince him to get a dog? :rotfl:

Marita....woot on the no swimsuit shopping! I can't believe it's getting so close to time for you to go!

My little sister just called me crying. Her bff got a speeding ticket while she was in the car with her so now both girls will not be allowed to go on Spring Break together. :guilty: I feel really bad for her. Seems a bit harsh on the part of the parents if you ask me.

Well that was fast! Wasn't that just last Friday you and I were talking about how you didn't think you would be able to convince him to get a dog? :rotfl:

Heh. I guess Lalijack = persuasive, eh?

Now I have to work on the other thing................

Howdy Mooovers!

Am I missing something Lynette? Why can't you just pick up a pup (or chick or kid -- i.e., goat baby, not human child -- or calf or piglet or lamb) while you're at the Crazynurse Ranch? No cockers there?

Wendee!!! We're having DS6's (James's) birthday party here tomorrow, so I guess our youngest BOYS are about a year apart (I have no sweet little Norah at my house). Ours is the "family" one and we're doing the pizza thing but I'm not sure about what form of cake. My house smells, um, neutral.

GOOG MORNING!

Thank you for the kind words. My head is feeling perfectly normal today but frankly I deserved what I got yesterday. That'll teach me.

We have what is probably the biggest snow of the year on the ground this morning. (although probably not as much as PJ) It rained, sleeted, froze, and then snowed on top of it. It's supposed to snow more today. And it is really pretty right now. I predict piles of wet clothes by the front door before noon today.

Our college students did NOT leave yesterday. They had a little slumber party in the Fellowship Hall at church last night. I ordered food, changed hotel reservations, bought snacks for the bus, etc. They are leaving at 10am today. The storm warnings will have expired in Nashville and Memphis and hopefully the interstate will be clear. They are on their way to the Dallas area where is will be 65 tomorrow! Thanks so much for your prayers.

Lynette....Just as I am basking the the glow of NOT having a dog, you're going out to get one! Good luck!

Marita....Your daughter is beautiful and the boyfriend's not bad either! Are his parents going on the trip to Europe too or just DD and BF? Glad the suit still works! That's one less thing to work about. I wish I was shopping for short and sandals today. :upsidedow Should I call nebo & smidgy? I'm getting worried.

Wendee....Have fun at the Spongebob party! Are you making some sort of Spongebob *cake* out of the lemon and chocolate cupcakes??? Take a picture!

Twinkie
....St. Patrick Star Day?! :lmao:

Celery, Moo, RobIn, everybody
............:wave2:

HAVE A GREAT DAY!
