Moose & Goose- The 5th anniversary is the Dis Trip Anniversary- Baby Update #2 5/1

So, we leave- to drive down (keep this in mind)- 8 days from today and we will check in to POR in 9 DAYS FROM NOW! :cool1::cool1::cool1::dance3: So everyone with me.... SINGLE DIGIT DANCE! Can't wait to actually start writing my REAL TR!

But until then... we continue on with the Moose & Goose PTR.

So... as usual, I got my pre-vacation haircut. I always like to get my haircut a week or so before we go on vacation... because it's usually going to be hot and I usually have long hair. Long hair + hot temperatures + too excited to get to the park to do anything with my hair = nasty, sweaty, long gross hair. :sad2:

My cousin is my hairstylist (she actually did my hair for my wedding... and was one of my bridesmaids)... and her shop is about a half an hour away from where I live.... if you go right there.... and don't get lost.

However... I am terrible and turned onto the wrong road. :headache: So, I was about 20 minutes late because I got lost.... event though I've been there twice before.

However, my aunt was right after me... and it runs in the family because she was late for her appointment too... so we had plenty of time for my haircut.

Honestly, my dad is always late too... any time you want one of my family members somewhere, it's just a good idea to tell them the event (or appointment) is 15 to 30 minutes BEFORE it actually happens too so that we're on time.

So... yeah... let's just all hope that I don't get lost on the way to Disney World. Because that would be REALLY bad! I'm supposed to take the first driving shift. Indianapolis to at least Tennessee somewhere.

Anyway- do you wanna see my new cut? It's pretty drastic... it's shorter than I wanted... and not the style I wanted... but it's just hair and it will grow back and we can try again. It's not.... :scared:... terrible... it's just not what I had wanted.

So, here is the before picture where I look terrible... please ignore the no make up and double chin from the "selfie":

and here is the... after... that is way too short.... and also not a good picture of me. And this is actually before I had my eyebrows waxed too... but that's a little harder to tell.

Either way... this means that IT'S ALMOST TIME FOR VACATION. :beach: So, vacation haircut is done... I just need to go get me some new vacation shorts and a back up pair of shoes.

I've finished most of the laundry. I've got a handful of things to pick up from the sore... and my favorite piece of information:
I DID EARLY CHECK IN TODAY for POR... can't check in early for WL until Monday.
So excited! HOWEVER I had an issue with my check in. ....sigh....

I was able to do the early check in for POR... however when I went to do the online check in, it wouldn't accept my room request-- close to transportation. Because we've never stayed at or even been to POR before we don't know our way around the grounds so we thought it would be good to request close to transportation so that we wouldn't get lost going to/from the room to the bus stop. Anyway... I called Disney and they said because we had a travel agent book the vacation, the agent had to make the room request. I thought this was odd.... but I e-mailed the travel agent and they said they would do that for me... and hopefully they will honor our request. However, I don't think we'll know for sure until we get there... will we? We've never been on a vacation that we went by ourselves- so I've never had to deal with any of this before... My husband even took care of our honeymoon... and I don't remember how he booked it.
Either way, early check in is done. Very excited!

I don't know when my next update will be, but it will be before we leave next week.
Thanks for reading along. See ya real soon!

So, we leave- to drive down (keep this in mind)- 8 days from today and we will check in to POR in 9 DAYS FROM NOW! :cool1::cool1::cool1::dance3: So everyone with me.... SINGLE DIGIT DANCE!

Here's a Woot! for ya.
Although I chuckled a little bit when you mentioned your first day of driving.
It's our third day of driving when we do that part. :rotfl:

My cousin is my hairstylist

That's convenient. Was she your cousin first? Or your hairstylist that you then adopted for the convenience?

Anyway- do you wanna see my new cut? It's pretty drastic... it's shorter than I wanted... and not the style I wanted... but it's just hair and it will grow back and we can try again. It's not.... :scared:... terrible... it's just not what I had wanted.

Well. Speaking as a guy who normally likes long hair.... You look pretty darn good with short hair!

Either way... this means that IT'S ALMOST TIME FOR VACATION. :beach: So, vacation haircut is done... I just need to go get me some new vacation shorts and a back up pair of shoes.

Oooohhhh. Now I finally get it. All those cop shows. "Wait for back-up."

They meant shoes!

Because we've never stayed at or even been to POR before we don't know our way around the grounds so we thought it would be good to request close to transportation so that we wouldn't get lost going to/from the room to the bus stop.

POR is a big resort... and so they have several bus stops. Not to worry, you'll find one that's fairly close.

Here's a map:
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/port-riverside.htm

Might I suggest you have your agent ask for buildings 14, 15 or 18 in Bayou or if you prefer Mansions (like we did) ask for Magnolia Terrace (#85).

Congratulations on reaching single digits! I just found your TR and am looking forward to following along.

In response to your question about what to take along for a long :car: trip I would suggest:

- Pillows (two are great so that you can use one for your head and one to hold a book if you can/like to read in the car)
- Warm, fuzzy throw
- Lifesavers (great for a "pick me up" while driving)
- Water (soft drinks get old after a while)
- Trail Mix
- A good road atlas (GPS is fine but I love maps)

I hope you have a wonderful trip. I look forward to hearing about your adventures!

Cute haircut! :)
thanks! Glad you're here to follow along!

Thanks for the tips Daniel's mom! Glad you're here to join along! Can't wait to start the actual trip.

I like the short hair Rebecca!

I usually do the same thing....cut my hair for ease of pre-park morning routine. I sometimes just put on a hat as well. I minimize everything I can!

I can't believe your trip is almost here! :goodvibes

Love the haircut. Very flattering. You have a great color hair and it would look fantastic with highlights.

You must be so excited that you trip is only 6 days away? That awesome. I am sure you have the pre-trip jitters. It will be here before you know it! :cool1:

Yes... our Mouse World Travel agent sent us this HUGE folder full of stuff in the mail yesterday... I spent nearly an hour this morning going through it all. VERY exciting that it's so close... but then, the end is so close too.... le sigh.
I keep saying a week from now we'll be in Disney deciding what to do for dinner.
And then he responds with two weeks from now we'll be at work wishing we were back in Disney.
He's so helpful. :guilty: Going to give me the back-from-Disney blues before we even get there!:sad2:

HOWEVER... My aunt's birthday was on Thursday and she wanted to go shopping with all of the girls on my mom's side of the family for her birthday. So, we all met up near Indy and went shopping. We had lunch at the Claddagh Irish Pub, where my mom and I split an order of loaded potato wedges and we each got a salad. Then- my mom bought me a new pair of shoes, a new top and jeans, a dress for the wedding on the day we get back from Disney...
AND My FAVORITE thing... She got me 3 headbands with these HUGE bows on them that are covered in sparkles! I'm TOTALLY wearing them to Disney! Each headband has a bow.. each bow is about a big as my hand (both in length and width)... a silver, a black and a pink. (I don't have any pictures of them, but I know they will pop up in one of our trip pictures) I've got a black Mickey shirt that will be perfect with the black bow... I really can't wait to wear them.
I wore one home from our shopping spree and my husband said I was "adorkable". How sweet... can't you feel the love?

The husband and I both have "new vacation" shoes... I got mine yesterday and went on a mile and a half walk with my fur baby this morning to break them in.

That reminds me... I haven't introduced you all to Goalie... our dog have I? He's my widdle angel baby.:littleangel: This is NOT photoshopped (I don't have photoshop.... unlike certain Dizers I know...)

This is Goalie. He's a Beagle/Dachshund mix. He will be 4 in November.
Here's another picture of him, from when we came home on our last trip.

Since we don't have any kids (YET)... he's is our "fur baby" as they call them now.
We discovered he loves popcorn, so one of his souvenirs will be popcorn from Disney World. Yes, I bring my doggy baby souvenirs... I don't care- judge me. He's still getting Disney popcorn!
Anyway- we've got most of what we need for Disney- we've got all the important stuff printed off- I just have to remember to pack it. :headache:
And then on my "weekend" Wednesday/Thursday I have just little things to buy... allergy meds, moleskin... and I need to find our ponchos... no idea where they are.
Plan is to pack on Thursday and then when I get home around 1 on Friday I'll pack up the car and we can leave when the husband gets home.
We leave in 4 1/2 days! And we will BE there in 5 days! We'll probably be checking in right about now on Saturday! HURRAY!:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:
I AM taking orders- since we are driving... if you would like "Mickey" to send your child a postcard or if there's something small you'd like me to get and send to you when we get back, let me know.
I'll see what I can do.
See ya real soon!:wizard:

woot!

but then, the end is so close too.... le sigh.

Hey! Hey! Hey!
Let's not end the trip before we even take it now, okay?

And why am I saying "we"?

Whoa.... Maybe I'm going with you and didn't even know it?
Am I invited????

I keep saying a week from now we'll be in Disney deciding what to do for dinner.
And then he responds with two weeks from now we'll be at work wishing we were back in Disney.
He's so helpful. :guilty: Going to give me the back-from-Disney blues before we even get there!:sad2:

There ya go. I'd never say that. Ditch him and give me the ticket.

sounds fair to me, anyway...

Although your DH might have a thing or two to say about that....

HOWEVER... My aunt's birthday was on Thursday and she wanted to go shopping with all of the girls on my mom's side of the family for her birthday.
...
Then- my mom bought me a new pair of shoes, a new top and jeans, a dress for the wedding on the day we get back from Disney...

So it's your aunt's birthday and you make out like a bandit?

sweet deal. :thumbsup2

She got me 3 headbands with these HUGE bows on them that are covered in sparkles! ... (I don't have any pictures of them, but I know they will pop up in one of our trip pictures)

We're gonna hold ya to that.

I wore one home from our shopping spree and my husband said I was "adorkable". How sweet... can't you feel the love?

Unfortunately... yes.

Guess that means he goes and I don't. :guilty:

:lmao:

That reminds me... I haven't introduced you all to Goalie... our dog have I? He's my widdle angel baby.:littleangel: This is NOT photoshopped (I don't have photoshop.... unlike certain Dizers I know...)

Cute pup.... but do I have to say "widdle angel baby"?

Since we don't have any kids (YET)... he's is our "fur baby" as they call them now.

We have kids now, but.... been there, done that!

Yes, I bring my doggy baby souvenirs... I don't care- judge me.

Nope. Not me. While we don't bring Piper souvies, we often think, "Why didn't we bring Piper? Look at all the dogs around here!"

I have just little things to buy... allergy meds, moleskin...

Don't forget the Bodyglide.

See ya real soon!:wizard:

Sounds good!

That is so nice that your are taking "orders" for your Disney trip! Postcards from Mickey always warm the heart of a child.

Your fur babies are adorable. I'm sure you are going to miss them.

Darn your DH for trying to give you the post Disney blues. As long as your start your TR right after you get home you will definitely not get the blues!

OK. Sorry for being absent, rough week last week, won't go into it, but I'm now playing catch up...:coffee: I'll try to make this quick and painless...

So, yesterday my husband texted me around 11 a.m. yesterday. He said "you know... we could probably add another day AT THE END OF OUR TRIP!"
Before he even texted me again to ask what I thought, I was writing to our travel agent to see if that was do-able.
So, we are now staying Sat-Thurs nights and we have tickets to the park for Sun-Thursday, all parkhoppers.
I decided to see if we could split the stay... since we are are staying at POR we didn't think we could extend our stay in the same room for another night... so, we are going to move to WL for Wednesday & Thursday- woods view. :dance3:
SUPER excited! WL is my husband's favorite resort (and only one we've ever stayed at)... so I thought it would be a nice way to end our trip... to go back to his favorite resort.
That's it for changes so far.

That is awesome! Sounds like something T-Man would do...although, he would be the one to propose the extra day and then go about making the arrangements. I'm just the nodder...::yes::

So, when we go to Disney, we always try to something in the weeks leading up to it to get us ready for all the walking we'll be doing in Disney.

We do the same thing. I've been walking about 3 miles a day recently during my lunch hour, not just to get ready for the upcoming trip we have in October, but because I'm determined to lose weight before I am asked to become a sit in for the abominable snowman or worse, Winnie the Pooh at Disney...(No offense to Winnie!)

Holiday World is in Santa Claus, Indiana... Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus, Indiana. And they take "Santa Claus" very seriously... there are pictures, statues and people dressed as Santa everywhere in the city.

That sounds like an interesting place. I know there is a North Pole in Colorado somewhere...which I have never been, but hear it's a great place to take your kids if you have any. Had no idea there was also a Santa Clause, Indiana. I learn something new everyday. :goodvibes

However, we stayed in the amusement park. We got there around 1 p.m. There was no wait for anything basically. The longest wait we had was 15 minutes for the last wooden roller coaster we went on... The Legend.
It's the longest and tallest wooden roller coaster there.

Taken from their website: "The Voyage is an air-time machine, with riders experiencing a feeling of weightlessness for a total of 24.3 seconds," says Holiday World's president, Matt Eckert. "We take the traditional out-and-back layout to the extreme, with one of the steepest drops on any wooden coaster in the world. The Voyage is 1.2 miles long, placing it among the planet's top three longest and fastest wooden coasters." The Voyage also has three sections of extreme, 90-degree banking." "Most dramatic drops on The Voyage measure 154 feet (66-degree angle of descent), 107 feet (51-degree angle), and 100 feet (50.5-degree angle)."

I do not think it is wise to let T-Man read this...Next thing i know we will be headed on a trip to Indiana, just to ride this...:scared:

(For those of you paying attention, yes I am wearing the exact same outfit in this picture as I am in the intro! Only difference is the purse... and my hair has grown about 6 inches since our 2010 trip.)

Very cute, and nostalgic for your upcoming trip :thumbsup2

So first off... somebody has to help out Bunny Boy. Might as well be me.

Works for me. I helped enough on our TR, I need a break. :rotfl:

Sounds like fun. We should take Mrs. T on it. I hear she enjoys a good coaster now and then.

Or something like that.

Dumb wife, Dumb wife, Dumb wife, Dumb wife.

So everyone with me.... SINGLE DIGIT DANCE! Can't wait to actually start writing my REAL TR!

Will this work?

So... as usual, I got my pre-vacation haircut. I always like to get my haircut a week or so before we go on vacation... because it's usually going to be hot and I usually have long hair. Long hair + hot temperatures + too excited to get to the park to do anything with my hair = nasty, sweaty, long gross hair. :sad2:

I usually do this too, to the dismay of T-Man of course. Lately, since i've dyed my hair red, it's been the required "re-dye my hair before we leave." I've been trying to grow it out, and unfortunately with the heat and humidity it's left me a little frazzled, frizzled (if that is a word...).

Honestly, my dad is always late too... any time you want one of my family members somewhere, it's just a good idea to tell them the event (or appointment) is 15 to 30 minutes BEFORE it actually happens too so that we're on time.

We were just talking about family members and their versions of time the other day, and how we were worried that my DMIL would be late to our wedding since she is usually always about an hour late to everything. We were tempted to make an special invitation just for her, with the time on the invitation stating an hour earlier...luckily for this occasion, she was on time!

So... yeah... let's just all hope that I don't get lost on the way to Disney World. Because that would be REALLY bad! I'm supposed to take the first driving shift. Indianapolis to at least Tennessee somewhere.

I'm sure you will be fine. If you take a wrong turn, just think of it as an adventure...then haul it the rest of the way to make your reservation! :rotfl2:

I don't have this problem...T-Man does all the driving, whether I ask to help out or not. Therefore I take a nap.

So, here is the before picture where I look terrible... please ignore the no make up and double chin from the "selfie":

and here is the... after... that is way too short.... and also not a good picture of me. And this is actually before I had my eyebrows waxed too... but that's a little harder to tell.

You look great in both pics! I love the new style. It will take some getting used to, but that's why you do it early. If nothing else it will grow out a little, and gives you the chance to grow used to it.

I keep saying a week from now we'll be in Disney deciding what to do for dinner.
And then he responds with two weeks from now we'll be at work wishing we were back in Disney.
He's so helpful. :guilty: Going to give me the back-from-Disney blues before we even get there!:sad2:

Big ball of sunshine isn't he? :rotfl:

Then- my mom bought me a new pair of shoes, a new top and jeans, a dress for the wedding on the day we get back from Disney...
AND My FAVORITE thing... She got me 3 headbands with these HUGE bows on them that are covered in sparkles! I'm TOTALLY wearing them to Disney! (I don't have any pictures of them, but I know they will pop up in one of our trip pictures) I've got a black Mickey shirt that will be perfect with the black bow... I really can't wait to wear them.

So it's your aunt's birthday and you make out like a bandit?

sweet deal. :thumbsup2

:lmao: I cracked up on this one...My aunts and uncle (who practically raised me when I was younger) always bring me a gift when it's one of their birthdays. If they call to say they are coming over to drop something off, T-Man always asks "who's birthday is it." It stems from when i was younger and didn't understand the concept of the birthday girl/boy being the only ones to get gifts...Anway...I'm glad I am not the only one :goodvibes

I wore one home from our shopping spree and my husband said I was "adorkable". How sweet... can't you feel the love?

:rotfl2: I have to admit that it's a cute statement, and I'm beginning to think we will see more statements like this from him as the TR truly begins after your trip.

We leave in 4 1/2 days! And we will BE there in 5 days! We'll probably be checking in right about now on Saturday! HURRAY!

I AM taking orders- since we are driving... if you would like "Mickey" to send your child a postcard or if there's something small you'd like me to get and send to you when we get back, let me know.
I'll see what I can do.
See ya real soon!:wizard:

Excited for you. I can only imagine how slow time is probably going this week knowing it's so close!

I don't have children...and I don't have anything in particular I need or want, but if you have an extra stamp lying around...I wouldn't mind a postcard :upsidedow

So, we leave TOMORROW! I don't know that I'll be updating anymore before I leave. I still need to do a few errands today.... and do about 15 load of laundry and a load of dishes.... and probably clean some more.
I don't want my poor brother (who is houses sitting while we're gone) to be grossed out by my house.... So, cleaning it is.

One little story to share with you before I go. We are going on this trip for "Moose & Goose's 5th wedding anniversary". So, I already started the anniversary stuff. As I've previously said, the DH is a fan of the Beach Boys. I thought that since we were going to Florida, it'd be nice to listen to a Beach Boys cd on the way down there. So, I got their 50th reunion cd... holy cow... they've been around for 50 years!

Also, I went to the library and picked up some things to listen to in the car. We got a book on tape: Richard Castle's Heat Wave. (We LOVE Castle on Monday nights on ABC!)

And I also got three cd's of comedians. I got Bill Engvall's "here's your sign", Jimmy Falons' "Exploding pants" (I think that's what it's called anyway)... and Mitch Hedberg's "All Mitch". The DH really likes Mitch Hedberg... his bit I like the most is the "club sandwhich".... if you've never heard it, it's clean and funny. Look it up on youtube or something... most of his stuff is NOT that clean...but that bit is.

So, I've got enough stuff to last us about 10 or 11 hours.... the book on cd is 6.5 hours, plus the 3 cds should end up being about an hour each... except for the Beach Boys cd which is a double disk set. So, I'm hoping that will get us through most of the ride.

Anyway... can't wait to come back and tell you all the magic that happened do us. pixiedust:

Take care everyone... and someone tell Nebo to get better by next Sunday when I get back!
:grouphug:
See ya real soon! :wave2:

tomorrow!? oh boy oh boy!!!:cool1::dance3::cheer2:

have tons of fun.. I gave Nebo your message. I think he grunted.:rotfl: kidding. he says to have fun.

you sure have enough stuff to keep you occupied on the drive! a little bit more and you won't have to talk to each other at all! nyuk nyuk

Have a great trip!

I love listening to audio books while I drive too. Although I don't unless I'm alone.

I love the "here's your sign" bit. I'll have to check YouTube for the others.

I'm sure you're probably already on the road.

Have a wonderful trip. Can't wait to hear about it when you get back.

I'm leaving work in about 8 minutes :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: (but whose counting)?!
Then I'll go fill up the car with gas, go home and pack up and when Moose gets home (around 3:30), WE START THE MOOSE & GOOSE 5TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY TRIP!
CAN'T wait to start the trip... and then sad but happy to start my TR! Sad because that means it's over, happy because that means it happened, we survived and I get to relive it all over again. :cheer2:
Take care all!
As Nebo would say....
ANnnnnnddddd....... we're off! :moped:

I am typing this on the balcony of our room at Wilderness Lodge... watching Wishes... sadly we leave tomorrow to come home back to the real world. We have had a great trip and even got to do somethings I never thought I would get to do. But I'll tell you all about that on Sunday when I actually get back and hopefully started on my trip report.
