I have a sun and moon app on my iPhone and for my location (southcentral PA) it gives the actual full moon occuring on Jan 30 at 1:18am. Tonights moon should prove to be a great photo opp however because it will rise about 5pm (again my time and location), just before sunset. If you are lucky enough to have clear skies, the setting of the sun and rising of the moon at about the same time should give some locations a spectacular moon. I wish I could be around to take a few shots but I will be working at auction at that time. I might have to give it a try tomorrow night if its not too cloudy but the moon rise will be about an hour and half later well past sunset.

A full moon is the worst time to photograph it (without filters). It's just too bright. A crescent is more photogenic, you'll see more detail of the craters with the sun and a sharper angle to them.

Great photo, Jeff! That railroad crossing looks familiar from some of your other photos. ;)

As for Reuters, I question one of their statements that this full moon is brighter than any others. As I recall a reflecting object's brightness (and the moon is a reflector) is determined by it's distance from the light source, not by it's distance from the camera. Even though this full moon may be a few thousand miles closer to the sun that is insignificant compared to the 93 million mile average distance.
Larger, yes, brighter, no.

And it's raining here so it doesn't matter anyway. :(
