"It is always good to learn the art of basic conversation, whether it be about the weather, popular sports like frisbee or fetch, the latest in collar styles or the fine art of digging a hole in the backyard. This will help you to make small talk at parties and obedience school and makes it much easier to make friends.

Gossip should be avoided, however. Whatever you think of the Poodle whose human makes him wear pink ribbons in his ears, or the Chihuahua who keeps saying he could "take on" the Rottie down the street, hold your tongue and keep it to yourself. You never know who you may be offending.

It is best to keep the conversation easygoing and lighthearted..."

Yes, I definitely agree. I've always kind of thought of myself as a little bit socially unskilled, but apparantly I'm a lot better than some people on the net!

Tell Monty the last time I saw my 16 year old neighbor walking his Aunt's poodle with pink ribbons in her hair, I went out and cut them out. His Aunt was so MAD, I told her to call me. No self respecting teen boy should be forced to walk a poodle with pink ribbons.

Lol! When I was in high school, I had a bf who had a standard poodle and his mom used to put barrettes in it's hair (if I recall correctly, the dog was a male) and she would get SO mad if he took the barrettes out...
