Anyone have advice on long term car rentals? January 11th to Feb 8th are our dates. We are trying to weigh out which will be more beneficial. My in-laws are headed to FL and are flying. Now to figure out if my hubby will be putting 24 hours in behind the wheel both ways to bring them their jeep and fly back and forth or if we can ship or rent for them cheaper. Any experience? We are in New Hampshire.

Thanks for the great DIS help!

There are companies that hire people to bring cars to FL. I have no idea of any names but they exsist. Basiscally how it works is the company checks out people and provides them with basic expenses to drive the car south.

You could also possibly investigate putting it on the autotrain or just use a shipping company.

There are monthly rental specials on many of the car rental sites. Look around and see what kind of $ you can come up with. It seems like a R/T drive plus R/T plane ticket would be more costly. Jan and Feb drives can be really nasty too if the weather doesn't cooperate. One nor'easter can create havoc.

We have looked at the car transfer things for a friend's parents, and it is pretty pricey, especially since your's are only going for a month and not a whole winter.

auto train? you wont put all those miles going to fl on your car but at least you will have your car
