Monte Cristo

I still can't understand how Disney can run one of the best parks on the planet yet still have such atrocious food. Why don't they upgrade it or bring in outside conractors like In&Out Burger and the like?

i wish they had Monte Cristos at WDW, it is the one item they are missing to make it the best place on Earth:thumbsup2

I've always heard from numerous people BB & CO share a kitchen. :confused3

Misinformation. They share a prep kitchen, but the Monte Cristos (and most of the other food) are cooked in the kitchen for the location. I've been in the kitchens of both, so I'm not guessing.

Thanks for the info.

Just had the MC for the 1st time at CO today- heard such great things on the boards and couldn't wait to try it. Hubby liked it. I had one wedge and didn't need anymore. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't anything I plan on going back for. Maybe my hopes were set too high? I found it very greasy and heavy. The pomme frites, on the other hand, were yummy!

I wish for everyone to have a better-tastier monte cristo experience than my last one.

This was taken at BB last october. Back then, it was delicious!!!

I wasn't gonna have a Monte Cristo but decided to take one for the team. Nothing wrong with mine. Same as I've always remembered. Now to roto-rooter my arteries.

My sons both had Monte Cristos yesterday at Cafe Orleans and they both said they were delicious, as usual.

I had the Chicken Gumbo crepes and they were also delicious. DH enjoyed his blackened chicken sandwich, as well.

Not sure why there has been such a difference in people's food experiences there?

I think what needs to be considered is that we all have different taste buds. We are talking about a sandwich that is dipped in batter and then deep fried!!!! Of course there will be some amount of greasyness!

I have the recipe for this sandwich and have made it at home. It is atery clogging! Does that mean it is not good? NO! Just to those folks who don't eat greasy food on a daily basis. For those of use who understand that sometimes goodness comes with greasyness, the Monte Cristo can be heaven. For those who are expecting a salad with oil free vinaigrette, you will not enjoy the Monte Cristo. It's a greasy heavy sandwich that you need to expect to pack on the pounds when you eat it. And don't think of eating one by yourself or you'll have a heart attack!

Personally, I can't wait to head back out there, in a couple weeks, we'll be staying onsite for Destination-D and Thursday after we check into the hotel our first stop will be the Cafe Orlean where we will split a monte cristo and either French onion soup or the pomme Frites and we'll share some Mickey Beignets for dessert!

Well, you might try the Banana Bread Pudding for dessert, instead of the beignets. It is about the best dessert I have had at DLR.

I did think these were terrible - I couldnt even manage one wedge - in fact the server brought me something else - none of our party enjoyed them in fact but they managed to eat more than I did.
