Monte Cristo

Perhaps you had one before the fryer was heated up?

This sounds like an explanation. Others are failing fryer coils (unlikely, as all foods would come out soggy, pale and gross) and (my pick) the sandwiches weren't battered properly before submerged in the deep fryer. :sad2:

could a diabetic eat 1/2 a monte cristo sandwich?? without the berry thing?

i really want to try one. i should have tried all the sweets before i became diabetic. smh...

It's dusted with powder sugar. So you would want to ask about that first.

I ate it......the powder sugar is minor compared to all the dough
I saved for it, but wouldn't do it again. I have better uses for my carbs :rotfl:

Well, technically, you can eat anything if you don't worry about the consequences. :D You can probably get away with it fine if you're manage your intake before and after. Honestly, tho, a quarter is plenty. Everything beyond that is just gorging. Wonderful, gooey, tasty gorging.

I would ask them to not put on the powdered sugar and you probably would be fine.

I have PS at both BB and CO on the 16th. I am ordering the Monte Cristo at BB. If it's good and like what I've always experienced in the past I will order it at CO too just to do a comparison, but like PP said they come from the same kitchen so there shouldn't be a difference. I'm planning on taking pictures too. I hope this isn't a permanent change. :sad2:

Each restaurant has it's own kitchen. The sandwich is battered and fried in the kitchen at the restaurant.

I've always heard from numerous people BB & CO share a kitchen. :confused3

I think that perhaps means that they use the same ingredients, same recipes, and maybe the same people work in both locations. I don't think they share the same actual kitchen area, as the restaurants are in 2 different buildings. But I have been wrong before, so don't quote me.

The restaurants are across the street from each other, I do believe they use the same kitchen. I don't know for sure tho, I have no first hand experience. :) But I was also told that they shared a kitchen.

actually what I was told was that the kitchen was under the street, again I have no idea if that's correct but it is what I was told. :)

This sounds a lot like the one I had in June - EXTREMELY greasy - almost nauseating.

The Kitchen is located under ground. I have been told many times it is the same kitchen. There is also a huge overlap in menu items as well. It would amaze me to find out that they don't infact share a kitchen.

My mom got one at Blue Bayou in August and it was good, i had a little bite! Not too greasy or anything.
Maybe they have a new cook who doesn't know how to make it properly :confused3

Further to our dining experience at CO- I had the seafood crepe-it was awful.
The prawns & scallops were really dry & wrapped in a crepe, then the sauce drizzled over the top of the crepe. Because there was no sauce inside the actual crepe it was really dry & tastless.
My daughter had the blackened chicken caesar salad & said it was great, so I will order that next time!

The more I read this thread the more I plan to have a Monte Cristo on my next visit. Just so I can see/eat one for myself.

I had one in May and it was fabulous. I'm pretty sure that BB and CO do share a kitchen, at least I know they used to. I knew someone that worked at CO years ago and he had said something about shared a kitchen so unless they have built a new kitchen, then they share.

You are a Monte Cristo virgin??? GET OUT!

At DL yes. I'm trying to remember if I ate anything other than snacks in DL last trip and can't but I can remember where I ate the two trips before. Just not CO or BB. I ate at BB at least once, but I may of been 5 or 7 so I'm not sure what I've had.

But I would like to know if there's is better than the ones I've made for myself.
