Is there anywhere else in Disneyland to get the Monte Cristo sandwich? I thought I heard that the French Market cafe has them but I have never seen it there.

Ditto to bumbershoot, but I have to mention it's exactly the same sandwhich, no difference in taste at all. If you want to save a little bit of money though, I'd go with Cafe Orleans.

I agree for both restaraunts have the same sandwhich, I have found no great difference. Be prepared that you might find the sandwiches at either place very rich. I ended up having to split the sandwich with my mom.

My sister in law once ordered it like this at BB. It just came out as a cold ham, turkey and cheese sandwich with I believe lettuce and tomatoes.
BTW, French Market used to offer the Monte Cristo when Pirates and BB were down for extensive amounts of time, but that was before Cafe Orleans reopened and started serving them.

Essentially, it's a ham/turkey/swiss sandwhich dipped in an egg batter that's usually grilled, but Disneyland deep-fries it. It's a bit rich for my taste, but still pretty yummy and should be tried at least once!

I had the monte cristo two weeks ago and it was horrible! After all the posts on how great it was I was expecting something to die for and I thought it was not good at all. There is way too much breading, hardly any meat at all (it's like cheap lunch meat you buy at the grocery store), and it was so greasy it was making me ill!

I will never have that again! Well, I'll never have anything from there again since we won't be back to the BB! It's gone way down hill over the years and the prices are ridiculous!

It is huge! I have ordered it twice and neither time could even touch the second half, it's very filling and very rich. Yum, can't wait to have it again!

There is also a 3 cheese version if you don't like ham -- at least it is on the menu at Cafe Orleans. I ordered it when we were there on Saturday. I split it with my DH (there was a $4 split plate charge -- but not bad considering another sandwich would be $15.99 or something like that).
I wish I would have taken a picture of it -- it sorta tastes like a french toast sandwich. We thought it was good. It is dipped in a batter, fried, and then served dusted with powdered sugar and a berry dipping sauce. It is served with grapes and strawberries. We had *excellent* service at Cafe Orleans. The servers were very friendly and make conversation with us and our kids. They kept refilling our glasses and asking if we needed anything. A PS is highly recommended.
We are usually healthy eaters (I never get mayo on anything, usually skip the cheese, eat low fat . . . ) but we did splurge with the Monte Cristo. It was definately enough to serve 2 people!! The next day we just had lunch at the fruit stand in Adventureland (they have boxes of fruit and veggies/dip) to make up for it LOL

I'm a Monte Cristo lover & I've tried it and BB, Cafe Orleans & they also have it at Millies across the street from DLR on Harbour. BB & Cafe Orleans were nearly identical except I think the berry sauce is different, at least it tasted different to me and I preferred the sauce at BB. However since my kids are such picky eaters and dont really like the food and either place we tried Millies (since I needed my m.c. fix ) and I can't say it's as good as Disney's but the Monte isn't half bad there, they do it more as a pan fry I think and they serve jelly with it instead of the sauce, which I prefer the sauces but that's just me. Also it's like $9 at Millies. So I think if it were just me & hubby we'd get it at BB & Split it

I had the Monte Cristo at the French Market Cafe in October and, this is my opinion, but is was gross. I've had monte cristo's before and they were lightly battered and pan fried. The sandwich I got in DL was covered in a heavy batter, like something you would fry onion rings in, and was completely greasy. Plus, it is WAY too expensive. I figured I would try it, but I will never order it again unless the change the way it is made.
