Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor - Hot Seat?

My DH was "that guy" and I recall that we sat near the front just to the right of center. I don't recall any lamps but I wasn't really looking.

I always thought it was just good karma for him being a good sport and wearing one of the matching family tshirts that said "Celebratiing the Season at Disney World" and adorned with the classics in Santa Hats. He humored me and wore it without too much fuss but maybe it was the matching tshirts that made us stand out.

And he was a great "that guy" too...made faces and carried on. I sure do love that man

It's really not too bad being put up on the screen. My thought is...I'm never going to see these people again anyways!!! :rotfl: I think we've had our jokes picked almost every single time we've texted them in (our DD loves this attraction and we go multiple times on every trip).

We took our daughter when she was about 2 1/2 - we sat on the left side of the theater - near the lamps...

I hear them say "hey everyone...wanna see something cute?" Next thing I know the light is on her and she's plastered all over the big screen...it was too funny....

I'm not sure I understand the fear some posters have of getting picked. You are up on the screen for only a few seconds, even the 'That guy,' which is the person who has the most screen time.

Then again, I've learned much on the DIS about the many wide types of fear that lots of folks have. Lots of things I NEVER would have dreamed of fearing, plenty of folks fear. But I suppose that's what amusement parks are all about - playing on our minor fears: darkness, drops, sudden noises....

That's the big benefit of going to an amusment park- confronting those fears in a relatively fun, safe environment. It's a great way to positively reinforce one's willingness to confront one's fears!

I agree with others though that they tend to typecast. "That guy' tends to be a tall man, often bald, and perhaps someone who looks to have a sense of humor. And really, once the show lets out, it is over and done. Nobody is going to follow you around or anything.

Balding, but maybe with a mustache. Maybe looks a little like an older biker dude.

Generally, they seem to pick a big guy who looks sort of tough but yet they think probably has a sense of humor.

I was picked to dance in October 09. I was sitting in the 2nd row, 3rd seat from the left. I was a good sport and got up and did my best, but it had everyone rolling. :lmao:

DH was That Guy last time we went. He's not balding, with a mustache or a funny hat type, definately the quiet please don't pick me sort of guy. I think there's something to be said for sitting in the center though (maybe better ability of the moving lights to reach you?) and a CM on the floor selecting the person. We were going in and a CM stopped us from moving all the way through to the far section of seats. (It wasn't overly crowded, but it was wierd he stood in the way and told us to just sit.) All I can think of is that it was some sort of set up for the That Guy thing.

When we saw the show in 2007, my 3 yr old daughter was sitting on my lap and we were interviewed as a two-headed monster. My daughter did a great job answering all the questions about where we were from!

well, i THOUGHT i had it all figured out when DH was 'that guy' on one trip...then a couple months later we went again and I tried to maneuver him to that same seat again...but I ended up as the psychotic assistant to buddy. From what I'm reading it's a matter of luck.

And DH is NOT bald, no facial hair..not particularly anything. In fact, he was just ghastly as he was in whiteface make up with ghostly eyes. Maybe there are just a LOT of bald guys with mustaches. :D

Father in Law is definitely Tall...he also ALWAYS looks bored even when he's having fun! I Soooooo want to make this happen! I know he'd be a good sport! :rotfl:

We were there on Sunday. Hubby got picked as that guy. We sitting back 3 rows on the right side (facing the stage) near the aisle. DH was actually sitting in the 2nd seat from the center aisle. It was really funny!!:lmao:

Definately opt for aisle seats closest to the center of the theater... it's easier for the CM to reach you with the mic and therefore easier to get chosen!

The show also plays on the same two jokes "the two headed monster" and "four eyes"... typically these are people with a young child sitting on their lap... or someone with sunglasses on their head (which I was chosen for)... it's also expected for them to pick a princess attired guest as well for another segment!

I do believe "that guy" is purely random... and typically the chosen person doesn't stand out in the crowd in appearance.

I'll also recommend texting jokes! They really are shared during the show... and you can't help but giggle when yours is mentioned!

I have been "That guy" twice and been picked multiple times for random comments. If you want to be picked, sit within the 1st 3-4 rows of the stage towards the middle. That should get you some hits.

When I was "that guy" twice, I sat in the same seat and got picked twice. I was in the 3rd or 4th row, left side, about 4-6 seats in.

:scared1:
