Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor - Hot Seat?

Fiance was picked 2 years ago for Laugh Floor (and for Turtle Talk, and Backlot Tour, IDK what it is about him he is always getting picked). We were sitting dead center of the room. He had to be "Mike Wazowski" and every time the monster said Mike Wazowski the camera would go back on him and he would have to close one eye hahahaha. So here's fiance, 6'2", almost 200lbs, bald and he's....Mike Wazowski.

On our last trip in 2008 I was "That Guy". I wasn't wearing anything special and I don't recall having any conversation with a CM. I guess it was just pure luck. I was blinded by a bright light and just as I was thinking "Uh-oh" there I was on the screen. My DD6 (she was 4 at the time) immediately sat on my lap so she could be on screen too! :rotfl:

I did everything I could last time to avoid being picked - back of the theater, away from the lamps, kept head down, etc., and I ended up getting to be the one who likes kissing monsters. It was pretty much over before my monster got me to look at the screen. :D

In the first weeks it was open, we were there twice. It was the same seat both times. I happened to be in it the first time. :lmao:

However, my DS 6 or 7 at the time was so very unimpressed. He was starting to get really mad that they kept picking on his dad. My DW almost had to take him out or he was going to start ruining it for people. Since we'd never been and I'd never yet heard of "that guy", we hadn't prepared him at all.

Any one else that got picked have that problem?

I never got a sticker. :sad1:

I had no idea what this show was like when I went into it and was horrified to find out they were putting people on the screen during it. I was so scared I was going to get picked, I kept my head down. Luckily I wasn't picked, I might have cried. I thought it was so adorable and I want to see it again, but the anxiety of possibly being on the screen makes me never want to go back. Maybe after a few drinks (which aren't even found at MK!) I'd be ok.

DH got picked to dance:rotfl: We were sitting about 3 rows in from the back, on the right side.

The first time we saw it was near the end of a 7 day trip. We had 7 people in our group, and had been going non stop for several days. I was exhausted, and probably about half asleep. I guess it showed, because I was on screen as the guy who "doesn't think this is funny." I really did think it was funny, just was pretty tired. My kids got a good laugh out of it, and DW ribbed me for a while, it was good fun though.

My DD(6) was in a snow white dress and got picked, we were sitting towards the front. I think it's totally random, maybe wearing something that stands out.

DH was picked to be "that guy", he loved every minute of it and proudly showed the whole family his that guy sticker when we got home.

We were sitting in the first row near a lamp.

I've been picked three times: twice as the person who has a monster under her seat, and once as the person buying churros.

DH has been the person buying churros once. Neither one of us were wearing anything too strange, and we never sit in the same area.

DH was picked as the guy buying churros too. He is a bigger guy and was wearing an orange Grumpy shirt. We were sitting in about the 5th row on the left side that time. We typically have sat in the back.

lamps have ZERO to do with it.

there are only 2 cameras (not 50 with miles of wiring) and they are mounted high on either side of the center screen, just like Turtle Talk. they have the ability to pan the entire audience.

to be on screen during the pre-show, or to be 'that guy,' it doesn't matter where you sit. it's more or less random.

My family has been on the screen a few times. Once, the monster onscreen was talking to a little girl about her headband she was wearing (the one with sparkly Mickey heads on it). He then said, "it could be worse, you could have 4 ears". Who comes up on the screen?? Me!!!! I was wearing my Minnie Mouse headband!!! :rotfl: The other time was when my DD was chosen to be Boo. :goodvibes Usually they pick a little girl who is about 2 or 3 years old (our DD was 6 at the time). I think it's because she's petite and she was sitting on my DH's lap.

I'm so shy and I don't want to get picked. DH likes the show and wants to go all the time. If he got picked, he would be so funny cause he is the clown in our family.

I'm always trying to avoid going though cause I'm scared to get picked. I would probly turn super red and DH and DD would probly be laughing at me knowing that I was embarrassed.

I have no idea... but everytime I walk in that room, I'm terrified it will be ME! LoL, so far I've been lucky... on the other note, my son's joke was on the show in 2009!

Last year I was sitting with the baby on my lap, he had his pacifier in his mouth..all of a sudden the baby and I were up on the screen...Mike says
"hey lady, whatever you do...dont pull the plug out on that thing"!! My 7yr old loved it!!! :rotfl:

I was thinking of holding the baby in hopes of not getting picked....I guess that won't work.:scared1:

I have attended the show once and i was in the hot seat and my joke was picked for the show. Must have been lucky that day. My joke was: Two peanuts were walking down the street and one was assaulted. It confused him.
